Not bad, However they all look very same-y. They all consist of a standard castle wall with a small play feature. Would have liked a tree or a cart or anything to differ them. Not bad anyway but i will most likely just buy one or two sets from this wave.

Thank you, but horrible pic

I like the look of the size of Dol Guldur! it really seems to be a full fortress it also looks adjustable between a long walled structure and a full fortress. I also spot ole necromancer up there. I also see azog (tan) in one of the function images. I also see radagast there next to the left part of the image and Gandalf in his hat on top of the box. Plus it looks like there is an instruction to combine it with the ambush set. the elf one looks quite good I see some cool figures and a decent structure there. The new orcs look very cool I can see clear differences and armour.

From what I can tell, the box art is beautiful. It seems like we're getting all the figs we've been told about. It also looks like the biggest set (the one on the right, likely the back of the box of Dol Guldur Battle) has an image on the bottom that depicts its length, or perhaps how it can attach to the Dol Guldur Ambush set.

Hopefully high resolution pics surface soon (GRogall can't arrive soon enough!)

:/ I donno what to think about it...

Like Joker said, they all look the same. Fortunately we have Laketown in this wave + nice minifigs like Azog that we can see on the third set of the picture.

Little but better here

Hang on a sec there appears to be three elves on the minifigure selection for the elf set apart from thrandruil rather than the two elves other than thranduil previously reported. Also noticed that there seem to be bridges/ramps leading down from both walls of the fortress, one of which appears to have the necromancer standing on. Also Gandalf if I'm not mistaken has a new hairpiece if that figure with the long hair and grey cape is indeed Gandalf.

Looks like two with hoods/quivers and one with hair. I think that was reported already, back when we heard news of the prelims.

I gotta say I am a little disappointed after seeing these pics. I know the pics are blurry, but from what I can make out these sets aren't quite as good as I was imagining. The Dol Guldur Ambush looks like a glorified Riddles for the Ring set with different minifigures. The orcs as a whole STILL appear to use a lot of the same pieces we have already seen in previous LotR/Hobbit sets (same hair/ear piece, weapons, and loin cloth legs? *sigh*). The orcs don't even look that different from the Mordor versions we already have gotten. The elf hair on the grunt looks to be the same we have already gotten as well. The brown Warg looks like it is WAY to dark brown. The Dol Guldur Battle set looks like little more than a wall with very few pointed towers that define how it looks in the films. I am left wishing it would of been a $100 or even 130 set and be more than 3 walls and a single tower.

On the positive, from what I can see, Thranduil, Beorn, and the print on the hooded elves looks pretty good. Is Thranduil's hair also a rehash? Beorn's hair looks good. Azog is also great (based on the SDCC pics we saw). It's hard to make much out on the Dul Guldur Battle set since the pic is so small. I am hoping better quality pics will make these sets look significantly better, but based on what I can see all I can say is at the moment I am a little let down based on my expectations :sceptic:

Is there a brown Warg in that Elf army set?? if yes, I am surely buying that one!! And the orcs seem to have a new torso, not sure though. It seems more metally, if there is more armor printed on.

So, I am happy the pics are out, I wish they weren't this blurry. But the sets are cool, as far as I can tell by these pics.

The orcs prints are all new, new colored skin aswell. The orcs we got in warg cahse sets was a jumbled togetehr work to make them look liek waht we are getting properly now.

Thranduils hair is all new with his crown.

The ambush set is great, it is the entrance to Dol guldur, it's an architeculral symbol, not some random rock like like RIddles set.

The Warg is the normal dark brown, so it'll look as brown as the current bear

Dol guldur battle 797 pieces for 69£ is a scoop! Its not supposed to be the whole fortress, just the courtyard

_____

It looks like on the bottom of the box there is a picture of 2 dol guldur battle sets conntected in the middle with 1 ambush set.

^ when people say better than the first wave are they forgetting An Unexpected Gathering which is one of the greatest lego sets ever, cant seeing anything in the new wave as good as that, the first wave was also better cos it was bigger, 6 sets.

To be honest I think saying a wave is better depends on how many sets you are willing to buy (or wanting to)

From first wave I only ever wanted to buy Unexpected Gathering.... but from this wave I want to buy 2/4 sets... so overall this wave makes it better

I think this wave is better overall than the first one. An Unexpected Gathering was a stand out in an otherwise average wave.

oh no, just got my 2 black gates and was counting on this wave not costing as much but with the army building and now this, do I need 2 of each figs?

Actually to be honest I would've bought Unexpected Gathering but I did not really like the figs so I skipped it... and only got the structure for cheap lol

So technically I bought 0 sets from Hobbit wave 1 and ALL (except Shelob) from LOTR wave 1....

Now from wave 2 LOTR I bought 0 so far (Bricklinked Orthanc Saruman for relatively good cash)

Well the torso and head appear to be new prints, but they look the same color to me? Maybe they aren't the same and are just really similar. The legs look like they might be a slightly darker color, as does the ear/hair piece. It looks like LEgo used the same old pieces for these parts so they don't match color as well with the rest of the "lighter" colored orcs?

The ambush set is great, it is the entrance to Dol guldur, it's an architeculral symbol, not some random rock like like RIddles set.

It looks like the Dol Guldur Battle set has some sort of gate/opening though...? If so the DG Ambush is sort of redundant dontcha thing?

The Warg is the normal dark brown, so it'll look as brown as the current bear

Ya that's what I thought, which is a shame. I guess it's closer to the Wargs in the Hobbit, but I was personally hoping for the lighter brown, almost tan colored Wargs seen in the LotR films.

Meh, I would rather the actual keep/castle than a simple wall with a tower for the court yard, even if it means a higher price. At least then it would be more distinguishable.

I would say this wave is just as good because, other than Gandalf and Bilbo, every fig is new. The first wave was pretty much all dwarves, and the the other characters necessary to accompany them in the sets. This time around, we're getting more secondary characters, and completely new orcs and Elves.

One thing I noticed is that Beorn looks to be the same size as a normal minifig. That's a major missed chance for LEGO. Just reuse the Toy Story arms and legs. Simple.

LOTR wave 1 was great, Im not sure about this 2rd hobbit wave, only 4 sets and the £20 one does not look like a there is much of a build the 7 fig and a warg looks good and the big set could be too hard to tell.

To be honest I never liked those mixed figures... Either maxifigures (as troll, rancor etc) or normal figures... those middle sizes look LAME to me.....

It seems Mirkwood elf army has loads of pieces (looks like huge stuff to build allthough it might be due to being smaller boxes! )
