thecolossus Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 The white bat winged ghost The bat wing is part of the ship, there's one on the other side if you look carefully. Quote
deskp Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 They all look amazing! Too bad Arwen has a dress piece though. Now she can't ride her horse!! If you want her on a horse just give her some plain legs, it's not like leg printing is visible while on horses. Quote
Slobey Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I like the shields on the corsair boat. If I get 2 of this set like I plan that should net 16 generic shields! Quote
General Magma Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Those figures look fantastic. I'm glad they made two new hairpieces for the Elves. Looks like Frodo might have new face prints - the figure doesn't seem to have his Shire head nor his other head. Same for Gandalf the Grey. The orcs are still disappointing, though - an Uruk-hai helmet? Oh well... the other figures are great. Edited January 26, 2013 by General Magma Quote
Haltiamieli Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I'm glad they made two new hairpieces for the Elves. Two? Are you referring to the old one and the new? 'Cause I'm quite sure Elrond and Arwen have the same hairpiece, even if it looks a bit different in the picture - partly because Arwen is shrunk into same heigth as her father despite her using the taller slope piece. Elrond has that tiara thing on his head, whereas Arwen doesn't. Arwen's hair also seems a bit thicker, which is especially visible on the torso, while Elrond really seems to have those thinner 'braids' as seen in the film. Seems like that to me, not completely sure, but Elrond does at least have that crown of his. Edited January 26, 2013 by General Magma Quote
diskus Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Those just look like the placeholders. The white bat winged ghost is suppose to represent a normal undead soldier I imagine, while the grayish one with the golden crown is the king. I am not sure why the orc is a Moria Orc and not a Mordor one though.. unless that's suppose to be a placeholder for the Corsair? Seems like a placeholder for the Mordor Orc. On the left side is another Moria Orc with an bow. Maybe the Corsair is somewhere on the ship? In a small cabin? At $150 I would hope more like 12-13 minifigures, but that's getting up there so who knows. [...] It's a fairly thin tower and they might only do the outside so $150 seems plausible. Since it's such a small wave I wouldn't mind it being a larger set, but I am really hoping they do Minas tirth as a ~$200 set later on still and do that beatiful city justice. I also hope we get some Ents with Orthanc... 150$ sounds very good for everyones finances. But I doubt that there will be so much minifigures. In fact it will be a set that remodels the outside (the main scenes can be played without inner structure, only for the wizard battle you have to buy a cheap set) but you need many bricks. Take Attack of the wargs. It's 19cm high and you need 400 bricks for the whole set (I did'nt count how many bricks are for the rock and the catapult). More bricks, the higher the price. The Millenium falcon (7965) has 1254 bricks and 6 minifigures for 150€ (round about 200$). My prophecy is: For the price of 150$ we get 6 minifigures - Saruman, Wormtongue, Merry and Pippin, two orcs, maybe two Ents (brickbuild) and a tower build with 1000 bricks. - And this sounds like the rumor of the set "The betrayal of Isengard" Quote
deskp Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Saruman would look better if his mustache was grey aswell. The videogame had it right, but the minifig image doesen't http://images.wikia....Saruman_mad.png movie: http://mrdaps.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/saruman.jpg Edited January 26, 2013 by deskp Quote
General Magma Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) For those looking for a bit more variation on the official orcs: try using the back print of the torso for the front rather than vice versa. Could use some pieces to cover up the original front printing, but otherwise, I think it would work well for an alternative torso print on those orcs. Edited January 26, 2013 by General Magma Quote
just2good Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Loving Arwen, Elrond, Saruman, and Sauron. Quote
Infernum Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Whoa! Those figs are fantastic! I especially love Arwen and Elrond! ! Love the oath breakers! The Mouth is of course fantastic! ! Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 The hairpieces for Elrond and Arwen are definitely different. If you can't see it, look closer. Elrond's is a little wider at the top, and the two pieces of hair don't "flow" over the shoulders as much as Arwen's does. They look different to me. Quote
Teh Stud Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Yeah, Mouth of Sauron is amazing, and I love the new elf hairpieces. I'm crossing my fingers the orcs are bald because they are getting new hairpieces, but I doubt it. Maybe it came down to a decision between new elf versus new Orc hair? Hopefully we will see new Orc hairpieces in December with the second wave of hobbit sets. Quote

Can't even imagine new hairpieces for orcs since TLG is even re-using the same prints all the time, and they already have a hairpiece for orcs. Edited January 26, 2013 by General Magma Quote

Isn't the 2 we got enough? 1 bald, 1 with hair, unless they make "hero" orcs I don't see a need for any more. Edited January 26, 2013 by deskp Quote
Teh Stud Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Ok, maybe not a new Orc hairpiece but armor and helmets. If you look at the early star wars sets, the figures today are way ore detailed. If the line lasts long enough, I think we will get our Orc variety. Quote

Haltiamieli Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 The cape on Elrond makes it seem less flowy cause it covers up the back part that shows on Arwen. Yeah, that's what I think too. And the faked scale does help in creating the illusion of difference. Quote
General Magma Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Well, I still hope Elrond's crown/tiara isn't just a print. Quote
deskp Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Zooming in all the way however makes it seem like the part of the diadem thats sticks into his forehead is a 3d thing thats not just a print. Either way the hair hanging down does not appear to have the "knots" it does in the game. Wich if it is a new hair with diadem would be more usefull for Galadriel. all the 10 new minifigures appears more or less exactly as they did in the game, so if physical Elrond were to have a purely printed crown, wouldn't that be the case in the game aswell? maybe for scale reasons they 'molded' in game it to look better on a big screen... We MIGHT have a real answer in a week, with the german toy fair (30th feb) Edited January 26, 2013 by deskp Quote

jhc2nmfn Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I think it was asked earlier but what is the 'bright plain figure' next to the wing and to the left of gimili on the ship? Im assuming its an unread soldier but it appears to be glowing? Is that showing that they have glow in the dark plastic? Whether they do or don't im loving this line. Elrond is a perfect counter to the gamestop version, arwen is just a must have, I can't believe how gruesome mouth of sauron looks, its amazing, and the corsair and unread are awesome. We can't have new prints for everything and im extremely happy with the new ones we got. I dont think having more orcs is as important as the new prints were getting and wouldn't trade a new orc for any of then. Quote

Yes it's an undead soldier, the glow is propably just to make the boxart look nicer and getting the point actross they are "ghosts" Quote
General Magma Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) I'm placing my bets on Arwen and Elrond having two different hairpieces. Just look at this, and look closely: Elrond's hair goes directly over the top left and top right parts of his torso, and seems thinner. There's actually more space in between, while Arwen's hair is a little bit more curved and leaves less of the torso visible. Edited January 26, 2013 by General Magma Quote
