Lordof theBricks Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Thx for the pictures, seemed clearer than others I have seen. Seems my analysis a couple of pages back seems legit. A bit off-topic but are you Dutch, you have a similar accent to English-speaking dutchmen. I am actually Croatian :) Quote
Lordof theBricks Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Why they removed Lotr 2013 pictures from Flickr? Quote

General Magma Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Is it just me or do those orcs really look like they've got new helmets? At least, they seem larger than the fantasy era orc helmets (both the rounded and the 'shadow knight' variant), and both helmets seem a slight bit different. I hope TLG really decided to come up with some variety for orcs. Quote

I hope TLG really decided to come up with some variety for orcs. I really hope they make some lotr orc helmets, currently the orcs have extremely little variation. From the picture it could just as easily be that hair/ear piece again though. Well it kindof seem like the left side orc has the hairpiece and the right side orc has a helmet, on both the gate and the ship minifig index. What I wanna know is, do they wera an armor piece? a new armor piece? or are they just printed on the torso? Quote
Lordof theBricks Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 They shuld have no armor piece, but armor printings like this Quote
deskp Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 They shuld have no armor piece, but armor printings like this http://www.flickr.co...N03/8315223016/ That printing isn't really accurate enough. A new armor piece would be much better than a reused printing. Also they would still be printed even if they had a new armor. Quote

Fives Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 (edited) I'm with LordofBricks on this armour discussion. Of the four major factions (Isengard, Gondor, Rohan, Mordor) only Uruks of Isengard and soldiers of Gondor should need a full armour piece. Mordor orcs and Rohirrim don't have heavy enough armour to warrant a full chest plate. Maybe for some of the higher ranking Mordor orcs (mainly Gothmog) an armour piece would look good and make him stand out among the ranks, but overall, Orcs don't seem to have armour as heavy as Uruks. That being said, if LEGO decided to maker a new armour piece with nice printing, I wouldn't complain. Edited January 7, 2013 by Fives Quote
rpmac91 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 If the orcs are going to have an actual armor piece, they would have to make a new mold, which i'm not sure if they will or not. I don't think a regular breastplate would work. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Armor or not, I think we definitely need some new variations of Orc minifigs. Even the current "Mordor orc" minifigs don't look too accurate to me. Quote
Faefrost Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 If nothing else Black Bricks are gonna be cheap and plentiful on Bricklink this year. Quote

I don't think a regular breastplate would work. I was disappointed Lego used regular breastplates on the Uruks. The helmets, heads, shields, torsos, and swords are awesome. With new breastplates would have been perfect. I agree that Mordor orcs should get new breastplates, not just printing. Moria orcs were lightly armored, as were the orcs in the Hobbit. So far the orcs released are just fine, but as they release sets from the Moria armies I would like to see new helmets, breastplates, shields as well as some new heads... Quote

I remember there was an extra Orc with another torso in the early Orc Forge images; I was kind of disappointed TLG didnt include the alternate torso for one of the two Orcs in that set. Quote
Fives Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Well, for now, variety in my Mordor/Northern orc army is absolutely zero. Just bought 16 Orc keychains, which puts me at a nice 20 orcs (not including three Goblins, two Moria orcs, and Yazneg). All I need is some pliers to get the stupid chains off the figs. Quote

Recommend pliers to remove the chain and some snipes to remove the base at the top of head. The head slips off and you can cut more of the post through the neck. Quote

Saves the sacrilege of cutting through ABS... Quote

Lordof theBricks Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 What colour would they be? They shuld be same colour as the Frodo and Sam has in Shelob attack set, because there are capes of Lothlorien, only they shuld be longer Quote
Fives Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 They shuld be same colour as the Frodo and Sam has in Shelob attack set, because there are capes of Lothlorien, only they shuld be longer Those would be identical to Gandalf's cape. I've actually tried it, and to me it doesn't look that good. Legolas is good with dark green, Aragorn with brown, Gimli with dark blue, and Boromir with dark red. Quote
