January 4, 201312 yr Why don't the soldiers have on pants? They were invading a foreign land, drank the water, got dysentery and didn't want to soil their pants as they invaded.

January 4, 201312 yr The price point argument makes sense when you look at Chima -all the sets are $15-20 or $35-40 except for one $80 set. I have also thought that LoTR has not been selling well both from what I've heard from store staff as well as how the sets are almost always in stock in huge numbers. It also makes sense that TLG would aim this new castle line at younger kids, since LotR was so AFOL based.
January 4, 201312 yr @ rogueang Weird thought Lotr was selling well, after all I would have sacrificed my right arm for Lotr lego when I was 10-12 XD me and my brother even tried to make custom elven daggers for our Legolas moc by modifying lego katanas... which I now regret... though I guess the Hobbit didn't boost it's popularity enough shame they didn't make lotr lego earlier... as for the Royal Knights, they and fright knights were the castle themes of my childhood so I guess I will also vouch for them (though I prefer fright knights) the wolves seem awesome though
January 4, 201312 yr I think the Hobbit is doing much better because it was timed with the movie. It fits too, because Unexpected Gathering and Warg Attack are selling like hotcakes (even Goblin City set is selling decently) while Mirkwood Spiders and Barrel Escape are not doing parcticularly well. I think if LotR Legos would have coincided with the original LotR release, they would have sold much better. I'm just happy they are out, and I count each new wave we get as an unexpected gift.

I'm just happy they are out, and I count each new wave we get as an unexpected gift. Wow just think about it, having LOTR legos released from 2001 (before FotR came out) until 2004. Then Hobbit sets 2012-2014. Did lego show any interest in buying the LotR theme before the release of the Hobbit? Was it too expensive? I mean in popularity and age groups LotR was like Harry Potter I believe. Why didn't they build on the theme before (even if they started AFTER they knew the succes of the first movie, they'd still have enough time to catch up, right?)?
January 4, 201312 yr Don't forget that the CEO in 2001-2004 was still in the founding family. I think that has more to do with business practices and goals than anything else.
January 4, 201312 yr lotr? lets talk about the new castl sets please. You're the one with all the inside info... YOU talk about new castle sets, lol
January 4, 201312 yr just saw better photos that is all. anyway if I can help don't hesitate to ask. I still waiting for more finished sets/figures info. I just hope that thay will be better.

January 5, 201312 yr Do you have a link to the better set photos? These are all preliminary photos, so it's going to be really hard for someone to take better quality photos due to how restricted it is to view them.
January 5, 201312 yr its probably been asked but in the last few days there have been about 10 - 15 pages fo discussion so Ill ask, are there forestmen in this wave?
January 5, 201312 yr its probably been asked but in the last few days there have been about 10 - 15 pages fo discussion so Ill ask, are there forestmen in this wave? Apparently not. Although we were treated to a few pics of "Menquiteobviouslynotwearingtights" a few pages back.
January 5, 201312 yr its probably been asked but in the last few days there have been about 10 - 15 pages fo discussion so Ill ask, are there forestmen in this wave? It doesn't sound like it. There has been talk of a possible Wolf Heraldry though. I think that pictures are too grainy to tell but one of our posters says they have seen the retailer's catalog.
January 5, 201312 yr As far as I can tell lotr is selling well here. The stores either sold out of a lot of the sets or they never ordered a new supply to restock the shelves. It has been sold out quite frequently around here. I'm sure The Hobbit helped a lot too. I think a lot has to do with the region you live in. I would suspect this castle theme to sell well too. It seems to cover a lot that lotr doesn't. I will most likely skip the sets due to buying other more important sets for me, but it seems to have a nice offering.
January 5, 201312 yr Does it look like we will get a new torso for the king? The kings torso is hidden. it is dark blue with arms in light blue. Can you give a more detailed description of the Forest Ambush set? this is my description at page 18: the smallest set, forrest ambush, has 4 minifigures, 2 good and 2 bad guys. there is no horse. there is a small ugly tree with flick missile and a cart with the treasure chest on it. and yes, tere is a dog! its probably been asked but in the last few days there have been about 10 - 15 pages fo discussion so Ill ask, are there forestmen in this wave? no forrestman
January 5, 201312 yr So no horse pulling the cart in Forest Ambush? Any extra details you can see of the 2 good and 2 bad minifig? Are they soldiers, knights, civilians and/or bandits? What are they carrying? Edited January 5, 201312 yr by Mahtion

What are they carrying? no horse, just a dog. 4 soldiers no knights no civilians. I can see 2 shields, 1 for each part, 1 pike, 1 axe and 1 Weapon Spiked Flail. very simple set, I would say a battle pack. The torsos of the goodies are without printings, due to preliminary photoI guess. the baddies are with printings but I don's see the details. The cart is similar to the set 1736. the tree is made with Round 1 x 1 Open Stud. Edited January 5, 201312 yr by october
January 5, 201312 yr Thanks October! Great descriptions and now I know what I'm looking at. I will need to ask about LOTR next. ;)

I need more doggies.
