deskp Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I agree. Though the Thorin hair mold was truly designed for Fili and Kili, it works great for Thorin and would work well for Bard. Dude, this is actually a win-win. This way, we get a cool Qui-gon hairpiece in black - totally new color - and you can just slap on hair from the spare Thorin you'll have from this set. That's what I'm going to do! As a bonus, they even gave Thorin a new outfit in this set. Awesome. I'm very pleased. Since then I've come around to the black Qui gon hair. In LDD it does work with a quiver, not sure if that's the case with real bricks, Anyone care to test it? (Do still think qui gon hair lacks a little volume though) Quote
halomaster96 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I'm currently at sdcc and after getting screwed over for the Spider-Man figure I finally found the guy who gave out azog and he said that it was an exclusive that won't be in a set and then he said he only gave them to children so this one is going to be even harder to find because of that. Unless the PRINT is exclusive that is absurd. Though I wouldn't put must trust in some convention employe. Another thing could be that they perhaps produced as batch of these as a test or something, and needed to get rid of them, and we'll see another Azog later. Either way, I have no doubt that we'll see an Azog figure in some DOS set. Edited July 20, 2013 by deskp Quote

Either way, I'm pretty sure hobbit DOS wave of sets will include an azog figure. Agreed. Some convention rent-a-schmuck has no idea what Lego's going to release. It's too many unique molds in one figure, 100% likelihood it will be in a TDOS set, or TABA at the latest. Quote

When talking about the work that goes into making a new mold, lego almost come off as if they are complaining. So no less them 2 of them for no profit return isn't lego's business. And yeah, Mr. convention guy think exclusive means it wont show up again, just like alot of forum users assumed when they read it. Edited July 20, 2013 by deskp Quote
SandMirror38 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Maybe the flagship will have smaug attacking: just like helm's deep flagship the main part whilst the smaller set is a small bit Possibility? Loving the set though! Not really Azog... Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I have to agree with everyone here so far, there is no way that's a $50 set unless there is a large element missing from those pictures. And I seriously doubt that element would be Smaug. When Smaug comes, he's going to be the centerpiece of his set, not an add-on. Also, I'm really not a fan of minifig Azog. Maybe better pictures will make him look better, but from the pics we've seen so far he looks badly deformed, and I don't mean the good kind of cool badly deformed but the terribly unattractive and just plain wrong badly deformed. Faefrost Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 They are present for BO5A, thats why gandalf is with them. No no, thats Beorn, that happens on the outsirts of mirkwood, before the dwarves go into mirkwood, should happend VERY early in DOS. (bear thing) Doesn't Beorn also show up for the Battle? I thought he fights one of the Orc leaders in the book? ( it can't be spoilers? The books better than 50 years old!) Quote

(Do still think qui gon hair lacks a little volume though) I kinda like the Qui Gon piece as Bard's medieval mullet. It seems to match the character pretty well and looks better from the front than the Thorin one, for Bard. I still suspect that the Thorin / Fili / Kili hair isn't just designed for a quiver. I'm hoping it is meant to fit over armor. Quote

As others have said, it's a new mold. They will reuse it in a set. More than once if they can. They will not limit a new mold to 5k ComicCon figures. Now the whole package might be viewed as exclusive. ( never before figure sealed in special comic con packaging.) or there may be a print or color difference with whatever they put in retail sets (different armor or garb?). But there is no way we are not seeing those molds used. Quote
SirBlake Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Cool, I'm digging Laketown. It's already the second best Hobbit set behind Bag End. Quote
just2good Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Any news of when well see other sets? Last year we saw them on the poster I got back in October, so I'm guessing we'll see them in... October. Quote

8BrickMario Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Um, that was the set. It may look suspiciously overpriced, it doesn't look like Azog is supposed to be in it. Quote

Thought there was something else to the set as heaps of people have been saying that October 10-13. K thanks! Did we see any sets there last year? Quote
Leo604 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 K thanks! Did we see any sets there last year? I think that's when the first Hobbit sets were unveiled, among other stuff; didn't follow it too close though so I'm not sure. Quote
deskp Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I think that's when the first Hobbit sets were unveiled, among other stuff; didn't follow it too close though so I'm not sure. NYCC revealed Gollum and goblin town sets last year. (aswell as showing bag end again) Lego lady says 5 or more hobbit sets. creating a dragon? "you'll have to wait and see" Here is the mtv video showing off lake town set. sadly it doesent zoom on laketown guard... http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/938730/sdcc-2013-lego-the-hobbit-the-desolation-of-smaug-demo.jhtml Quote
