TheLegoDr Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Straight on, the ears on Thranduil look a lot better, but I think it will still look like neck ears when it is all said and done. Thanks for the pictures. Close up shots of those figures really help seal the deal for me. I may want to buy more than originally expected (as in extras of some sets). Bard may be one of the coolest looking LEGO figures this year though. For some reason, he just looks bad *** Quote
just2good Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Just scanned them. I would have pieced the first three together, but I just don't have time at the moment. {pics} Mods: If these images are too big, or if I have exceeded the image allotment per post, I apologize - feel free to edit my post. It's been forever since I uploaded any images to threads. Nice and thank you! I'm glad they're giving The Hobbit sets four pages in the Club magazine, as it's always nice to get the word out on them. Infernum Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 So the ring that is under the statue in Dol Guldur IS suppose to be the One Ring! Ha, ha, just what I thought! Who knows if it is in the movie or not...? Quote
The_Creator Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 You're welcome everyone - always glad to help. So the ring that is under the statue in Dol Guldur IS suppose to be the One Ring! And Bilbo loses his ring in Laketown? I wonder if this stuff is all actually from the movie or just little things Lego made up themselves. I would think that, from what I've heard, the license holders dictate what the basic sets look like and what minifigures are in them. If that applies to this license then I'd assume the One Ring is there in the movie - how it'll play out though, that'll be interesting. Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) EDIT: AH so those are the dungeons of Dol Guldur!!!!judging by the trailer and footage I saw tonight on the live stream that seems accurate! Looks like Gandalf has his sword in this set after all? the box art didn't show it yet we are yet to get more views of that set from Lego so only time will tell I guess. I look forward to collecting the sets and seeing the movie. I need to catch up on AUJ sets I think though! Edited November 5, 2013 by ZCerberus DO NOT quote images, especially ones this huge. Quote
Deathleech Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 That's a normal sword just from a weird angle, nothing special. Quote
deskp Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks for the pictures! ncie to see both Thranduil and Radagast has normal faces. Why do they cut off the back points of Thranduil's crown in half the pictures he's in though? Quote

I suggest you upload them to flickr as that site will automatically resize the images to multiple. more appropriately sized options. Quote

Infernum Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 kicked it up to 1024 x 768. Wait really? I didn't know that... Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 That's a normal sword just from a weird angle, nothing special. Yes I know that! I was just saying he had a sword because on the box art it looked like he didn't and in all the video/photos seeming to depict the movie scenes of this set he had one. So nice Lego gave him one. Not that those swords are hard to come by. I love the radagast and I think if I looked correctly radagast has a different facial expression on that page than in the set photo. A double sided face I hope? Also after seeing the new trailer on the live stream last night I can confirm that the orcs in the previous trailer are marching through the ruins of Dol Guldur. Perhaps to this fight. Footage also showed Gandalf in a cage under an eerie green lit scene with scars on his face looking sad! Take a gander: Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Looks like the product page on lego.com is currently getting an update, the new background art for DOS and two pictures of 79012 have been added: http://thehobbit.lego.com/en-us# Quote
Kez Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks for the images, the sets look great, I cant wait to pick them all up Quote
deskp Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Why do they not do a better job printing thranduil's crown closer to his face... Quote
Deathleech Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 2:07.. Bard's black arrow flying towards Smaug? Looks like it's being shot from some sort of large bolt thrower though (which would make more sense anyways, never understood... how a tiny arrow with no magical properties could kill an enormous dragon like Smaug. It would be like getting a splinter in your chest, it hardly would kill you. Quote

It's not Bard it's Girion, and its from Smaugs first meeting with Dale, You see this in the EE and propably in an extended flashback in DOS: Quote
Deathleech Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Extended Edition of the Hobbut: AUJ? Where is it? According the theonering.net, there is no extra footage of Girion or Dale, just a quick few extra shots of Smaug flying around in the present? Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Slightly Unrelated but gives a good view into the hobbit and what is going on a bit more in depth. Watch for 2:47 where Sylvester McCoy (radagast) makes a Lego related joke. Warning this video may contain a swearing grey wizard. Quote
Legoman123 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Every image makes me more and more exited. Quote

According the theonering.net, there is no extra footage of Girion or Dale, just a quick few extra shots of Smaug flying around in the present? It is during the prologue when smaug is attacking Dale. Just the same few seconds we see in the dos trailers. if it is Girion we have no confirmation on but it propably is acording to people whose read the books. http://www-images.th...ailer02-083.jpg Edited November 5, 2013 by deskp Quote
Infernum Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 The December calendar says the sets are officially available on the 1st of December. Quote

According the theonering.net, there is no extra footage of Girion or Dale, just a quick few extra shots of Smaug flying around in the present? Tsk tsk Deathleech, the EE's been out for weeks now, any self-respecting Tolkienite has acquired it by now ;) In all seriousness, there's a short bit where a Man of Dale fires a ballista, but the projectile glances off Smaug's hide harmlessly. They keep showing it in the trailers because there will be a flashback to Girion, Lord of Dale halfway through TDOS (proven by the leaked listing for the TDOS soundtrack, which has a track called Girion halfway through). deskp Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 The stylized pix of the lake town set are up on the lego site. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) Just found a new picture of 79014 on spielwarenkontor24.de: http://www.spielwaren-kontor24.de/lego/lego-hobbit/18731/lego-hobbit-schlacht-von-dol-guldur-79014 Too bad it can't be enlarged, I really want to see a close-up of Radagast's neutral face (the one in the magazine doesn't count ) Edited November 6, 2013 by Lego-Freak Quote
