BlueberryWaffles Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hmm......interesting. Two Dol Guldor sets is nice. ELF BATTLE PACK HELL YEAH! But I'm thinking now Smaug will be in wave 3. Quote
just2good Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 For those wanting a $10-$13 set, I don't think we're getting a new one. I think they'll just keep the Riddles of the Ring set out or something. Quote
KazeMonsuta Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I don't get how 2 Dol Guldur sets can be uninspired. We got 2 Orthanc sets this year, remember? The Wizard battle was part of Orthanc, even though the same room is also present in the Tower itself. I'm thrilled to see the sets and the figs that come with them! Quote
zylek Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 If the list Kez found is correct it seems we may not get Smaug, Which would be a shame considering he is in the name of the new movie! I find a few things suspicious about lake town... 1) It says CHASE suggesting something is after them 2) Even with lego's less than brilliant PPP ratio £49.99 would be insane, So they may be keeping something from us. 3) Lego isn't going to get a major character slip through without being built, Otherwise what sort of business people would they be? 4) We haven't yet seen a box so there could be more to it. I believe we have only seen the buildings of lake town, And at the last minute they will show us that smaug is actually in there. My theory is probably rubbish but its something to consider anyway. I remember in the DOS preview event, they showed Bard being chased through Lake Town by humans. Quote
Eurolock Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hmm......interesting. Two Dol Guldor sets is nice. ELF BATTLE PACK HELL YEAH! But I'm thinking now Smaug will be in wave 3. Smaug being in wave 3 could be seen as a fairly significant spoiler wrt the ending of DOS....... But then again, given Lego's recent track record for accuracy when it comes to movie events (e.g. iron man 3), you can't read too much into their depiction of events. Quote
Eurolock Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I don't get how 2 Dol Guldur sets can be uninspired. Didn't mean to imply that a Dol Guldor set would be dull....on the contrary it could be awesome. We just don't really know at this stage exactly how the Dol Guldor 'battle' is going to play out and so its difficult to know what to expect from the lego set. I just think that the set list announced seems to have some strange omissions and not much in the way of focus on the dwarves/Bilbo. If we had Beorn's house and confirmation of Smaug it would appear much more comprehensive/balanced wrt coverage of the (likely) events of the movie. Quote
australopithecine Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hopefully Smaug will be a huge UCS set along the lines of the Death Star. Anything less will not do him justice. I too would like to see Bjorn, and a Tom Bombadill, even though he isn't in any of the movies. As a big Tolkien fan since high school, I don't really like the liberties Jackson has taken with the story. But the movies are stunningly beautiful, so I do watch them. Lego has done a great job with these sets so far, and I hope the line continues for years to come, to the point that we have sets based on The Silmarillion. Who wouldn't want a Forging of the Silmarils set? :) Quote
just2good Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Maybe Smaug in the Dol Guldor Battle set? I'm being hopeful, guys. Quote
LegoThomas Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 The set list might be pure speculation. Remember the first rumoured set list for the last Lotr wave? I can recall reading something like "eagles nest" and stuff. But if only 4 sets and no smaug... maybe we get an ucs smaug like the tower of orthanc. Quote
Eurolock Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Maybe Smaug in the Dol Guldor Battle set? I'm being hopeful, guys. Even Peter Jackson wouldn't deviate that far from the book....though with the combined creativity of Jackson and Lego I guess anything is possible. Perhaps Smaug will cruise down the Celduin on a flick-fire armed powerboat. Edited August 7, 2013 by Eurolock Quote
zylek Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Well a big Dol Guldor battle set might be our best chance to get a Galadriel, since they already laid the groundwork in AUJ for her to come to Gandalf's aid when he needs it. Quote
Fives Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 The whole wave sounds INTERESTING, but I feel like, if this is it, LEGO dropped the ball a bit. No sign of Beorn or Smaug (two very important characters from the book), yet two sets baswed on Dol Guldur (something never mentioned in the book). The Elf Army set sounds like it will become another favourite, like Uruk Army has been. Hopefully it won't have any named characters, except maybe Azog and Tauriel (new hair). While two Dol Guldur sets seems like overkill, it may be a way for LEGO to give us all of the White Council without cramming up minifig space in one set. Radagast and Gandalf could be in the smaller set, battling a Nazgul or something, while Elrond, Galadriel and Saruman could be in the big set with Sauron and stuff. I was REALLY looking forward to Smaug. So, I'm a little disappointed at the moment. Hopefully once some pictures surface, my mind will change a bit. Regardless, I'm gonna buy all the sets anyway! Quote
sup2yous Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Yes the dol guldur set was exactly what I was hoping for! :) Quote
legomonk Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I am excited about the set list but pensive about its accuracy. I do want more elves and dol guldur sets will increase the amount of nice ruined style structures. I am still worried I will not get an azog, since I would never pay (or my wife would kill me if I did) 1000$+ for the figure. I think Lego is getting it that “we” want battle pack style sets and so I am hopeful on that front. Quote
Niku Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Well the sets by the name appear to be decent, I agree with many at the point that is strange no sets for Beorn or Smaug. Then I was thinking, could not be that Beorn set is an exclusive set for Target? just like the orc forge for LOTR and that is why it does not appear at the list. And even more speculation, that perhaps Smaug is in a set so much detailed like the Tower of Orthanc, and waiting for be revealed at the end of the year? One last thing do you think the sets of spiders on mirkwood and the barrels will continue on production on this wave, or better get them before they go out of the market? Quote
Kez Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Yes the dol guldur set was exactly what I was hoping for! :) Have you seen an image of it or are you just mentioning the list? Quote
Blakstone Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 One last thing do you think the sets of spiders on mirkwood and the barrels will continue on production on this wave, or better get them before they go out of the market? Mirkwood spiders have hit clearance at one of my local stores. I would not count on them being available when Wave 2 comes out. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I've just watched the trailer again and I think we might get Thrain, seeing that one of the Dol Guldur sets contains the word "ambush". Of course this could refer to several kinds of attacks (conducted by Bolg, generic orcs, Ringwraiths, the Necromancer etc.), but that would make the most sense to me. Just throw in Radagast (preferably with an animal as accessory) and I'll be happy Quote
General Magma Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Anyone else here who thinks Radagast's hat might feature the same kind of thing as the scarecrow minifig and Lone Ranger's Tonto, allowing for some kind of bird (or anything else that fits in the tiny hole) to be added? Quote

Darth Caedus Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 79011 Dol Guldur Ambush £19.99 Likely will have Radagast, since he's at Dol Guldur with Gandalf when he says 'what if it's a trap' in the trailer. 79012 Mirkwood Elf Army £29.99 Yessssssss. I smell a battlepack. Annoyingly $30 again, but from the Hobbit line, I'll take what I can get. 79013 Lake Town Chase £49.99 already discussed. 79014 Dol Guldur Battle £69.99 Hopefully it won't suck like the Wall and Door of Moria. I don't expect too much, but I bet this is where we will see a Hobbit Elrond and a Galadriel. Goody goody. Quote
deskp Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 So it would seem the cheap set and the expensive set is not revealed yet? Lego always does a super cheap and a relatively exnesive set. Quote
Fives Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 So it would seem the cheap set and the expensive set is not revealed yet? Lego always does a super cheap and a relatively exnesive set. That's what I'm hoping. This may not be a full list. Still seems like Thranduil isn't anywhere, unless in the smallest set. The biggest set with undoubtedly be based around Smaug's final hours. Quote
legomonk Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Does seem like the list is incomplete witch does make me question the authenticity. Quote
