Mr Breden Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Huh, the Necromancer looks gray in this Picture Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 That looks awfully tiny for 80 bucks. Or are the exclusice minifigs driving up the price? Quote
Kez Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 When I received my lego catalogue today I just noticed that funnily enough 79011 Dol Guldur ambush doesn't appear in the magazine, does anyone know why this is? Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 When I received my lego catalogue today I just noticed that funnily enough 79011 Dol Guldur ambush doesn't appear in the magazine, does anyone know why this is? Same here. Maybe because it is a small set and the others they have listed are larger ones? In my catalogue I got today guys in the UK it lists the sets for release 1st December and the prices are as I expected but reasonable: Dol Guldur battle £69.99, mirkwood elf army £29.99. lake town chase £49.99 so I'm guessing Dol Guldur ambush is £20 or under for what you get. I personally hope for £15 but I doubt it will be! Its annoying cause I like the figures and want to get it with Dol Guldur battle to connect it, but £20 for a door and 3 figures? Better be great big door as the shelob set was worth it for the giant shelob(much bigger than the door)! I would love for it to be only £12- £15 but that probably won't happen! Quote
Legoman123 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I am really surprised that 79011 Dol Guldur is not in the lego catalogue. There is only four hobbit sets this wave, so putting all of them in the catalogue shouldn't be a problem in my opinion. Huh, the Necromancer looks gray in this Picture I actually think that he is 'glow in the dark'. Quote
Faefrost Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Huh, the Necromancer looks gray in this Picture I think it's just lighting. He seems pretty clearly black in most other pics. I am actually warming to the fig now that I have seen a few better pictures. It doesn't look so much like an ape, as a wailing ghost printed on a black minifig. I think the head, if paired with a black hood, will make an extremely useful piece for Castle and Horror builders. It has a sort of Edward Muench Scream feel to it. Quote
Deathleech Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Tsk tsk Deathleech, the EE's been out for weeks now, any self-respecting Tolkienite has acquired it by now ;) In all seriousness, there's a short bit where a Man of Dale fires a ballista, but the projectile glances off Smaug's hide harmlessly. They keep showing it in the trailers because there will be a flashback to Girion, Lord of Dale halfway through TDOS (proven by the leaked listing for the TDOS soundtrack, which has a track called Girion halfway through). Well in my defense only the digital copies have been out for weeks, the actual DVD and Blu-Ray hard copies just came out yesterday. I am hoping they will do a really good, complete EE edition of all three movies once they are released so I have waited to purchase them. It helps I don't find AUJ particularly good, but then again the book wasn't terribly amazing either imo (especially compared to LotR, though I know it was intended as a children's tale). Anyways, Dol Guldur Battle should be $70 here in the U.S.? That would make the most sense, it has 6 minifigures like An Unexpected Gathering and looks about the same size (maybe slightly bigger). $80 seems like a bit much for what we get (only one-two new molds really if you count Radagast's hat and Azog, even though he has appeared in limited quantities before). The Necromancer's chest and face definitely look gray in those pics though, where as before it was more an eery green? Quote

Ah yes very true indeed, well I too was curious on the price tag for that set, I reckon it will be £20 but Im actually very happy with the prices of these sets, I cant wait to pick them all up Quote
Lynx Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 That looks awfully tiny for 80 bucks. Wasn't that the U.S. price for Mines of Moria? Looks like roughly the same size but minus the big cave troll. I wonder how much this will retail for in Australia... Quote

I wonder how much this will retail for in Australia... I am expecting much the same prices as Mines Of Moria ($120), Weathertop/Attack Of The Wargs ($90/100), Uruk Hai Army ($60) and Shelob Attacks ($35/40). That's going by the Euro prices. Quote

Peter Jackson said once all are out he's making a box set with all 6 extended Tolkien movies. That's why I'm waiting. Back on topic, I think Necromancer is GITD. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 To me, the necromancer looks clearly black. Compare against the light gray on his chest and compare against the dark gray on Gandalf. Black flows with the shadow aspect too. As far as size, a bit disappointed in actual set size. I'll pick it up, but it isn't something I'm dying to have compared to the others. I think I will pick up extras of the smaller set/s though. Quote

The Necromancer's chest and face definitely look gray in those pics though, where as before it was more an eery green? Fair enough. I'm buying my hardcopy this week, but I downloaded it a couple weeks ago and have rewatched it many times. The EE is definitely better, though the additions are still limited compared to the 'original trilogy.' Rivendell really gets expanded upon, which is great. Waiting for a boxset of the three extended editions is reasonable, though, I suppose. Personally, I dream of a super-extended 6-film saga-set when all's said and done, reincorporating even more old footage (Eowyn defending the caves, for instance) and maybe even some new stuff (glimpsing the battles of Lorien and siege of Erebor with Brand and Bard II in ROTK is a fantasy, but it'd be awesome). More likely we'll just get a superset of all the extended editions with a deleted-scenes reel and even more extras. Grey Necromancer is an interesting change. Still irksome that Azog is a weird shade of tan. Quote
wesker Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 The Necromancer still looks black to me. Quote

Lynx Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Too much I think! That's what I fear. If it sells for 120AUD, as Artanis suggested, we would be much better of brick-linking Radagast, Necromancer, Azog and the two orcs. I expect this would not exceed 50 bucks plus shipping. Paying 60 $ for another Gandalf and a (in my opinion) very mediocre set is too steep. Quote

deskp Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 For some reason lego put the 'triangle' under the statue the wrong way around. Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) For some reason lego put the 'triangle' under the statue the wrong way around. Apart from that however it looks reasonably accurate!! Its a bit smaller than the set but detail wise its generally good. From the layout of the set and the Lego details I can see an epic battle going on here at some point in the film. It is a large open space which makes it prime for that sort of thing! Edited November 8, 2013 by ZCerberus Are you kidding me? Quoting another image? Quote

Blazej_Holen Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 http://www.flickr.com/photos/92826309@N07/ My idea how to upgrade original set - Lego Lake town chase... It should look like this, it contains only around 580 pcs without figs... Quote

But if it was how the set was I'd say it's abit too bland. Quote
