Alfadas Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Are the sets out in the Netherlands yet? I really want them now after I see the figs close-ups! Quote
N7LEGO Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I went in 4 different french stores today and none of them had the new sets :( (Dreamland, Picwik x2, TRU) Quote
deskp Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 SHoudl be noted that the sets aren't supposed to be available uintill december 1st. So dont get annoyed if you don't fin them yet x] Quote
N7LEGO Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 On last year they were avalaible 2 weeks before. Quote
Sirtank Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Found 4 new hobbit sets on the shelf at Toys r us this morning. I decided to pass on the lake town set, but grabbed the other 3. They scanned the regular retail; $19.99, $29.99, and $69.99. It took a little persuading with my wife to ok the purchases, but when the cashier scanned the first set it told her the sets couldn't be sold yet. She called a manager over and The sets were confiscated and pulled from the shelf. I left empty handed. Quote
Mr Breden Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Beorn's one piece head is a pitty but I can live with it. Laketown Guard polybag though , hope fully it will be aviable in Norway, the only Middle Earth themed polybag i've seen here so far is the Gandalf one. Quote
HawkLord Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I worry alittle about the Laketown Guard poly. I only ever found five of the Mirkwood Elf and that was after a stock person found them somewhere else in the store - like someone had stashed them to purchase later. I did find the Frodo one in by the ton and none of the Gandalf one. Hopefully, I might be able to get out hunting and get the jump on the Laketown Guard... Quote
Mutant Orc Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I had HUGE problems with polybags over here. I never clapped eyes on a single Gandalf or Elf polybag ever and I nearly missed the Uruk-hai and Frodo one. the advertising was poor for others that came with newspapers as well- I never got a Lone Ranger one because it had gone by the time I'd realized. FRUSTRATION! Quote
Legonardo Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 beorns beard is quite sad, and im pretty jealous of you americans getting them already, NZ probably wont even have them december 1st and polybag for the guard? sweet, not thats going to appear in NZ, so far we've received.... non of them Quote
Captain Settle Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I'm actually happy for the Legolas polybag. It means I can finally give all those Mirkwood guards actual elf hair. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Too bad about Beorn's headpiece, I would have appreciated a second facial expression Maybe next year in one of the TABA sets... He still looks great though and I don't see any colour differences on the pictures Now that the sets are released, I can't wait to see how long it takes those greedy SDCC Azog- sellers to realize that their "rarity" has lost its worth I will also have fun seeing those scalpers and sellers (and ESPECIALLY the buyers) find this out. However, it was made obvious from the start that he'd be available later on, I mean think about it: Lego gave Azog a new mold and gave him away at rarity at SDCC. Would Lego really take out so much money of their "new moulds" budget for a minifigure to be released at such little production at SDCC? Seriously, less than 500 were made (if memory serves me right) and it was a new mold!!! Lego would never make a new mold for an SDCC exclusive, let alone a main character. These sets though.... so much goodness! Loving those Dol Goldor sets! Especially 79014, ya know, the one with Azog? Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 ^It still won't stop resellers from trying to overprice Azog just because of that issue. Obviously, I'll buy the set, so I won't be overspending on him. A Laketown polybag would be amazing, I just hope I can find it (like everyone else!) I typically can't find the polybags I actually want, just the random bags that everyone seems to get. I found a few of the Mirkwood Elf polybag, which was good, but they went quick. And I'd much rather have Legolas/Laketown Guard polybags. I could always use more elf hairpieces instead of green hoods. If I find any, I may have to buy all that I see. Even though the Mrs won't like that since I'm trying to talk her into me doing a LUGbulk purchase...decisions, decisions. Thanks for the pictures everyone. Quote
Legoman123 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I think I'm going to pick up two Mirkwood Elf Army sets so I can join them together. Quote
Etzel Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Wow, I really didn't expect the one-piece Beorn head-hair combo. I'll better stay a pessimist next time. I can't get my head around how LEGO has thought about this, pieces are supposed to be versatile and useful! But the Lake town guard polybag sounds great! Not that they are available over here but at least it should bring down the price of the minifig on BL. Quote
Floundie Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 :( LOTR, is there still hope. How is LEGO going to fill in the year long gap between the DOS and TABA sets otherwise? They've still got major scenes to cover, Mount Doom is a given and we'll probably see Treebeard and the Balrog. Quote
SMC Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I was thinking we would get a 4th wave but I would take a final 3rd wave now. Quote
Legonardo Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 is radagasts head/beard two or one peice? looks pretty similar to beorns fate to me Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 Doesn't look like it, thank goodness. -Sci Quote
Legonardo Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 phew. oh well, am gonna sell him anyway, mostly sad about not having beorns hairpiece for dwarves Quote
deskp Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Lego has a reason for making Beorns piece like that, there is no ration behind freaking out if they will do that with other normal sized figures. And in Beorns case, atleast they kept the face looking like a normal minifigure, no molded noses or such. Besides they are showing off 2 expressions for Radagast on the box itself. Quote
Deathleech Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I'll better stay a pessimist next time. You don't have to be a pessimist, it's just being logical. A lot of factors pointed towards Beorn's head being one piece. There was no other facial expression shown, the printing looked like one piece in the close up pics, and the biggest indicator (imo), was how much higher the head sat on the minifig's shoulders. Obviously Lego did this to give him some extra height as you can clearly see by the inside of the head where the bars push it up. Why Lego didn't just use the Woody legs and arms is beyond me, it would of gave him more height and still allowed for mixing and matching with his head and hair, as well as a second expression. Maybe they thought his legs would look to lanky and long then? Who knows. I'm actually happy for the Legolas polybag. It means I can finally give all those Mirkwood guards actual elf hair. Eh, it would be better in a darker colo imo. Either the light or dark brown would have been ideal. The blonde/yellow one is too unique to Legolas to really serve as a common grunt imo. Plus, you can BL the yellow ones for less than 2 dollars. Unless the polybag has good parts, that might be a better option. I guess for MOCs the yellow might be ok though. Quote
wesker Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Getting really worried that we won't get a 3rd LOTR wave. Why? Its a mid year wave. We haven't heard news about any mid year wave for any theme yet. Last year we didn't get the LOTR set names until December. At least give it another month before everyone starts panicking. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I don't know where you are seeing Legolas' hair for less than $2. The cheapest I've seen that hair is $2.50 and that was limited sellers at the time. Either way, you'd get a full figure plus bow, maybe quiver for a little more than just the hair piece plus shipping..I think I'd take the polybag. Quote
