Ardelon Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) What I imagine an Osgiliath set could be. Potentially I would add another level to the tower bit, and make the dome a shade of blue. 251 pieces. 2 proper orcs, 1 ranger, 1 gondorian soldiers and Faramir Nice! The only thing I would do is add a small bridge, Frodo, and a Nazgûl on a Fellbeast. I think it is possible that LotR sets could be based off of multiple movies, kind of like the 2010 HP sets. I like this version too, deskp, but I agree wih Mr_Malfoy that a Nazgul with fell beast should be included, if the beast would be molded - its one of the few options for a set with a molded fell beast and a substantial construction component. Darth Caedus Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Osgiliath is best suited to a battlepack, not a large set, because its terrain is random and not memorable. Options: "Star Wars Style" $12.99-14.99: Gondorian Warrior, Gondorian Archer, Orc Archer, Orc Soldier, Ruined Archway "Helm's Deep Style" $29.99: Faramir, 2x Gondorian Warrior, Gondorian Ranger, Orc Archer, Orc Soldier, Ruined Archway/rubble & Landing Craft Quote
deskp Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) An osgiliath set with fell beast would mean no armored witch king, and yet another Frodo and possible another Sam. Besides if you take alot at a other lisenced sets the brick to minifig ratio isnt that high. I think the reason there is not more minifigures in big sets are cause lego designs it that way. And it would make the sets more expensive. Osgiliath is best suited to a battlepack, not a large set, because its terrain is random and not memorable. Options: "Helm's Deep Style" $29.99: Faramir, 2x Gondorian Warrior, Gondorian Ranger, Orc Archer, Orc Soldier, Ruined Archway/rubble & Landing Craft This is basically what I made/suggested, like "Uruk hai army" it has 5 minifigures and 250-some pieces. General Magma Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 If the rumored Witch-king set that's supposed to come out this March is real, there would be no need for another Fell Beast anywhere else. Just stick to an Osgiliath set with orcs, Faramir, Gondorians and an Ithilien ranger. (Hopefully we'll see Madril as well) - That way, we can still have a set with a Fell beast, the Witch-king, armored Merry and Éowyn, along with perhaps a wounded Théoden. Quote
deskp Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 If the rumored Witch-king set that's supposed to come out this March is real Where does this rumor come from? The way I see it, its a set thats been expected and wanted by alot of people, so it has just become a thing. But to be honest I never really heard any talk of this as being a real set from lego ever. Obviously it's something I want aswell! Quote

Yeah, the rumor might as well have meant nothing those pages back, not sure where it showed up first, but it was rumored as an exclusive set. I hope it's real, though, this wave severely lacks a Witch-king figure. Quote
Lordof theBricks Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Osgiliath set can be made in soo many ways.Like in The Two towers, maybe some ruins,2x Gondorian soldiers,Faramir,2x Rangers, from Return of the king, there can be even 2 sets, and 1 battle pack: 1st set-some ruins from scene when they escape from Osgiliath,we shuld get: Gothmog,1 orc,2x Rangers on horses and Gondorian soldier,Madril, also Nazgul on Fell beast, because Gandalf came and save them from Nazguls second set-when Faramir and Gondorians want to return Osgiliath-3x Orc archers, some ruins,Faramir in Gondorian armor on horse,2x Gondorian soldiers, one ranger (all on horses) And battle pack with some walls,boat,1 Ranger,2x Gondorian soldiers,3x orcs There is so many ways for Osgiliath Quote
General Magma Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) There is so many ways for Osgiliath And not more than once will we see it. An Osgiliath set? Yes. A battlepack along with it? Not gonna happen. Osgiliath is not significant enough for multiple sets, and one set is enough to have it covered. The set itself could serve as much of a battlepack like Uruk army, though. Faramir, Gondorian soldier, Ranger of Ithilien and 2 orcs, perhaps Madril, along with a build like deskp's. Edited January 12, 2013 by General Magma Quote

Sigolf Brimabane Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Are there more people than me who would rather have a brick built fell beast? I don't really like the big moulds, although the Cave Troll was nice, and Olog-Hai are the perfect size for moulds, but I imagine a big fell beast to be like the big moulded dinosaurs of yore. :S If anyone remembers the dragon from the Viking theme, that's more like it in my opinion. :) The fantasy era dragon was not very nice, looked too childish (it was aimed for kids, I know). The 2012 dinosaurs molds looks nice. thought the Viking theme's creatures looked like a horrible mix of normal lego, bionicle and those sorts of figures. Made them look like some bad robot creatures. Infernum Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I would like to see a molded fel beast. It needs a sleek look, that can't be done very well with bricks. Plus, it's molded in the video game, so that seems likely. Quote
jhc2nmfn Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I don't care whether a fell beast (if we even get one) is molded or brickbuilt. Its hard to think of a set with enough brick built parts to put a nazgul in besides osgiliath though. I still can't think of anything brickbuilt that's large enough to include with the witchking and "molded" nazgul vs Eowen I don't care whether the fell beast (if we even get one) is molded or brickbuilt. It just seems that a set like this has too many wanted minifigs and beasts and not enough bricks unless they make the nazgul brickbuilt. I find it hard to believe were even going to get one with this wave though seeing as we have pictures of four confirmed sets do out in june (i think thats what the page said) and a confirmation (I believe) on a D2C orthanc set. I think its pretty wishful tginking that there's another set still even if it is exclusive. I also cant even find where exactly the rumor originated from because the last post I could find about it just showed a custom MOC lego art box using the lego emblem which could have confused people but who knows. Im not saying I wouldn't buy the set immediately I just haven't been able to find a legit source for the rumor. The other rumors I've found were for a treebeard encounter set and balrog set that were posted on a youtube video but that doesn't actually post a source either so who knows. Quote
DarthPotato Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 If we are even getting a fell beast this wave (I'm sort of doubting it) I think I'd like it to be molded more. Like others have said it needs to look sleek and there's been plenty of situations where molded creatures look better than they could have if they were brick built. Quote
Vindice Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I think we will see one exclusive set but that could be one of a number of possibilities. I don't think we'll see a brick built fell beast, construction would be flimsy and therefore not satisfy playability levels. Quote
wesker Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 My suggestion would be to include the ruined tower in Osligiliath that the fell beast was perched upon earlier on in ROTK when the Witch-King ordered Gothmog to attack Minas Tirith. I was thinking something along the lines of this set, with the fell beast in place of the giant wheel. Quote
Wolvarie Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Mentioned this last year that it wouldn't take much to change the brown dragon from Harry Potter into a Fell Beast. Hope we do see one at some stage. All for Gondorian Soldiers, Rangers etc. But would like to see some more Rohirrim first. Quote
Zilcho Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I really don't think we'll get a fell beast this wave. We have had 1 moulded creature in each of the past waves and they were both in £70 - £80 price range. I could imagine next theme being very Gondor and having Osgiliath for £70 with a fell beast as that waves mould and then having Minas Tirith as the >£100 set, and additions for Minas Tirith at 50 and 40 pounds. Of course we will get something for building,if we get Fell beast in Pelennor Fields scene,we will probably get one Mowing tower or catapult for building,if we het it in Osgiliath set,we will get also some ruin towers for building.I don't see the problem about that Here is molded Fell beast, looks really great to me Quote

For my thought Minas Tirith shuld be exclusive set,if is Orthanc exclusive,Minas Tirith definitely shuld be,or we get separately Gates and wall with moving tower battle pack. About that I mean: First set-Gates of Minas Tirith,Grond,2x Great beasts,Troll,Gothmog,2x Mordor orcs armores,Gandalf the White on Shadowfax,3x Gondorian soldiers Wall of Minas tirith (who can continue on the gates): Moving Tower,Troll,3x Mordor orcs,2x Gondorian soldiers,Pippin in Gondorian armor Rest of Minas Tirith: The top of Minas Tirith,White tree,citadel,2x citaled guards,Denethor,Faramir,it will be the highest part of Minas tirith, and part where Denethor falls Or we shell get it all at once as Exclusive set,but Minas Tirith doesn't deserve to be just regullar set of 130$ like Helm's deep, just imagine how small it will be than Edited January 13, 2013 by Lordof theBricks Quote
Slobey Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I have my doubts we will get a Minas Tirith at all. I think a Lego produced set wont be able to do it justice... Gates perhaps or a section of wall but I don't think there will be a complete set Quote
