Yes but what does Radagast and Beorn are doing in the Dol Guldur sets ? Maybe they'll fight here in the third movie but in this one, not. When I look at the box scenes, I don't recognize the battle I've seen yesterday. And for MEA, even if it's a battlepack, it doesn't really refer to nothing in the movie: Uruk Hai army was combinable to Helm's Deep so it was recognizable as a wall of the fortress. Also, when have you seen Thranduil fighting the orcs in the movie ?

As a lot of people said here, those sets where just a minifigs orgy opportunity.

Radagast doesn't fight at Dol Guldur at all? It seemed like he would since he is always with Gandalf in the trailers. What does Radagast do in the movie then?

Be patient, you will see :)

Spoilers ahead...

Interesting. I always thought it was weird Radagast and Beorn were in the Dol Guldur Lego sets. If you read the book you know neither of them are really interested in the affairs of the other people's of Middle Earth. Beorn just hates orcs and goblins for pushing him out of his home in the mountains and killing his people, but he pretty much distrusts everyone, good and evil alike. Gandalf is hesitant about asking him for a place to stay with the dwarves because of this. Radagast is also mentioned as not really being concerned with any of the good/evil conflicts going on in Middle Earth and instead cares more about nature. He seems more like a recluse hippie than a combatant. Radagast is never mentioned fighting anyone in the Hobbit book and Beorn ONLY arrives at the very end of the Bo5A to kill Bolg.

If that list of new LotR sets is true, when will they be released? And I would certainly buy Amon Hen Ambush, Defense of Osgiliath and witch king showdown, and when I have the money, battle of Minas Tirith. So basicly all of them. They are such great sets! I hope we'll see pics soon!

Depends..if its true...

The list was fake, trust me. There was nothing credible about it from the start. If there's another wave coming up, we'll be sure to see pictures at Toy Fair in February(?). This is Future LOTR talk though.

Whether Radagast was battling at Dol Guldur or not, I'm SO happy to get him via the DGB set. I didn't think we'd get him at all after him not making wave 1.

Posted

After seeing the movie I believe that DGB is a set made from both AUJ and DOS

Did I miss something, or wasn't the movie not supposed to come out in theaters until the 13th? How'd you get to see it?

It was released earlier in other parts of the world. France, Netherlands, Belgium, etc. had it released on the 11th.

Oh, lucky them... I have to wait 2 more days... Darn.

I'm surprised anyone could be upset by the accuracy of the Dol Guldur sets. Sure, the designers kinda used them as a way to just give us lots of figs, but who cares? I'm happy we got Radagast because he was at Dol Guldur in the first film. Makes sense. As for Beorn, I think they took this wave as an opportunity to both make him so A) kids wouldn't go see the movie and then say 'Where is LEGO Beorn?', and B) because they obviously plan to only make his bear form for the TABA wave next year. It may not be film accurate, but it is strategic.

Also, on the discussion of the new LOTR rumours, I have a feeling that Osgiliath will be the 'army builder' of the wave. I really hope that the Ranger is actually Faramir, because it would be a lot easier to make multiple Faramir figs into generic Rangers rather than the other way around.

The new wave of sets in my opinion is great. The figures are a great draw and the fact there is a lot of great MOC pieces is a bonus. They are a perfect mix of figure and pieces sets. Kinda the holy grail of what people that build are looking for. Now I say this is my opinion. I have just started my very first MOC ever and was excited about the parts I was getting out of Dol Guldur battle. All of the parts are useful without having to many large (in my opinion) ugly window pieces. The set says ruins to me and it should. I also am a huge fan of the statue figure. In my current project I am building a church/temple to compliment MMV and MFR sets and this figure is going to look great in it.

The only character in 79011 and 79014 that hasn't been seen at Dol Guldur (yet) is Beorn, but that might change in TABA  Radagast definitely is there in DoS (at least according to the trailers and previews like the one where he and Gandalf discuss the tombs they've found; I have yet to see the film this Friday) and so is Azog :classic: This is just speculation on my part, but maybe Beorn will join the White Council and help them destroy the fortress and than he and Gandalf join forces and set out for the Bo5A together? PJ has said that Beorn's role is expanded in the movies, so this would make sense I think

The tombs of the Nazgul are in Rudaur, as stated by Galadriel in AUJ. That is in Arnor, which isn't that far from Bree. Radagast might only appear there in DOS. I've got my ticket booked for friday evening to see the movie, so all of these questions will soon have answers.

In DOS Radagast turns at the start of the bridge onto Dol Guldur to go warn lady Galadriel,

Radagast is only there for a short period, then Gandalf tells him to leave and tell Galadriel that their suspicions where right.

Ah, now it makes sense :sweet: Right, the location of the tombs is mentioned in AUJ, just forgot about that  This gives me hope for a Galadriel minifig though, now it's pretty clear she comes to assist Gandalf in TABA (hopefully with Elrond, Saruman, Radagast and Beorn at their side, that would be awesome  ). Can't wait to see the film

Reminders-

1. the 2014 set list DOES NOT belong in this thread. It belongs in the future/rumored set thread.

2. that list is almost certainly fake, so talk about it in the future thread with caution.

If that lot rock up to Dol Guldur, it would make for a great set. Tombs of the Nazgul in Rhudaur do sound creepy and atmospheric, but are a completely PJ creation - Sauron gave them the 9 rings and they became wraiths, so there was no burying in tombs or anywhere else required.

What about the Witch-King being buried under a load of rock? He did have a tomb really.
