deskp Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Brothers-brick has unveiled the set, Lake Town Chase: http://farm6.staticf...1b102e9f8_o.jpg Cool, tho they messed up Bard's hair, he should use the Thorin mold. That guard is cute! This 3d version does not show of the face prints tight though!. It does look like the movies lake town style. BrickBob Studpants Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I like the look of this set and the new minifigs look gorgeous, but I'm disappointed that they didn't show a set featuring Azog instead, now we don't know for sure whether he'll make it into a set (at least until october) Quote
Fives Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Oh my goodness! Not exactly what I expected, but I love it! Looks like a reasonably sized set with four new figs (Thorin has a new print!). Using Qui-Gon hair for Bard makes so much sense, and the Master of Laketown looks great! I just hope this isn't all we get shown at SDCC. And the shield with the fish on it! Forget that, the boat is just two rowboats cleverly attached. Actually, thats a brilliant concept. Well done LEGO. Edited July 19, 2013 by Fives Quote
KristofBD Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Brilliant set - lovely nice scene and great minifigs - especially the guard! Quote
deskp Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Using Qui-Gon hair for Bard makes so much sense I disagree, Thorins hair is like made for Bard, it looks right, and allows for quiver, Bard the BOWMAN, needs his quiver, it's also a shame they didnt print his quiver strap on him. note: gothic arch in brown. Captain Settle Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Fantastic! I love village scene sets, and this doesn't look too expenive either. Quote

Two new headwear pieces, at least one beautiful new shield and is that almost all DARK brown or is the lighting just playing tricks on me? Plus, Thorin has a new torso print meaning those that were concerned they'd recycle the torsos can breathe easier. This set does add to my ever increasing fear that Jackson is taking more and greater diversions from the book than he has before though. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 This new set looks nice to me (A casual Lego LotR fan), but it seems a bit lacking to me--almost like it's missing something. Quote

deskp Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Fantastic! I love village scene sets, and this doesn't look too expenive either. In a range of say 6 hobbit dos sets, where do you thin this is price and brick count wise? 2nd biggest? 3rd biggest? Quote
N7LEGO Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 This set is exactly what I was expecting for a Lake Town set: - 5 minifigs - a boat - a village scene with this particular atmosphere - a reasonable price (50$) Well done LEGO Quote
Combee Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Looks like a nice part selection but $50 for 334 pieces? Are we paying that huge markup for the large boat piece... Quote

Dr.Cogg Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Would Azog have looked better if he had a special torso made kinda of like Dog Pound from TMNT Quote
just2good Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Looks like a nice part selection but $50 for 334 pieces? Are we paying that huge markup for the large boat piece... Yeah, it kind of sucks. I really love this set other than that aspect. I would of loved a $40 price- heck, the Malibu Mansion set has some big pieces, more than this set in the piece count, and is $40. Not sure if I'm going to pick this one up, to be honest. Would Azog have looked better if he had a special torso made kinda of like Dog Pound from TMNT {pic} No. Edited July 19, 2013 by just2good Quote
Captain Settle Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 In a range of say 6 hobbit dos sets, where do you thin this is price and brick count wise? 2nd biggest? 3rd biggest? I guess it would be 3rd biggest, making it £50, but for what you get it isn't that expensive. Quote

It's the exact same number of pieces as the Barrel Escape set with the same number of minifigures but costs $10 more. Quote

Take a look at this pic of Bard: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130612045813/lotr/images/8/89/Desolation_-_Bard_the_Bowman.jpg Sure, Thorin hair would've allowed for a quiver, but overall its too long. Qui-Gon hair is much more suited to the length and style of Bard's hair. Quote
deskp Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Complaining time. Uh oh, lego made Bard dark brown, he should be redish brown or nougat. I think the feather in Master of laketown's hat should be yellow. The guard has blue on his pants wich i think should be purple aswell.. Hopefully that might jsut be a mistake with the 3d model. SMC Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Attack of the Wargs is 400 Pieces 5 minifigures and 2 Wargs so arewe missing something Quote

I've seen alot of pictures of Bard and i disagree, on top of that I don't like the Qui gon hair piece overall. its too smooth and shiny, and a bit too bad-sleek I'm sure I'll think it looks better when we see the face print without the 3d off-ness Edited July 19, 2013 by deskp Quote
