Gryphon Ink Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 In the movie things are not the same as in the book, Pj says the nazgul Radagast fighs is the witch king. As usual, you know more than I do! I wish it was Khamul, though. Changing it to the Witch-King makes Middle-Earth seem smaller. I wish PJ and Co. Would stop changing every single thing from the books. Quote

Lord Vladivus Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 According to book it should be Khamul the Easterling...second of the nine. Not Whitch King of Angmar...Angmar was in Mordor ... And also, later when White council attack Dol Guldur, there were three Nazguls who lead Dol Guldur armies.. Either way, this set needs Twilight nazgul... Which book? I wasn't aware of this? Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Which book? I wasn't aware of this? Unfinished Tales from J.R.R. Tolkien, edited by his son Christopherfrom his father´s notes :) Guess 3th age chapter... Quote

Blazej_Holen Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Ah thanks, I'll have to dig my copy out. There is also battle of river iron. It captures how kings son Theodred died :) And much more... :) Its like behind the main scenes thing... :) Quote
Alfadas Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Elven rangers or Wood elves look like much more better with hood and possibly a cape. Those hairpieces are great and I agree that there should be another hairtype for them, but there are already so many elves with hair...Now we have rangers, and I hope that we will have some knights in future, with helmets and printed plate armor... Sorry for bringing this up again. I agree, Rangers look better with hoodie, normal soldiers with hair, and I really hope that TLG makes knights, with nice helmets, and maybe a new armor piece, that would be great! I know that this should be in future hobbit sets, but this all started here. As far as I'm concerned, this subject is closed now. Quote
montgocloud Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I think the main reason this Hobbit wave doesn't excite me at all is the lack of diversity. Four sets... three of which are based on the same battle (I think the Mirkwood Elf Army is based on the Battle of Dol Guldur). This would be fine if there were six other sets that weren't ruins or castles. But I'll still buy all the sets to complete my collection and my opinion may change once I see the actual film. Quote

However, the faces are pretty similar (go rewatch the movie scene, I just did, it's a close resemblance). FOTR Witchking's crown has four tall spikes, AUJ Twilight Nazgul's crown has two curved crisscrossing in the front. Actually if anything the AUJ Nazgul looks more like the one to the right of the Witch King in the FotR pic. The crown isn't quite right, but it is closer. And the hair and face look close. Quote
Artanis I Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 It doesn't look like any of them to me, but, everyone is entitled to change their clothes now and then Quote

AUJ: http://www.thelandof...Witch-king4.jpg FOTR: http://media.theiapo...?cdn=1386107633 It is supposed to be the Witch King - there's that explanatory dialogue when his weapon that Radagast has taken as a souvenir is unwrapped and flopped onto the table at Rivendell, and people say something like "Ooh. But Angmar was buried in an unmarked grave in the northern fells blah blah" and Saruman says "Chillax! Calm down everyone" (again, I paraphrase). Why PJ felt the need to do that to the Witch King's back story is beyond me, unless he's just decided that he likes altering everything Tolkien wrote. Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 So I got my December 2013 Calendar and I was told that this promotion "FREE Exclusive LEGO poster with any LEGO The Hobbit purchase!" (December 8-15) Was going to be the poster given out at the VIP event. I'm hoping to get it myself. Quote
CMP Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Why PJ felt the need to do that to the Witch King's back story is beyond me, unless he's just decided that he likes altering everything Tolkien wrote. I think it's because he doesn't have the rights to anything but the Hobbit and LotR, so he can't use stuff from Unfinished Tales. Quote
Darth Caedus Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 It doesn't look like any of them to me, but, everyone is entitled to change their clothes now and then Clothes =/= crowns. Crowns are crowns and would never change, especially for an undead spirit that's locked to a specific form. I think it's because he doesn't have the rights to anything but the Hobbit and LotR, so he can't use stuff from Unfinished Tales. He can only allude to that material in a variety of ways - Blue Wizards, the Nauglamir in the Extended Edition, etc. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I wish I could get ahold of that poster. It looked neat. I'll have to look for one in the aftermarket. Quote

That might be right. It's been a while since I read UT, but I thought most of the Ringwraiths' and the Witch King's background was set to in various parts of the LotR. Anyway, for whatever reason, that background is different to that explained in the Rivendell scene. And a Twilight Ringwraith whether from the Hobbit or LotR would have been a great figure - when we first heard about Dol Guldur Ambush I'd hoped it might be Radagast vs one as in AUJ. Sadly no. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Just noticed the new Hobbit sets were available on S@H (Norway). Anyone know if they just showed up now or if they've been there for a while already? Quote

phanstasm Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Does anyone have concept art of the Azog minifigure? I'm not sold on the design, and was very curious as to the designer's thought process and other ideas. Thanks in advance for any help! Quote
The_Creator Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 What size do you think that poster is? Quote

This way of making special minifigures have been around since they started making Chewbakka. But no thers not been released any making of features for this wave yet. Quote
Darth Punk Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Any idea why amazon is not selling The lake town set. It is only being sold by third parties. Quote
CircleK Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 ^ they were. They are sold out of it and MEA currently. Quote
Darth Punk Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Yeah I was checking but they didn't even have it up for early purchase. I was putting the sets on my Xmas wish list to keep from getting things I don't need. Quote
