Ridge Montante Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Interesting how in the Wizard Battle set they show Gandalf wearing a cape when they don't give him one in the set. Quote
Artanis I Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Interesting how in the Wizard Battle set they show Gandalf wearing a cape when they don't give him one in the set. Only near the bottom of the page where all the included minifigs are shown next to each other. I imagine they just used the same image that they already had from Gandalf Arrives without realising. All the pictures specifically of the set and in the video he has no cape. Quote
Deathleech Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Saruman also has different chest printing on the products page for the Wizard Battle set Quote
Clone OPatra Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Saruman also has different chest printing on the products page for the Wizard Battle set It's actually Gandalf the White in that picture. That whole part is a bit messed up - I think they took the Gandalf the Grey picture from Orthanc. Quote

Lynx Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Tower of Orthanc review - http://translate.goo...=619749&act=url I wish that some of those 2x2 bricks (maps etc) would be printed. That is a large amount of stickers, probably as many as in the Mines of Moria. Quote

In the case of this set, I prefer stickers. While finikity to get on, printed parts would only hike up the price even more. Quote

Wow, it must be the twilight zone..! Gandalf the Gray vs Gandalf the White in the Wizard Battle set! Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 So the Dead's heads do glow in the dark! Interesting to see the "updated" printed pieces in the Ship. Quote

LegoThomas Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The website had last years sets as the theme, "updated" the site with THIS years sets I think he referred to the printed pieces of the ship, by saying "updated". The website is up. I know. Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 He's talking about the website being fully uploaded, which, I'm sorry to say to him, had already been posted by yours truly. Quote
deskp Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The spinning galdalf feature makes alot more sense than it jsut being a spinning palintir! x] Quote
BudhaBoss Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) They do glow? Didn't notice yet. Yes, but only the heads. I was expecting the printing on the chests and maybe helmets to glow a bit (similar to the mummy from monster hunters series) - would make sense. But at least the heads do. Got all 3 minifigs. To show how they glow in the dark I took photo without light, for comparison I added mummy. http://i1285.photobu...ps98a9b23a.jpg http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a582/PeterKoudy/DSC03663_zps45e81607.jpg Edited June 7, 2013 by BudhaBoss Quote
Fives Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The updated site is a lot better than the way it was. Just more pleasing to the eyes. And the characters page is way better. Quote
Lynx Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Having finished building the new sets, I am really impressed by the quality and level of detail. The Council of Elrond may be my favourite set to date. I just love the integrated natural feel through foliage and the architectural style of the small building. I purchased a second 'Bag 1 & 2' of the Black Gate, so I kept the regular size of the gate but have one tower on either side. I love the look and solid feel of the gate. The secret entrance made me cringe but was easily taken out. No sneaking into my Morannon! I think about using an additional technic connector on both towers (further up) to enhance stability. The Wizard Battle is by far the best small set in my opinion, clearly leaving behind Gandalf arrives and Riddles of the Ring. I replaced the 'throw Saruman of his throne' brick with a solid black brick for visual appeal. Quote

Its so great that its usually super easy to mod away the stupid 'play fatures' I've kindof been udnerestimating this wave of lotr, cause initially i got grumy with the new minifig selection, but it's great! (as long as theres a Faramir coming later ;) ) Quote
Kez Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Hopefully it won't be long now until these sets start popping up in the UK, when Orthanc gets its early release (for the VIP's), can you buy Orthanc on the 17th June in store aswell as buying it on S@H, or can you only buy it online? Quote

I would like to know that too but for French official Lego stores. And if they do, do you have to ask the employee or are will the tower be on the shelves? Quote

And if they do, do you have to ask the employee or are will the tower be on the shelves? I asked that same question a few pages back. People said they will have them out on shelves with a note you need to sign up for a VIP card in order to purchase it early. Quote

The_Chosen_1 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I think I'll wait to order Orthanc in July; hopefully there's a good freebie during that month. I already have 3 Jor-El minifigs on the way. Quote
