Well, Im glad they showed this set - Laketown and its denizens was what I wanted to see the most from this wave. Shame it isnt in dark brown, it would have looked more mysterious and foreboding, but the color scheme is nice anyway. I was suprised at the small size, I expected a Laketown set to be more substantial, probably with Smaug attacking, as many of us thought. Im not a fan of the double boat combo, though. I would have preferred a Sea Serpent type boat: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6057-1

The minifigs look great. Im glad TLG gave the guard a new helmet (and yes, it does resemble Eastern European helmets, which were often inspired by the Byzantines to the south and the Mongols to the east, which were often inspired by the Persians, etc. - sorry for the lecture). But im not liking his purple torso - I think these oversaturated torsos dont work at all, though I guess they and all be drab, as they have to appeal to kids who like brighter colors. The other figs are great.

As for Azog, I could get used to it, white or tan. The shoulders dont bother me as much, he is an Orc, after all - hes supposed to be ungainly and even deformed.

BTW, someone actually bought the 1000-$ Azog fig on ebay!

I feel like some or most of those people, including the $1000 guy, are just random attendees who weren't really interested into Lego, realized what they were randomly given, and just selling it online for these prices cause it has no personal meaning to them.

I'm not going to criticize too much, though; it is their property now and they can do whatever they want with their Azog figures.

Well it kinda shows how flawed legos plan was in dealing with thisf figure.

Ridiculous. Sad news for the people who constantly buy Lego products year after year, yet some scumbags looking to make a buck, or even just happen to walk by get a figure many people have been waiting for. This is just a slap in my face as a loyal collector since the early 90s, specially having a feeling that the superhero, Spiderwoman, probably won't ever make it into a set.

I feel so sorry for that guy

I have a really hard time feeling sorry for a person who has a thousand dollars on hand to pay for an ounce of ABS. Keep in mind that this is almost definitely a hardcore Lego collector who knows as well as we do that the figure will soon be out in a regular set.

I can only find two. Could you possibly post links to the others? I want to see the prices, see if its worth it.

I am willing to bet the person who bought won't be able to pay for rent this month. I feel really sorry for him/her. They were just robbed

You're totally right. Thanks LEGO, we pay hundreds of dollars every months and you decide to reward people who don't give a s.... about your company and just want to make money with it... Really disapointed...

On top of that, except for very niche internet places, LEGO got no real publicity from giving out azog. They should have awarded them to kid builders online instead. Or given them out for free to random people who ordered sets from lego.com

All this whining about exclusives really isn't justified; especially as it relates to the Azog figure. We get what we pay for from

LEGO. They don't 'owe' us anything and no one would be complaining if the fig hadn't been made available at all. LEGO would be daft to only promote itself to already loyal fans and SDCC is a great place for them to reach a target demographic. I totally understand wishing you could get a fig that you can't but going so far as to fault LEGO for it is silly.

I really hope the piece count for Lake Town is a typo and actually 100 more pieces than reported. It's a good looking set with great looking figures and some interesting parts but as it stands now, I'd only get it if it were on sale for at least $10 off. I'm glad to hear our Azog should be white. I think it will look better (though still awkward and inorganic).

I think maybe the 300-soemthing pieces is from another set. Because I'm pretty sure theres more than 430-something pieces in the laketown set. There is now way theres just 300-something pieces in the laketown set they showed us. I can share my LDD file if anyone wants to check it out for themselves and fiddle with it.

It is ridiculous that Lego is so limiting with their exclusive minifigures- it's irritating that they give away such things to people who don't care less. Do it for VIP's or something!!

So if they don't owe us nothing, let us pay for this or at least, offer it to real fans and not to speculative random parents...

Hmm, not too spectacular, this set.

The shields however are the first EVER with a sigil that directly identifies with the sea. There were viking shields before, yes, but they had pattern or dragons on it (which might be sea snakes or not). I would like to see some regiments with these new shields, various kinds of sea guards. Not bad.

The new helmet looks awkward, but It might be useful for scenarios with snow and ice.

Due to his red and gold colour, the harbour master looks like a metrosexual version of Haldir. Too bad he has this big tie, it will be hard to make him a warrior.

Its their item and can give it to whoever they want ...

this whining really is starting to get over the top...

I never even had a SLIGHT chance to get anything since I live so far away and I NEVER whined...

I think some of you expect LEGO MUST give you something. Just cos you buy their toy...

I completely agree, they should give them out at events like Brickvention, real fans who respect the exclusives would go there

It is Lego's fault. It was their decision to raffle and hand out the exclusive minifigures. And Lego wouldn't be a good company if they didn't owe anybody. They have done numerous things right for their customers. But only offering a select amount of exclusive figures you can only get at in California, in a crazy atmosphere of people at SDCC, or pay dearfully to someone who just cares to turn it around for profit.

All I'm saying is Lego is going about this the wrong way and should give a reasonable opportunity to people who are loyal and who cherish their products. Loyalty only goes so far in business, but it shouldn't go there. There's no reason for me to believe Lego will ever put Spiderwoman, a small and unique character, into one of their sets down the road. Same goes for Bizarro and Phoenix. At least 400 dollars for a minifigure is outrageous for a normal customer/fan/collector and it's just a slap in the face for someone who cares about their Legos.

And for the record, I wouldn't ask Lego for anything free, but just a reasonable opportunity for someone who can't make it there simply with the cost of hotel and travel.....because I buy their Lego sets

Sadly we all know that this is too true, but here in the UK there is a little helpful website called amazon, they will probably discount these awesome upcoming sets by like 30% off after about 2 months of their release date, so in my budget that seems ok. LOL, now all Im waiting for now is more pictures of the upcoming hobbit wave so my wallet can make the decisions. :classic:
