Darth Malgus Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Hopefully we get to see them soon, I like the sounds of the set. At least it seems like Dol Goldur will have decent structure behind it. Quote
Legoman123 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Sorry if you guys already know, but I have just seen this on lord of the brick... 79011 Dol Guldur Ambush : This set includes Beorn with an ax and two Gunbadad Orcs (with hair), one equipped with a shoulder armor. The set, a ruin in Dark Grey. 79012 Mirkwood Elf Army : The set includes Thranduil with armor, crown and identical to that of Aragorn sword, two elves (Dark Green with Brown armor) equipped with hoods, and an elf with hair (without hood so). Elves are printed with shields. A Warg in Dark Brown and 2 orcs (Dark Tan) are in this set. 79014 Dol Guldur Battle : The set includes Gandalf , Radagast (with hat and beard) The Necromancer (Black with a green skull) Azog in Tan identical to the exclusive minifig of San Diego Comic Con 2013 and 2 Gunbadad Orcs , different orcs we already know and equipped with white paint war. One of the orcs is not wearing a shoulder armor, the other. No hair on the orcs. The set, a ruin in Dark Grey with a statue of a woman. No Bolg in this wave set. Quote
CMP Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I'm really liking the sound of these. New orcs, finally, plus Radagast and more elves. Quote
Blakstone Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Looks to be a good summery of what Darins Bane posted. I am excited. LEGO World starts today and goes through next Tuesday. I really hope we get photos of the sets at this event. This will be a very strong wave for me... though I am likely to break down the sets for parts rather quickly. Quote
Kez Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) Sounds as if images may appear rather soon, thanks durins for the information on the sets, and as mentioned above lets hope these sets will be revealed then at lego world. Edited October 16, 2013 by Kez Quote

Sure feel bad for the crazy people buying up Azog for over 300 bucks.....NOT. Quote
Shroffy123 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 @matticus, I was going to say the same thing. Quote

WEREWOLF Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 will cost us $70 to get Azog and much more Quote
Eurolock Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 ....what is Azog doing at Dol Guldor? Interesting. Minifigure selection is impressive overall. Absence of Bolg is disappointing though..everything seems to point to the role and/or design of the character being changed. Quote

Maybe Azog is taking Bolg's place in the story, that's what everthing is pointing to Quote
Deathleech Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Maybe Azog is taking Bolg's place in the story, that's what everthing is pointing to Hard to say at this point considering neither was in the book, except for Bolg at the very end. This wave, if what we are hearing is true, seems really good. I wonder if people will bother buying multiples of the Dol Guldur Ambush since the Mirkwood Elf Army set seems superior for army building. 2 Orc grunts, 3 (?) unnamed elves, and a brown Warg all make it appealing for multiple purchases. Meanwhile DG Ambush only has the 2 Orcs. Each have the one named character. I suppose if you want to just beef up your orc army and nothing else, DG Ambush might be appealing to buy en mass? Quote
Darth Caedus Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 If DGA is a great parts pack and is modular with DGB, then it will be a strong potential multiple-purchase - I can see getting 2 at least due to the low price and the unique Beorn hairpiece that can be reused elsewhere. But that Darkbrown Warg in MEA makes it reallllly appealing. Armybuilding Warg cavalry and Elves at the same time is a hot prospect. Quote

Ya, the only problem is it was listed as being £19.99 so that's pretty expensive for only 3 minifigs. I am guessing that will be about $29.99 U.S. if true. Not really worth it for army building when you can get 2 Orcs in the Mirkwood Elf Army, plus the brown Warg, plus 3 elf soldiers for a mere £10 more. Depending how the orcs look in it will decide if I buy more than one. I can see myself maybe buying a couple just so I have more orcs with variety, though I will buy TONS of the Mirkwood Elf Army set. Edited October 17, 2013 by Deathleech Quote

I'm going to wait and see exactly, but I'll probably get multiples of both. It mostly depends on pricing, as I'd quite like lots of orcs (I like my orcs to outnumber the good guys!). This wave is looking to be my favourite out of all the hobbit and LOTR waves. Quote
Alcarin Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Beorn is in ambush. And like i said 2 orcs per set one with armor and one without. Only orc hair pieces are in ambush. Mirkwood elf army Has thranduil with crown/hair mold, 2 hooded elves, and one elf with a hair piece. they are all armed in dark green. they do not look like the elves from the trailers. I am really disappointed out of 3 Elves in Mirkwood Elf Army set we will not get a single Elf fully armed and armored as in trailer with helmet shield sword and armor..... This will be my biggest disappointment! And the second are those annoying and TOO BIG hoods they use.... I hope atleast the elves (all of them) will get a CLOAK in dark green! Stocked for brown warg... Quote
Deathleech Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 The more I think about it I will prolly just Bricklink extra Orcs from this wave if I want them, rather than buy the Dul Guldur Ambush multiple times. I don't see much point in paying over $20 bucks for 3 minifigures, 1 of which I will have little to no use for after I get the initial one. If the price is wrong and it's a $12.99 set or something I would prolly skip BL and buy the set, but unless the build/pieces are amazing it just don't make much sense for 2 Orcs at £19.99. Quote

Thig is if these orcs are new ... 2 of them will go for like 70-80% of set cost for the first few months until the discounts hit us... Quote
greeny Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Oh wow these sets sound great! I'm hoping that the two Dol Guldur sets can connect with eachother. Quote
hench Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Beorn, Azog, Thranduil and Radagast. It sounds fantastic! Quote
zylek Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 The Mirkwood Elf Army pack sounds like this years Uruk Army set. They both contained a named character (Thranduil for this one and Eomer for Uruk Army), some generic soldiers and a beast (horse/warg). I modded my extra 3 Eomers to be generic Rohirrim and I'm sure we'll find a way to mod Thranduil into a generic elven soldier. If it looks as good as I expect it to be, I'll be getting a few and probably more when good sales pop up. I'm loving what this wave seems to contain, my biggest disappointment is that Galadriel isn't in the Dol Guldur set because I figured it would be our best chance to get her since her other scenes aren't action oriented and less likely to be made into sets. Mahtion Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I am really disappointed out of 3 Elves in Mirkwood Elf Army set we will not get a single Elf fully armed and armored as in trailer with helmet shield sword and armor..... This will be my biggest disappointment! This is the saddest news I have heard! This was a chance to finally get armored elves other than Elrond (preorder hard to find) and Haldir ($15 minifig). I was hoping to see molded elven helmets and a new sword mold that could be reused for several elven minifigs down the road. It figures out of all the great looking Mirkwood soldier/guard uniforms Lego would choose the least interesting same green/brown as before. Those Mirkwood elite armored soldiers are one of the best designs ever made by Weta since the Noldorin Prologue armor, such a shame they will never be found in Lego form. I just don't understand Lego's rationale. According to Durinsbane the elves have a new printed shield which sounds like it could be the giant tower shields the armored elves use in the trailer. Why make these and recreate that scene but then insert boring ranger/border grunts? Seems odd but I'm still excited by the design of the wall and elven tower as seen in the trailer. I hope Lego does the set proper justice and looks the part! Quote
Mutant Orc Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 (edited) Maybe we'll get Galadriel in a LOTR wave... Most of the characters I was hoping for ave been made. Edited October 17, 2013 by Mutant Orc Quote
