Artanis I Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Strange, it's still coming up for me. Under the theme The Lord Of The Rings it is first on the list. Under Categories->Exclusives it is first on the list. Under Exclusives it is first on the list. Under What's New it is second, behind Palace Cinema. Clicking on it takes me to the expected page, and it's "Available Now" and has the "Add To Bag" button. Are you guys definitely logged in to VIP? Quote
Kez Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I can't wait to buy Orthanc today, assuming that my store has enough in stock Quote
LegoThomas Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 My local store just called. Orthanc is now available and they put one aside for me. Hopefully i can finish work today before the store closes... Quote
TheDoctor Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) Just got the last one from LEGO Cardiff, they said people were queuing at the door for it this morning! Bad news is! I got halfway through the first book building the ent only to find the pages were messed up and it went onto building the tower itself before i finished building the ent! I called them up and they sent me a PDF, but it's still not on considering how much it is! Edited June 17, 2013 by TheDoctor Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Placed my order for 10237 last night as soon as it went live! Can't wait for this bad boy. Quote
legofreak86 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) Just thought I'd throw this bit of news out there. Its nothing major but if uk fans haven't got Gandalf the grey yet then this might help you: http://www.brickset....D=6801#comments I personally do have one its a shame they picked that poly over the elf one which would have been ideal. It is perplexing they picked this poly at all as the hobbit pt2 doesn't come out until Dec! It would've been better to do a different one from the lone ranger or something like that. Then again another Gandalf couldn't hurt. Especially for 80p! Any news on when the 2013 lotr sets will be hitting the uk? Edited June 17, 2013 by legofreak86 Quote

Maybe they picked Gandalf so AFOLS aren't as likely to cheat the system and scoop up huge numbers leaving kids and other adults with nothing? I remember reading reports last year how some people were buying 50+ Uruk-hai polybags while other people in the U.K. couldn't even get any since they were all out. Quote

I remember reading reports last year how some people were buying 50+ Uruk-hai polybags while other people in the U.K. couldn't even get any since they were all out. Indeed I witnessed first hand a man buying two boxes (100 Urukhai) for about £50! Good point the elves would undoubtedly be the same. Then again as I say another Gandalf couldn't hurt! Could be useful parts for custom Sir Ian Mckellen figure. Or some other use. Quote

Nothing wrong with that really, he paid the money for them :D The problem is not everyone had polybags in their country let alone town. My country got 0 polybags EVER. So I wouldnt mind someone picking 100 if I atleast knew ''if i would be sooner I could get something'' but to me polybags are only a dream or ebay overpaying! Quote

One way to think about it I suppose. However that is 100 polybags that 100 children would not be able to get though as that is who the promotion is aimed at. I don't deem that moral. Legal yes but moral, no! That is the reason Lego stopped the sun ones because too many ended up on eBay and too little were given to those that would appreciate them. Blakstone Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I agree with LegoFreak86. TLG uses promotions like this to expose more potential customers to LEGO. They are likely losing money on these to build up more customers. That is why it is a promotion and not just a set for sell. I am glad that it is not a polybag that I would need. I saw some of these at a local Walmart. Even when I was buying Milkwood Elf Guard, I made sure that I left plenty behind for other fans. Do we expect any polybags for the Hobbit wave this December? If so, what two minifigs do you wxpect? My guesses is an orc and Bilbo. Quote
Kez Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I just bought the tower, the good thing was that my store had plenty but they still put one aside for me. I also got some great promotions with the set, I got the lotr poster, a splinter keychain and a jor el polybag, I can't wait to build this bad boy Quote

Dorothy Vader Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) What does the poster look like? I'm guessing that the poster is the one pictured at Lego online: http://shop.lego.com...ly-Access-10237 Edited June 17, 2013 by Dorothy Vader Quote

TheDoctor Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 What do you mean by "messed up"? The first 30 pages instructing how to build the base of the tower and the last pages of how to build the ent were were missing. I hope this isn't a major thing, if so it could get recalled. Anyway! I got the PDF files off them and I have to say, this tower is incredible!!! Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) You beat Artifex to the punch! The video makes it look really large and imposing. I got the VIP email today. It gets more and more tempting... Edited June 17, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote

Lemmiwinkles Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) What is everyone's status on Lego.com? I placed my order when the page went live on Sunday night (Monday morning at around 12:05am) and I have this... What does "partial shipment, balance on backorder" mean? I have a tracking number but the dimensions of the box are a bit odd... 415x320x140 420grms 18592volume Edited June 17, 2013 by Lemmiwinkles Quote

TheLegoDr Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 That poster looks awesome. Too bad it won't be available by the time I will actually buy this behemoth. And they tend to fetch quite a bit on ebay for some reason, oh well... Quote
Lynx Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 What is everyone's status on Lego.com? It says 'in progress' for my order. Really looking forward to this set. It's my first direct to customer model. Quote
Deathleech Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I don't deem that moral. Legal yes but moral, no! Actually that wasn't even entirely legal, was it? I thought the Sun promo was suppose to be one per customer, its just most employees didn't uphold or care about this rule. Quote
