Deathleech Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Some TRU stores seem to be letting people even though they technically aren't suppose to until Dec 1. It's prolly hit and miss. Mine wouldn't let me buy them but some other guy was able to. Quote
deskp Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) So they have them on stock? On shelves? With prices? And you can't buy them???? wHAT THE HeCk? Its lack of communication, most of the time its standard for stores to put new stock on shelves when they get them. But when tis the stores fault, they should allow the guy to buy them, then take them down. Edited November 16, 2013 by deskp Quote

Deathleech Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Ya tell me about it. I had a really fun time at TRU tonight too. Not. It started out great, I went into the store and saw the new Hobbit sets out on shelves with an MSRP price tag and got all excited. I swoop several up and take them up to the register. There were only 3 registers open and one was cash only. The register had 3 people in line and the third only had two woman who were together. I go to the line with two woman only to stand in it for over 10 minutes as the ladies argue with the cashier that the 25% off advertised in the paper is for their items as well (they had some coupon which was only for specific items it didn't include what they were buying but TRU apparently had a sign up in the wrong area or something). After waiting for them to get a manager and check the price I decide it will be quicker to go to a different register as the line seemed to die down. Of course when I get over there I realize some lady has a huge cart full of literally 30+ items. Rather than letting me go ahead and get out of there with my 6 sets, she decides to start unloading it all. Finally after another 5-10 minutes I get up to the register and am finally about to be out of that dreadful store, only to have the cashier ring up the sets and say they shouldn't be out and are being listed as not for sale till December 1st. I am like well there is no way to sell them now? You have them all out with price tags. She calls up the manager who says they have to follow the street date or they can get in some serious trouble. I end up leaving empty handed and hating TRU even more so than usual. Quote
deskp Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I dont imagine stores enjoy having stock they cant sell 3 weeks in advance. I mean, it also doesent help the sales for the hobbit sets, because in january new sets releases for other themes aswell. Quote
Floundie Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Can't someone just like open one up in the store and check the instructions? Quote
deskp Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Can't someone just like open one up in the store and check the instructions? The guy from brckset forums said he'll open the ones he got tomorrow. Quote
Deathleech Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Some other guy got the sets and opened em, here is what he said about the advertisement: No advertisement for 2014 Lord of the Rings, but there is an advertisement for a LEGO The Hobbit videogame for Spring 2014 (Xbox Live, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation, PC, Wii U as far as what's listed), as well as LEGO The Hobbit There and Back Again sets for 2014. It technically doesn't say anything about *sets*, but dunno what else the ad would be for. It also says "The journey concludes in 2014!" Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Concludes makes sense regarding the movies, but that sounds like impending doom for future sets. I'd like to see more after, but who knows what they could come up with. I guess we will find out tomorrow. Quote

Robert_88 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Sad 'bout LOTR 2014 though I'm still hoping... :( Quote
SandMirror38 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 ^ So am I... Does this mean we will get a minifigure exclusive with the HVG? I might actually preorder something for once.... Even though I can't really play video games Quote
SandMirror38 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 ^ Lego downsized their boxes recently as people where getting annoyed for paying heaps and buying these massive boxes with barley any lego in them Quote
N7LEGO Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) I'm going to my local store in Belgium this afternoon. They had the LOTR sets 2 weeks before the last time. Edited November 16, 2013 by N7LEGO Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) So at least we're going to get a final wave for TABA it seems... Perhaps they planned the release of the sets in Summer 2014 (when the film was originally supposed to be released) and couldn't come up with new LOTR sets to fill the gap because of time restraints? I can't see them still releasing the sets in summer, that would be quite weird BTW: a release date for the game isn't mentioned anywhere on that ad, so I wouldn't expect it to be published any time before late autumn Edited November 16, 2013 by Lego-Freak Quote
Manx Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I liked previous line more, it was orientated on book, but those sets are visualiting things that are not in book, only in film. And they are army-building. Quote
Lynx Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 No LotR add? This is the first time I am feeling nervous about the continuation of the line. I still hope for Faramir, Eowyn and others, but based on past adds, this is worrisome, indeed. :( Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Glad we are getting a TABA line. Have to say though it would be funny if they still released the sets in the summer and then we had to wait til December to understand what they were about! Unless they are doing a set the in summer perhaps, from DOS such as one with smaug and then in December doing the TABA wave. It seems like the smart thing to do. Like what they did with the dark knight rises set release it the year after the movie plus it would make sense as I doubt from what we have seen from the trailer and what has been said by Jackson and co that suggests smaug plays any part in There And Back Again. Plus the cast list for that film that lists benedict as the necromancer only. It would be fitting to have a DOS set in the summer/autumn then the full wave of TABA in December. This would also explain why we wouldn't be getting any LOTR 2014 sets as they would be focussing all their effort on the hobbit line. I'm good with that. If there is no LOTR 2014 then I guess it had a good two year run with some decent figures and sets. I prefer the hobbit though. Sets and movies they just excite me more. probably because I've been able to watch them at the cinema and live through the hype as LOTR I only ever saw on VHS, Blu Ray and DVD. Still I hope they end the hobbit line with a nice big finale to fit in with the movies. Quote
KristofBD Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Interesting: the second preview picture shows Gandalf with a hair+hat piece... Regarding the LOTR sets: isn't the third movie supposed to be released in the spring? My guess would be one D2C LOTR set shortly after the Hobbit sets, but this is not the right thread to speculate about that I guess. In any case, glad the Hobbit line continues and great to see the sets popping up! Quote
Mr Breden Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I'm still staying optimistic about a Third wave. And if we don't get one, we will at least have more Hobbit sets to look forward too I am a bit confused about the Hobbit game though, it's being released in 2014?, how are they going to use dialog from the Movie, maybe it's being released in December unlike the LotR game. Cammo Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I'm going to my local store in Belgium this afternoon. They had the LOTR sets 2 weeks before the last time. Where exactly? ;) Quote
Darth Punk Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Let the hand wringing begin! So lego decides to advertise a video game for the line they are producing rather that letting people know about another line's third wave, truly horrible. I only say this in anticipation of the endless posts that are sure to follow that will never prove or disprove anything. But that won't keep the same people repeating the same things over and over again as if that will make it true. Sorry to rant but some times I feel I've walked into gobblers knob and its ground hogs day after reading these posts. Quote
