Those would be identical to Gandalf's cape. I've actually tried it, and to me it doesn't look that good. Legolas is good with dark green, Aragorn with brown, Gimli with dark blue, and Boromir with dark red.

Yea,but afteh they were in Lothlorien, they all god these capes

technically the capes are grey but I'd think lego should make them like they did with Merry and Pippin. You'd imagine they chouse that color for both of their capes to represent the elven cape seeing as its hugely inaccurate for their pre-elven capes.

What would be than on the back? :)

That's what it shows on the picture...

Or, if you meant what back printing it would have when it uses that - perhaps just something similar on the back.

Though I can't see TLG taking another fig's back printing for a regular print on a figure, it would still be a good idea. Had it in mind as well, but Moria orcs aren't that cheap..

The bulk of their armor is as thick or thicker than the gondorian armor, I want a new armor piece for the mordor orcs.

The problem with this is regardless of how thick the armour is, Orcs have jagged, multi-layered chestplates that might not translate well into one single piece. Gondorian armour is more conventional as the chestplate is already one piece.

To be fair, Uruk-hai armour is also made of multiple smaller plates, though they're meant to look kind of bulky anyway.

I don't really think the Mordor Orcs need chestplates, and definitely not a new piece. Some of the orcs in the videogame have breastplates which I think would look good, if LEGO did decide to give them some. I definitely wouldn't want them to re-use the Moria torso for Mordor Orcs though, that would mess with me, personally. I'm already a tiny bit annoyed that the "The Hobbit" Hunter Orcs aren't green (being from the Misty Mountains, like the Moria Orcs). I'm not sure why they are brown like Mordor Orcs from LOTR, but who knows? I guess they are a bit different to Moria orcs in the movie... but it just doesn't make sense to me.

I loved your great (and hilarious) observations before, Faefrost - I am sure there is some truth in them, haha

The news about the exclusive Orthanc set is great! I was truly expecting an Orthanc to be the flagship of this next wave, and was a bit disappointed that they'd reduced the potential to "The Wizard Battle" in its place. But, if there is anyway to do a good Orthanc, it is as an Exclusive. (I hadn't considered it, as Exclusives are rare as it is, and most themes don't have them so early on. Perhaps the recent Haunted House and this news means that LEGO might be more willing to throw more Exclusives at us earlier on? I frankly think that this is an indication of the theme's success - I just hope that LEGO seizes its opportunity and does the best it can do for the license.)

:classic::wink:

They're Gundabad orcs.

Here are my designs of armored Mordor orcs how they shuld look in the future Lotr sets.

Your thoughts?

http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream

1. will work very well prefferably in dark gray

3. I'm not a fan, the star wars headger thing looks abit odd

5. yes in dark gray or similar this should work very well, it looks similar to what alot of the orcs wear at pelennor

7.it might be the color or soemthing, but i think this helmet looks abit too futuristic, and I can't hgelp but think of Juggernaut from x-men.

9. Yes! this is fantastic, Thorins hair piece makes the orc looks super-similar to that one uruk you see alot of during this battle. http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120622231910/lotr/images/b/b8/Gothmog1.jpeg

10. This helmet looks abit too proper and clean for the orcs in my taste.

Lastly don't forget about the goblin's bald cap, it works great on orcs and adds more variety!

I know that helmets are not the best.Lego probably will make 1-2 new helmet designes for orcs

Kindof tried out some mroe helmets and headgear. Legos new helmet(lets hope) should be the highlight, but veriety certainly would make any army/moc look better. 2 new helmets from lego would be fantastic but I'd be really suprised if they did that.

That evil knight helm looks like it works really well on orcs. I wonder if some of the other CMF helms would do well if re colored? The Spartan, Roman or gladiator?

In my opinion they look too specific to fit orcs. And I dont see many roman/greek influences in the orc designs in LOTR.

Edit, the roman helmet could work, but i wouldnt wnana see it in any official lego set. the chin guard side things looks properly orcish.

They're Gundabad orcs.

Ah,ok. At least now they have a name (I didn't know). I still wonder why they are brown like Mordor Orcs though. But it doesn't matter, thanks for that!:laugh:

The orcs they battle at moria in the hobbit will be taken care of soon enough. The green goblins we see in Moria in Lord of the Rings arrives a while after that.

I'm guessing that we will not see a substantially new Orc helmet until hey make a set of Frodo and Sam sneaking across Mordor. (Sing it with me "Where there's a Whip there's a way...") which probably means quite awhile. How long was it before we started some of the really cool and distinctive head pieces over in Star Wars?

We will probably see some orc helmets desing in Pirate ship ambush and in The Battle at the Black Gate set.Probably 2 orcs in Pirate ship ambush will have helmets but different, and one will have hair piece or maybe one orc will be Guritz, and in The Battle at the Black gate set one will have hair piece and one orc helmet (one of the helmets from Pirate ship ambush. That's my thoughts

Guys, here are some my Mordor and Morgul orcs desings from LEGO Lotr gallery

Those are pretty good designs.

And on another note, I'm reading the Fellowship and the chapters are incredibly long.

It isn't the easiest of reading for many people but trust me, the Silmarillion is much heavier. If new line ever got the rights to that we would get some amazing sets i think. Would suit a cartoon series in the vein of Clone Wars more than a film though.

The Silmarillion is my favorite Tolkien book, much better due to the tragedy and self inflicted downfall of the Noldor and the epic scale of the conflicts. It also captures more of the mythology and fairy tale tone of pre-Christianized European pagan sagas like the Kalevala and the Norse epics.
