July 25, 201311 yr Here is another better view of DOS packaging style, and what is clearly THE new color (cold blue) Reveal hidden contents

My hopes is that its the set Azog will be in. You may be being overly optimistic. They don't exactly have a record of simply following a path of "big and major scenes" in their set selection, or of assigning big and major sets to such scenes. What works against A Thranduil's hall in my mind is we already have a mid priced set that gives us the major action piece of that sequence. The Barrel Escape set. I think the big set this wave might be some sort of Erebor / Smaug set. Keep in mind they have 2 "elf" sets already in play from the first wave. They don't need to reissue these. They simply don't retire them yet. Assuming the next wave is 5 new boxed sets, with Lake Town being the Middle or 4th priciest.

July 25, 201311 yr Theres been some speculation on what will happen with the 2 preview sets and the future wave. The quote from the mtv clip, is the presenter asking about NEW playsets, not DOS sets in general. That should help clear up the fact that those 2 sets won't "steal" spots for new sets. "How many NEW hobbit playsets are going to be created?" "we have about, very estimate, um about 5" (after this the lego lady says something im unable to make out).

Oh ok I see what you mean; it does make Wizard Battle seem redundant. I suppose you could sell the latter's minifigures if you wanted. Edit; sorry, forgot a word. I took her statement as an indication of 5 (maybe 6 with 1 very small) retail box sets, plus maybe a few other bonus items such as Polybags. Which would put its release size somewhere between AUJ's and the second LotR wave. With at a minimum 2 sets from AUJ still being kept out on the shelf, much the same as there are still a good number of LotR 1st wave sets out there.

July 26, 201311 yr I just read the Empire Magazine article on DOS. My level of excitement for this film is so much more than before, and I really hope that LEGO does justice to the film.
July 26, 201311 yr I know this is 2014 but here's what we should expect from armored thorin. leatherr with chainmail underneath. No armor plates and such it seems. Reveal hidden contents Edited July 26, 201311 yr by deskp

I've been thinking about how LEGO could do Thranduil's hair with his crown. Perhaps they could make his crown attach to his hair, similar to Tonto's bird. That way he doesn't always need to be wearing it.

July 26, 201311 yr Here are the "mood shots" for the laketown chase set. No doubt these are made to be on the Hobbit website to go with the rest.
