deskp Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 What if Lego made the Dol gulder set like the Vampire castle. I see the similarity, could be a good option! I know lego always like to end a theme with a big exclusive set for example kingdoms. With the tower of orthanc set does that mean that the LOTR sets will be given a break and lego will focus more on the hobbit sets since there will be two more movies coming out? I hope there's more lotr, if not then it could be good with a "catch up" wave for hobbit AUJ and DOS. Quote
kermit Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I think it would be wise of lego to rest the original trilogy sets for now so that they can stretch out this theme as much as possible. after they do the sets for the next two hobbit movies then they can bring back some more original trilogy sets so that they seem fresh. But that leaves the gap of summer 2014.. I dont see a point stretching it when there would be a gap. casue i dont see 2 waves of hobbit sets in one year. And its about time we see some gondor/faramir stuff! It's not really about seeming fresh as it is to sell while the theme is popular. in 2015 the window of oppertunity is kindof over for lotr. wesker Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I'd hate to see Lego take a break from LOTR next year. We'd be lucky to even get another wave after the final Hobbit film, and we really need two more waves to cover all the essential sets from the original trilogy. Quote
N7LEGO Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I'd be furious if LEGO decide to take a break before releasing a Balrog set. Quote
Kez Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Im getting worried that we won't see the hobbit figures/sets at SDCC, we have already see most of the new sets & themes such as superheroes, the lego movie and minecraft (I hope I am wrong but if I remember rightly Peter Jackson said on his video blog that they weren't prepared to reveal too much at CC because they were still filming). He said there wouldn't be a panel because there wasnt people available to do it. Lego is merely getting the non hobbit reveals out of the way ;) (that said I am also worred eeeek) __ If anything we know that WB and lego have a pretty tight relationship. With hobbit/lotr, DC, harry potter, the lego movie, the batman lego movie, the announced ninjago movie. and the fact that WB also makes all the lego games. So at least they won't lose the lisence unless they really want to. edit: unless its on the far left side we, theres no hobbit banner at lego booth... http://www.bleedingc...hment_id=263989 EDIT: Hobbit banner at lego booth, so they had better show off soemthing new: Edited July 17, 2013 by deskp Quote
Kez Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 ^ Ah yes that's what he said, once tlg have got the new sets out of the way at SDCC we should hopefully see some lego hobbit merchandise(probably at another lego convention though), I guess time will tell. Quote

Kez Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Yep, those banners also make me excited, hopefully we'll see a set and lineup of a few figures like last year, I reckon that the hobbit sets/figures wont get shown though(if they are anyway) until before or after Saturday because Saturday seems to be the superhero day where the exclusives are given out (I also bet that the flash and batman set will get 'revealed' on Saturday, so all in good time) Quote

The Legonater Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 If LEGO were to end LotR with a big set, I could see them doing it with Minas Tirith, but not Orthanc or even Barad-Dur. They are both vital locations, but somehow I don't feel they aren't as needed or prevalent in the fans minds as much as Minas Tirith is. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Did you guys hear one of the sets their revealing at Comic Con is a set from The Lego Movie , so they might not show anything of the Hobbit sets. Quote
just2good Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) OMG GUYS YES THE NEW HOBBIT SET FINALLY! Why are we getting ANOTHER Bag-End? Like, seriously! Edited July 17, 2013 by just2good Quote
CM4Sci Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 Heart stopped for a bit. That doesn't look that exciting. -Sci Quote
Darth Lurtz Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) I'm just glad that it wasn't an SDCC exclusive Sauron minifigure. Edited July 17, 2013 by Darth Lurtz Quote
deskp Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) Its jsut an exclusive, just like they did with stars wars where they take soemthing previously amde as normal set and make it a small set for an CC exclusive. This is no more a new set reveal than the sdcc super heroes minifigs were. Just be glad the sdcc set doesent include an exclusive minifigure you wouldnt get otherwise Atleast this is a 3rd thing that shows legos continured support for HOBBIT at sdcc. Zilcho Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Good exclusive. It's a nice set, but nothing which we'll miss. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Now that is an example of a good convention exclusive!!! The exclusive Superheroes minifigs, on the other hand..... Quote
CMP Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 OMG GUYS YES THE NEW HOBBIT SET FINALLY! Why are we getting ANOTHER Bag-End? Like, seriously! Awwwww. Cute exclusive, but I was kinda hoping for something like the Superhero figs. This is cool too, though. Quote

Best exclusive idea was last year was last year for me- the Hobbit Bilbo figure. It was cool because it came with and exclusive pouch, and an early release of Bilbo. That's what exclusives should be. This one is all good, but darn, do I want that box! It's beautiful! Quote

Actually it was the worst one since the only exclusive was the bag and the map. Figure is from a common set. Quote
