Infernum Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Guess what I am about to say? ** This all FUTURE set discussion which belongs in the future LotR and future Hobbit threads. Good point, sorry. Should there be an LoTR and Hobbit 2014 thread now? Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I would put this in the 2014 discussion, but i can't seem to find one. Here is the piece count and prices for the sets, no set names yet: 79015 Set 1 – 101 pcs – $15 79016 Set 2 – 313 pcs – $30 79017 Set 3 – 471 pcs – $60 79018 Set 4 – xxx pcs – $130 Quote
ZCerberus Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 There is no 2014 set thread because we have seen the 2014 boxes in one photo and listed on one site, but we don't know much beyond that. I think we should stick this discussion in the FUTURE HOBBIT SET thread for now. When we have something more substantial like set names or the like, then we can make a 2014 set thread. Quote
azog15 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 This doesn't seem to be the same catalogue that others claim to have seen, this one lacks the box sizes (and prices) I'm wondering what that grey-ish structure on the upper half of the page is supposed to be, the person who took the pictures seems to have made sure that only the non-watermarked parts of the catalogue are visible so there might be something of interest there... ...yeah, it's probably just the logo or something Anyway, here's hoping for a reveal at the Toyfairs (the release date indicates so) even though we likely wouldn't get to see much as was the case with the movie-based Marvel/DC sets in the last two years @azog15: Why not? I would rather have a big Battle of Five Armies set than a Smaug set Quote
Kondor21 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I would rather have a big Battle of Five Armies set than a Smaug set Totally correct thats what ive been wanting this whole time! Quote

MrErikku Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Not at the moment. We'll see it soon. Is there for sure going to be one? I may have missed something, but it's kind of hard to tell what's true and what isn't with all the speculation. :/ Quote
deskp Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Is there for sure going to be one? I may have missed something, but it's kind of hard to tell what's true and what isn't with all the speculation. :/ No it's nto for sure going to be one, no official word on it. But all the lego games in recents years has, So it proapbly will be this time aswell. DC, marvel, lotr, lego city, potc, lego movie games all had it. Quote

Faefrost Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Game pre order bonuses are rarely all that obscure. They may be an obscure variant of a well known character, but they generally like a well known and recognizable character to help drive game sales. So a Mithril shirt Bilbo would be a likely option type of bonus. A Thrain or Thror not so much. Lego store and S@H sale bonus figs will get a little more unusual. Think of it this way. It's ultimately marketing drones who decide what is the promo item. The folks at DK are normally fairly familiar with the subjects they are putting books out for. So they will often go with more unusual figure choices. The Lego folks who decide the store giveaways are extremely familiar with the subjects, hence things like alt Hoth Han and Jor El. The folks doing the marketing bonuses for the stores like GameStop or Walmart not so much. So the character will almost always be a form of a character readily familiar to them. Hence Elrond, Iron Patriot and Lex Luthor etc. ideally in their eyes it will often be a character that appears on the game box cover. Quote
Seaber Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I'm guessing Shire Bilbo, we see him in the trailers and he looks great! Quote
General Magma Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) I'm guessing Shire Bilbo, we see him in the trailers and he looks great! Although I would prefer something like one of the named orcs or a dwarf such as Thrain, I wouldn't mind a Shire Bilbo. I also think that will be it, and it would nonetheless be cool to have a coatless version of the blue coat Bilbo. And if they do make that figure, I hope they will have at least one new facial expression for him. But preferably, another figure please.. Edited January 19, 2014 by General Magma Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I'm guessing Shire Bilbo, we see him in the trailers and he looks great! Isn't that the figure that already came with the Target exclusive AUJ DVD? Quote
deskp Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) I'm guessing Shire Bilbo, we see him in the trailers and he looks great! As mentioned, we already got that one with the dvd, btw we see that blue coated bilbo in the extended edition, not just the trailers. edit. unless you mean the one seen in the game trailer. thats jstu the one with got already without the jacket. I really hope we don't get that its super boring. Edited January 19, 2014 by deskp Quote
kevkipo Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Then my guess would be Battle of Moria Thorin, when he chops off Azog's hand in the trailer he wears different clothes im guessing that would be it, or like Seaber said Shire Bilbo But i will never get my hands on one because my game stores are boring and The Netherlands is just boring... please get me out of this land and Bring me to Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, somewhere deep in the forests of Oregon i dont care GET ME OUT OF HERE! Nehm... Quote

Artanis I Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Special limited edition polybags for this sort of thing will never have a unique part. So no Sauron. Recolours and new prints are common options. Blue-coated Bilbo for example. As Faefrost has mentioned, it will most likely be a character from the game that is reasonably well-known, but we don't have already. (An alternate print for Thorin or Bilbo etc.) But how about a white Azog? Galadriel (if she isn't in a set later)? The unfriendly dude from Lake Town? Lindor the elf? Okay, probably not him. Burnt-face Thranduil? 2nd age Elrond was only in the prologue of the LOTR game and intro for the 1st movie, perhaps Thror or Thrain are playable and can be made with an existing beard? So many possibilities. I mean, who expected the Spanish Inq Elrond? No one! Quote
