deskp Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I'm placing my bets on Arwen and Elrond having two different hairpieces. Yeah, its starting to look that way. Anyways, why does Arwens chest look white? Quote
General Magma Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Yeah, its starting to look that way. Anyways, why does Arwens chest look white? Flesh on torso prints always seems to be different from flesh on heads, though I do wonder why. It's either slightly darker or slightly lighter. Also, another thing that might point at two new hairpieces, Arwen's hair is visibly thicker than Elrond's hair from the sides, even when zoomed out I tried to measure it a little bit (using a 1x2 tile), and it seems that Arwen's hair is even a slight bit thicker in that picture. Brickity Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Yes Elrond and Arwen clearly have different hairpieces. Arwen's is more voluminous at the sides while Elrond's more flat. Quote
Fives Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Yeah, its starting to look that way. Anyways, why does Arwens chest look white? It looks like that is her skin, but from the lighting of the photo it appears white. It will likely be fleshie. Overall, these figs are amazing! Sure, there are a few figs that are old news (Gandalf the Grey, Frodo, the Three Hunters), and the orcs are a major opportunity wasted, but the new figs easily make up for this. Elrond's hair will likely be a completely unique mold, with the tiara molded into the piece. It would look plain stupid if it were printed. The Mouth of Sauron looks fantastic, and I'm interested in seeing what his entire face print looks like. I wonder if 1) he'll have alternate mouths (one open, one closed), and 2) if they'll have any sort of eyes underneath. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I think the Mouth of Sauron minifigure takes the prize as the best minifigure of the theme so far. Absolutely stunning! Quote

IF the video game is anything to go by, he dosen't have eyes but some lumpy and wrinkly skin. in the back of the head hes got similar thin gray printed hair to the orcs. Mahtion Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Thank you Lego for giving Arwen and Elrond different hair sculpts which they rightly deserve. Now we just need to see a new Thranduil sculpt because no way does his hair or twig crown resemble anything yet made. If Lego does this I will be happy. Sorry to everyone looking for new orcs but give me the Elves! Of course my elves need enemies so eventually I hope with the rest of you that Lego will give the orcs at least new prints. If not we may have to start getting creative and use prints outside the license. Quote

If not we may have to start getting creative and use prints outside the license. I have an army of 50 orcs and 2 of them are official, but I still really wanted new prints on orcs. It was a missed opportunity, because there don't seem to be enough heads for such large amounts of variety. I've got way too many green fantasy era heads that should only be used on a few orcs, but many other heads too, yet it still doesn't seem to be enough for an army of such variety. deskp Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Thranduil is my most wanted minifig of 2013. *crosses fingers* (Also hope we get a "new" Tauriel with Arwens hair mold, if we get more Tauriel figs and they keep using the current hair i'll be dissapointed since the Arwen hair fits her so much better) Quote

I believe we will get a Thranduil, he has to be quite important to the second movie. Can't wait to see what Lego does for his silver metallic printing and tall golden crown. Also we better see some Mirkwood guards in more heavy leather armor maybe in the Throne room. Tauriel needs female elf hair of course. There should be an easy way to distinguish their gender aside from their printed faces. Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Far as I can tell Elrond's legs and torso +print Looks just like it does in the game. Dark red with brown boots. http://images.vg247....the-Council.jpg Yeah, the print seems the same though the colour's different, which is what I was referring to (compare it to the other shades of brown in the image, it seems to be the lightest). It's closer to his robe's actual colour (see here) than the dark red colour in the game. Quote
Mahtion Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Delta your image of Elrond is from the Hobbit not from Fellowship of the Ring council of Elrond scene. Quote

LOTR elrond: http://www.very-faer...ond_Council.jpg The minifigure we get looks exactly the same as in the game every print and every color. ONLY the cape's color is different from game. EDIT: Here is your game/minifig - movie comparison http://images.vg247....the-Council.jpg http://www.very-faer...d_Council_2.jpg hint: compare Elrond's red torso to Frodos red waistcoat and you'll see that its the same color. standard lego dark red. I do think that the minifgures in the council of Elrond make it worth buying. It's good to get at least Gimli in a slightly cheaper set although I don't see why he was there. An old Bilbo or Boromir (who probably won't appear again unless they make Amon Hen) would make more sense although I can imagine Gimli was put in so more people would want to buy the set. Quote

Slobey Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I'm not really fussed that the orc printing is the same, I'd prefer more effort and money to go into new figs like the Mouth of Sauron, Arwen etc. I don't know what all the fuss is about anyway with the 4 mordor orcs and 3 goblins I had handy by changing a few pieces around you get 7 unique figs: IMG_0556 by slobey79, on Flickr and thats without moving heads around or adding helmets such us: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60751 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48493 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x43 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=98128 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=89918 It's what Lego is all about people.....improvisation and experimentation It's no fun if Lego do all the work for you Quote

Leo604 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I don't know if it's just me, but can anyone tell if that's a new sword mold for Anduril in Aragorn's hand in the Corsair picture, or if it's just a darker/Nazgul-like version of the sword he's normally had? Quote

It's the same sword. Remember that's a preliminary picture of the boat though. So we can hope. Quote
Teh Stud Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I'm hoping the prelim pics don't have the new Mordor armor in them yet... Quote
giantevilrobot7777777 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) I hope the reason we don't have new orc desings is because we haven't had any sets where the orcs are the main bad guys (except the warg attack). It's still a not a good reason but if you think about it the cheapest set with orcs is £40, the Orc forge which first set with orcs only came with two, so I think we will get new orcs when we get cheaper sets focused more around the orcs. I'm not too sure if the goblin king battle counts as orc focused set because those are goblins and the set is quite expensive so not everybody will get some goblins. Still not good enough explanation for some of the more expensive sets where you would expect there to be better minifigs (most of the time). Edited January 27, 2013 by giantevilrobot7777777 Quote
