deskp Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Remember that the sets are based off the movies, and there were no rangers other than Aragorn in the movies, so we won't be seeing them. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Galadrial. Ehem! Theres the rangers of Ithilien wich deathleech did mention. Its the group that Faramir leads.. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh49/phoenix3279/Faramir-Ithilien.jpg Quote
djmangunz Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 So, that beautiful helmet your avatar is sporting Deskp, Brickforge, Arealight, or made yourself? Quote
deskp Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 @fives @djmangunz It's just a drawing Im afraid. My largely pieced together by various images and guesswork. It supposed to be a Mirkwood soldier. http://i45.tinypic.com/2v8quxu.png I can't wait for lego to make real versions of these soldiers. (lets hope they don't come with some horrible flaw) Quote
Faefrost Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Have we heard any substantiated reports on how the LotR and Hobbit lines have been selling? How they are in relation to say PotC or HP, which would be the closest licensed analogs? Quote
Deathleech Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Hopefully the sets will sell well over the next few years but the fact that the Goblin set is on sale everywhere makes me just a bit concerned. It seems everything was on sale over the holidays, even An Unexpected Gathering which has sold out at a ton of places. I wouldn't be too worried. I think the line sells well, it's just a question of how well.. will we only get 1-2 more waves, or half a dozen? Ehem! Theres the rangers of Ithilien wich deathleech did mention. Its the group that Faramir leads.. http://i253.photobuc...ir-Ithilien.jpg Yup, that's them! Really they wouldn't be hard to mod now, especially with the hood from the Mirkwood Elf polybag and Eomer's cape. You would just need a suitable brown torso and a face with a black mask over the mouth part (maybe we will get one in the Lone Ranger line...?). I would LOVE to see an Ithilien Ranger Ambush set that includes Faramir, 1-2 rangers, 2 Haradrim, the Haradrim chief, and an Oliphant and some trees for around 50-60 bucks. That might be a nice way to get two more types of soldiers, Faramir, the Haradrim Chief, and an Olphant all in one set! Quote
djmangunz Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 . My largely pieced together by various images and guesswork. It supposed to be a Mirkwood soldier. Drawing or not, it's still brilliant. Is it based on the Mikwood soldiers in the flashback at the beginning of the Hobbit movie? I would love to see a version of them and the Ironwood dwarfs in the future. Although it seems like the two flagship sets from the LOTR and the Hobbit, Helm's Deep and the Goblin set, both have spent a great deal of time on sale. Eh, who knows. And a Ranger Ambush would be fantastic! But I would think that the Olphant mold, if done on a bigger scale, would push the price up to about $80 to a $100, which I would be fine with if the set is a good size. Quote

Dark green and olive green would be other good options once available in larger quantities. And I agree, a set like that would be great. I don't know what kind of new stuff we could expect from the good guys in a Pelennor Fields version of an Oliphaunt set if the exclusive Witch-king set really proves to be true. Quote
Lordof theBricks Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 They can rake really a lot of sets about Pelennor fields, here is my thought about possible sets: 1.Witch king,Eowyn (armor) Merry (Armor) Theoden on white horse,Fell beast and catapult? Because there needs to be something for build in this set. 2.Mumakil (building tower on his back) Harad leader,2x Harad soldiers,Gamling and Rohirrim soldier on brown horses 3x Mordor orcs (armor, all different) And sets about Minas Tirith: 1.Big gates, and wall around the gates,Grond,2x Great beasts,2x Mountain Trolls,3x Gondorian soldiers,Gandalf the White,3x Mordor orcs (armor, all different) 2.Minas Tirith (battle pack) Wall who can continued on the gates,Pippin (Gondorian armor) mowing tower,Mountain troll,2x Gondorian soldiers,3x Mordor orcs (armor, all different) 3.Rest of Minas Tirith,Denethor,2x Citadel guards,Faramir wounded It will be great to get all of these sets in third wawe,to complete battle of Pelennor fields and Minas Tirith Quote

Wout Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Ignore this post if not relevant Moderators: Feel free to change this post. My local toyshop let me look in the catalogue 79005 Wizards Duel: seems to have Gandalf, Saruman, a base and the palantir, probably a good way to get Saruman. 79006 Council of Elrond: Has only 2 chairs, Elrond,Frodo, Gimli and a female elf (Arwen?), a little table with the ring and some walls. 79007 Battle of the black gate: Gandalf, Aragorn in Red clothes, 2 orks, Witchking Nazgul on Black Horse and Eagle (Gwaihir?), Also a black gate with one tower. 79008 Umbar Pirateship: Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Undead Dunharg King, 2 undead warriors, 2 orcs and unknown human captain? Quote
CMP Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Shame that it's Gimli in the Council of Elrond, but at least we get Gondor Aragorn. Are you sure it's the Witchking in the Black Gate, and not the Mouth of Sauron? In both the movies and the books, he was dead at that point, and the Nazgul horses had been dead since Fellowship of the Ring. Quote
Kez Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 *snip* 79007 Battle of the black gate: Gandalf, Aragorn in Red clothes, 2 orks, Witchking Nazgul on Black Horse and Eagle (Gwaihir?), Also a black gate with one tower. *snip* Thanks for the info I was right about it being the nazgul on the black horse, was the mouth of sauron featured in that set aswell? Although it seems like the two flagship sets from the LOTR and the Hobbit, Helm's Deep and the Goblin set, both have spent a great deal of time on sale. Eh, who knows. I can't escape the fear that those two sets were probably a tad to expensive for a general retail release. If nothing else Helms Deep probably would have been better off as a Lego exclusive. The positive side now is we can find fairly inexpensive sets. The downside is they may be more cautious about releasing such big sets going forward. Quote

Dude,he is on the box,but down at the box where are minifigs, there is Mouth of Sauron, and he will replace Nazgul. This is prewiew of the box,Look at Mines of moria set,and orewiew bx,there is white cave troll. It will not be Nazgul, trust me :) Quote

No you weren't. It literally makes zero sense for the Witch-king to be in that set, considering that he was dead before the Battle of the Black Gate even began. Fives Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 The Nazgul is a PLACE HOLDER fig on the box art. The figs in the minifig line ups on the prelims are the FINISHED VERSIONS. This was the same for the first LOTR wave. Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I'm pretty sure the line is selling well. Yesterday, my local LEGO store was sold out of ALL THE LOTR/HOBBIT SETS. Not a single one was left on the shelf. Quote

Not a single one was left on the shelf. Hard to tell. My local supermarket had a 40% sale in August and the LOTR sets were the las ones to be wiped out of the shelves. Also american Amazon set all Hobbit sets 25% off right after the release. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Is there any way we could get some "official" word as to how the theme is selling? It would definitely ease a lot of our concerns... Quote

Thanks, I know that the nazgul will not be in the set, I'm just winding you up LOL (hence the reason of my avatar the joker), also I know that the pictures are only concept and have not been officially made into a lego box yet The only reason for the nazgul on the black gate prelim pic is because simply it's a preliminary picture and it should be the mouth of sauron on the horse and not a nazgul. Delta 38 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 We could always get a set with a Fel Beast in Minas Tirith where the Witch King faces Gandalf the White and breaks his staff. Not as good as versus Eowyn since we already are getting Gandalf the White, but another possible option nonetheless. Oops, I think I might have made a mistake. Are the Battle of Pelennor Fields and Minas Tirith considered as being one event? But anyway, Osgiliath might also be a possibility for another Fell Beast (though with a standard Ringwraith rather than the Witch-king). I guess a catapult or something could be combined so the Eowyn and the Witch-king set could be possible. But then, what does that leave for the Oliphaunt? I just don't think that the Pelennor Fields segment of the battle has enough background things to build without repeating generic things like catapults to fill up space. I'm changing my mind too much about this. I think I'll just back away from the topic now. Quote

Well, we could get some combination with the overnight orc siege of Minas Tirith, so an Oliphaunt with brick-built stuff on top plus a big siege tower, and any number & variation of minifigs. Quote
