Lordof theBricks Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) It would be nice with a special hair for Elrond, but it wouldn't really work for any other minifigure. Could that not be an early orc forge? Not the one we already have, this one is different Edited January 5, 2013 by Lordof theBricks Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I've seen that photo before many times, but when was the initial surfacing of it? In the background it shows the Kingdoms Joust, has that always been there? I guess I never paid much attention to it because it wouldn't zoom in very much, but this newest link showed much more zoom, so I could see things a lot easier. Either way, if they are preliminary or fun MOCs from Master Builders, it's nice to speculate. Quote
just2good Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Not the one we already have, this one is different That is definitely a preliminary Orc Forge set: Quote
Mahtion Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I thought that was an orc forge as well. As exciting as extra machinery for Orthanc would be, it would just increase the price point. Can anyone guess any other sets from the pics? What's between the prelim Orc forge and Lothlorien? Also what could be the sets below bag end? The one looks mines of Moria but what's beneath that? If Elrond get's no circlet I will MOC one using Arwen's hair. :/ Quote
General Magma Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) I hope TLG will give Azog a headpiece for his ears if they do make a figure of him, because otherwise they might as well start a God of War theme and use the same figure for Kratos. I made red circle around machines.I believe that it is machine Hmm, looks like the Goblin King set to me, and although it isn't a completely accurate fit, the crane-like thing is there even if it doesn't have the gaps or white/grey colors around: And otherwise, it could be some of the Isengard machines, indeed. Delta 38 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) It would be nice with a special hair for Elrond, but it wouldn't really work for any other minifigure. That's kind of the point, I think. Many Elves have a similar hairstyle with two strands of long hair that come out down the front, and we've already had Legolas and Haldir with more generic-looking hair mould that excludes those strands. If a new piece was created (without a crown) and it was used for characters aside from Elrond, all the other Elves would need their hair replaced. I think Elrond's crown would probably work more effectively as printing, rather than moulded with the hair. But then again, the promotional Elrond figure has that generic-looking hair too, so I'm guessing we will have a new hairpiece with the crown as part of it (yay!). Looking at the two variations of Elrond in the video game, it seems the hair is used to differentiate Second and Third Age Elrond. Still not entirely accurate, but Elrond didn't have a crown in the Last Alliance scenes so there's an obvious reason as to why a second crownless version wasn't made. On a similar note, if we eventually get a Galadriel figure I'm hoping there's a way her crown could be included. It was absent in the game and kind of bothered me, though I can't really see a way it could be added. Edited January 5, 2013 by Delta 38 Quote

Some elves have their hair over their ear and some under the ears, also in action scenes most of the hair flows to the back. I'm all for unique hair, but i dont think a new generic one would replace the current one at all. I think the female elves should get their own new mold with hair over the ears down in front. Quote

CMP Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) This has a very good chance of being my first UCS set, if that's the case. If it is UCS/exclusive. It's seemingly separate from the main wave, so I would assume so. Edited January 5, 2013 by CallMePie Quote

It's seemingly separate from the main wave, so I would assume so. From the looks of it its apperas to be be more of a d2c or just a large "hard to find" set. Im not famililar with previous UCS sets but I think the accuracy of this build will be more normal set-looking than lego buildt miniature/model. It could be that this is one of those sets thats released a month or 2 before or after the main release of the wave (black pearl) Quote
Faefrost Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I just wanted to remind everyone. Not everything we see in that room picture has or ever will make it into production. (How many of you will be lining up for a full life sized bust of Watto?). Some of what is on the shelves there is simply experimental sketch models. That one set may be the bridge and scribes chair from Goblin King, It may be an early Orc Forge. It may be a siege set or an early version of the Uruk Hai Attack set. Unless someone pulls it out in a Designer Video some day we will probably never know. Quote

Delta 38 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) I can confirm that 10237 The Tower of Orthanc is a real set! Price and availability is unknown to me. Oh no, oh no! So much for my pessimism. I hope we'll still see Orthanc in smaller scale in the future or I'll have to miss out on it entirely. Some elves have their hair over their ear and some under the ears, also in action scenes most of the hair flows to the back. I'm all for unique hair, but i dont think a new generic one would replace the current one at all. I think the female elves should get their own new mold with hair over the ears down in front. Yeah, that's what I meant. It seems female Elves (or at least Arwen and Galadriel) have slightly wavy hair, so that could be possible for non-specific characters. I can't really see Elrond's hair being used elsewhere though. Edited January 5, 2013 by Delta 38 Quote

Fives Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Fantastic news GRogall! I forget, but in the past you've never had the official pictures of the sets until after the NY Toy Fair. It's a shame we have to wait for about a month and a half till we get our first good pics of the finished sets. Will Orthanc be at the Toy Fair? Being an exclusive set, I'm worried it won't be there. I never have bought a UCS set, but I will probably buy this one. Exciting, but expensive, year for Lego :) I got to start making some big bucks to supply this year's LEGO purchases! Quote
