I don't know where you are seeing Legolas' hair for less than $2. The cheapest I've seen that hair is $2.50 and that was limited sellers at the time. Either way, you'd get a full figure plus bow, maybe quiver for a little more than just the hair piece plus shipping..I think I'd take the polybag.

Here. The cheapest is going for $1.74 right now and the seller has over 300 of them. Granted it's just the hair, but I see no real use for the Legolas body what with the Mirkwood Elf Army set, and I doubt the rest of the pieces will be rare or useful enough to entice me to spend the other $2.26 on the Legolas poly. Quivers and longbows are worth about 50-70 cents together on BL. I suppose if you only want a few it would probably be better than paying shipping on BL, but if you want a lot and have little use for anything but the hair BL is definetly the way to go.

Why? Its a mid year wave. We haven't heard news about any mid year wave for any theme yet. Last year we didn't get the LOTR set names until December. At least give it another month before everyone starts panicking.

But the 2012 December Hobbit wave last year advertised the summer 2013 LotR wave in the back of the instructions. The 2013 summer LotR wave advertised the 2013 winter Hobbit wave. So far the advertisement is always for the very next wave of sets coming out. It's weird there would be no mention of it this time of a LotR wave and only a Hobbit advertisement...

yeah.

Especialy considering the game ad would kindof cover that the hobbit continues. if there was another lotr wave they wouldnt need to advertise 2014 hobbit game/sets twize.

We might be out of luck....

Wow didn't think of that...

Though they could just do 2 different ads :look:

I think it would be weird if the theme just paused for one wave and then resumed for one final wave. The instruction book advertising There and Back Again sets and The Hobbit Video Game makes it sound like it was just sticking to advertising The Hobbit, so I think there's still a really good chance of LOTR sets in summer 2014. Plus, just because we got an add for LOTR sets in The Hobbit instruction books before doesn't mean it will always be like that. Other themes like superheroes, for example, don't have adds for the next wave at all. I'd still say there's a good chance of LOTR sets in the summer (and a lot of me thinking that is because I want to get as much out of this theme as possible before it ends).

That cheap price for elf hair is in the Czech Republic area, so no way am I paying international shipping prices on hair piece. So the cheapest in USA with any number behind it is around the $2.50 like I said and it only goes up from there (next US sellers are 2.86 and 2.96), plus you still have to add in about $4 shipping on average from what I've ever been charged. So a handful of polybag would be appealing to me. Although I doubt I will find any here.

International shipping for a small bubble mailer is never more than 4 or 5 bucks. If you order like 20-30 of the hair/ears at $1.74 each, with $4-5 shipping, that comes out to be about $2 per hair piece. The polybag will be at least $4, possibly $5 if its at TRU and that's not including the 25-45 cent tax on each.

Of course if you only want a few of the hair pieces then ya, paying several dollars for international shipping for 3 hair pieces or something totally isn't worth it. I may be bias because the yellow hair with ears isn't nearly as valuable to me as the light or dark brown ones, and the body print isn't that great either when I can get it in another set or the Mirkwood Elf Army print instead.

Still not a bad poly by any means. It is definitely better than the Gandalf or Frodo one IMO. It's just not amazing like the Laketown Guard poly. I woulda much rather had a Gundabad Orc instead.

True, I'd prefer darker hair over yellow too, but it still helps. And I probably would grab a small handful at best so doing would cut all savings for me. And the torso isn't ideal for the type of any of be building, but I can make do if I find it.

I got two Mirkwood Spider sets, and by turning the torso round, it looks like another generic Elf Torso. I'm going to try and get the Legolas Polybag to continue getting every set, and get a few more BLY hair pieces for Lorien Elves. I like the look of this wave so far, hope the polybags are widely available unlike the Mirkwood Elf Guard.

Does this mean no large D2C set for this wave?

I won't hold my breath for the polybags. I rather suspect here in the uk we'll get the Legolas one, and the Laketown guard won't show his face. Similar to how we never got the Mirkwood Elf, but we got Gandalf.

I for one, however, will be picking up the DGA, and probably MEA, but I'll pass on the other two (I'll wait for a review of Laketown to decide). I do hope we get another LOTR wave, although I still haven't picked up anything from the current wave (I know, I'm lazy, my local independent stores don't carry licensed and there's not any big stores unless I go to my nearest city, which has an actual lego store haha!).

Grogall has added pictures of 79014 in his brickshelf folder, including close-ups of the minifigs: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=536306

The Necromancer definitely has sand green printing (instead of GITD one), which is why he looked gray in some pictures

It looks really cool up close very creepy and villainous and pretty cool looking design. can't wait to see him in action in the movie.

Looking at that Legolas code and image in the catalogue for the polybag... Is that just the same image that was there listed under the 79001 code last time? Essentially it's just the Legolas figure from Escape from Mirkwood Spiders but they've added a code for an upcoming Polybag release?

I have to say also that any worries on Thranduil are long gone... I think he looks great there and the ears don't look odd at all.

Beorn is also not an issue for me on the 'one piece head' thing... I don't look to modify things as much as some folks here so if Lego feel that's the best way to get the figure they want (and I actually think it looks really good) then I'm fine with that.

I wonder if Lego is trying out some new distribution model this year? It doesn't seem like any theme except City has any really big sets over $80 (besides D2C ones). Both the Hobbit and Lego Movie have their biggest set being only $69.99. Friends looks like it doesn't have anything big over $80, and most of the Star Wars sets we have seen so far all seem to be well under $50. It seems like in most cases Lego is focusing on more smaller sets rather than a few sets in each wave with some being really expensive? Maybe this is why they have the polybags listed in the back too?

Instead of being hard to find, sketchy at best distribution with the polys maybe they are going to have them more readily available along with the normal sets? I really hope so. I know a lot of countries never even see the polybags and in others (even here in America), they can be extremely hard to find.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but today I got mailed the "late christmas" lego catalogue, including all the new hobbit sets (excluding the Beorn one)
