Kez Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Is orthanc strickly s@h or will it be in Lego stores? Lego stores, probably lego lands and lego discovery centres aswell (I'm not too sure if the lego shops will get Orthanc on the earlier VIP release but I hope and presume they will) Quote
LegoThomas Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Got all new sets at the lego store in Oberhausen. Now it's time to build. Great day! Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Given the new 10236 Ewok Village I am really wishing we got more minifigures with Orthanc, I mean just one real exclusive its not even as good as the ones we get with the black gate. I had that exact same thought for a few seconds. 15 minifigs?!? WTF? But then, you really have to remember that LSW is the One Theme to Rule Them All in terms of collectability and appeal to well-monied investors, and a Star Wars set with that many unique minifigs is guaranteed to bring in a good ROI. I doubt that TLG would do anything like that in any other theme, and LOTR especially just doesn't have that track record. Quote

They also were nice enough to add in an Ent and a molded Eagle! Sounds like a good deal for me. Quote
Moexy Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) I always order from "superspeelgoed.nl", the pricing is really good, far better the prices in Belgium stores ... The Ewok Village with some changes could be a nice Lothlorien Village :) Edited June 1, 2013 by Moexy Quote

Ardelon Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 The Ewok Village with some changes could be a nice Lothlorien Village :) Yeah, when I saw it, that was the first thing that occured to me, too! Though I wonder if this set (along with the warg attack set) doesnt actually decrease the chances of a Lorien set, as it would be somewhat repetitive. Quote
Fives Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 After seeing the new Ewok Village, it dawned on me how amazing it would be if LEGO did another exclusive, either Lorien or Rivendell. I think Lorien would have a better chance, and the way that they captured the tall trees and platforms of Endor shows how beautifully LEGO could make Mallorn trees of Lorien. And if the figs were to be at the similar amount, we could easily see the whole Fellowship, Galadriel, Celeborn, Haldir in his robes, and maybe the rest could be warriors from Helm's Deep, with a small section dedicated to the arming of troops. It would be a beautiful set ( tall white and grey trees, with white and gold leaves, elven staircases, and large lanterns ) and it would cover one of the most important parts of the story. Heck, it could even have the dock with the elven boats. And along with Orthanc, I think that Lorien is so beloved and recognized by fans of the films and books that they could sell the set no problem. Now I really wish this were real. Quote

I think we could make a gorgeous Loth Lorien MOC using the Ewok set as a starting point. I am not sure how likely an official set of that size would be, largely because the scene and setting is pretty much absent of any play features or conflict. At that size and scale Lego would get better bang for the buck with something like Minas Tirith or Edoras or Bree. Galadriel's Realm was by definition the safest place on Middle Earth. Which makes it spectacularly beautiful... but not a lot to do within it. Quote
Fives Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Keep dreaming ;) Yeah, really. The likelyhood of this becoming a real set is the same as the likelyhood of a minifig scale Minas Tirith. I'm finding it really strange how scattered and staggered the release of this wave has been. I think we could make a gorgeous Loth Lorien MOC using the Ewok set as a starting point. Which makes it spectacularly beautiful... but not a lot to do within it. While its true that there is no conflict in Lorien that is shown on screen, there were scenes planned and prepared based on the Moria goblins that followed the Fellowship to the eaves of Lorien and the elves fought them back. So, they could have a few Moria orcs attacking, and have the elves fighting back. Quote
SMC Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Minas tirith is so much more important and could be the best and biggest Lego set ever. Quote
N7LEGO Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Cammo, there are shipping fees on Amazon.es I went to the Lille Lego Store today and bought "Doc Ock Ambush" + "Wizard Battle" to have Jor-El and I asked to the guy if it was possible to have the Tower of Orthanc before the 17th but he said me "No way" The sets won't be on the shelves, you'll have to ask it to the staff Quote
SheepEater Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Minas tirith is so much more important and could be the best and biggest Lego set ever. This. Not just Minas Tirith, but the entire war going on around it ... witch king, mumakils, Osgiliath. Edited June 1, 2013 by SheepEater Quote
SMC Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 This. Not just Minas Tiirith, but the entire war going on around it ... witch king, mumakils, Osgiliath. yep could be the biggest set ever and a whole wave just to cover everything and then your still have to buy two or more or some of the sets Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Interesting that the Gate is in stores (just went) but not on S@H yet. Quote
SMC Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) So a random Orthanc question, in the dungeon the middle part should be deeper than the rest. Is there anything behind the sticker of the wargs? Edited June 1, 2013 by SMC Quote
Deathleech Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) I just got back from my local Lego store and they had all the new sets out except the Pirate Ship. It seems like the distribution is a little wonky with some stores not having the ship set yet, while online the Black Gates are delayed. Given the new 10236 Ewok Village I am really wishing we got more minifigures with Orthanc, I mean just one real exclusive its not even as good as the ones we get with the black gate. More figures would of been nice, but the Ewok Village has roughly 400 less pieces and is $50 more than Orthanc! Granted it seems to have larger pieces used and more minifigures, but ya. I am not really sure what else Lego could of included in Orthanc? I suppose more of the Fellowship like Merry and Pippin, Theoden, and some orcs? It seems a little redundant though and like it would just be filler no one really wants driving up the price. Some Wild Men and more Uruks in white hand armor would of been cool. As for a Lego Lothlorien set, I don't think it very likely, especially on The Ewok Village or even Orthanc scale. The scenes featuring it in the movie wernt terribly long or memorable. I mean even Rivendale was reduced to a $30 set and it played. Much larger role. I think the best thing to do would be buy the Ewok Village and mod it into Lothlorien like others have mentioned. True but just one real exclusive minifigure is not great, could of had a exclusive Lurtz and making the ent treebeard would be another exclusive and then Merry and Pippin to add to the numbers which would make 8 still less than Pirate Ship Ambush. But it is a great build. Edited June 1, 2013 by SMC Quote
Bytor Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Then the employee is dumb :/ I guess im picking it up tomorrow :D As if... i phoned every lego store near toronto, none of them had the ship. So today i got the 3 other sets. Quote
