So far I've acquired two of the 70404 King's Castle, one 70403 Dragon Mountain, four 70402 Gatehouse Raid, one 70401 Gold Getaway, and ten 70400 Forest Ambush. In the end, I'd like to have one more castle, two more gatehouses, and at least five more Forest Ambush sets. I combine two gatehouse sets per castle, with each layout being different, and split the soldiers that come in the Forest Ambush sets among them evenly. I wasn't even that big on the dragon faction, but with all of the purchases, I've ended up with nearly 40 figures which I'm calling the Crimson Knights and have taken a liking to them. I'm calling the good guys the Trinity Kingdom, which explains why I want three castles, and made my own lords for each:

Does anyone know how well the sets are selling? I really want them to be doing well enough to warrant another wave. I am already craving more sets. I'd especially love it if there was at least one set that had the modular ability to connect somehow to the castle/gatehouse combo. Anyway, I really love the latest castle line. It has far exceeded my initial expectations.

You mean as side from you buying out a third of the production run single handedly? ;)

Just from eyeballing it on store shelves the new Castle line seems to be doing well. At least in my area.

Great minifigs, Kliq! They've got a lot of personality. What is the torso on the guy in the middle?

It looks like the Barbossa torso from the Fountain of Youth POTC set.

I agree that your figures look great though. Lots of character.

As far as how the theme is doing..I haven't a clue. Only one place near me has a few of the smaller sets, but otherwise I haven't seen them around. Most of the places near me only recently got the Lone Ranger sets even though I got them at the LEGO store back in April, if that says anything...Maybe my stores just don't get much.

Have fun with your buying/building. I wish I could be excited about this theme, but I can't get past my Kingdoms love. (On second thought, I'm glad I'm not into this theme, I wouldn't have any money left!)

Yep, that's the one!

Thanks for the comments on the figures, I had a lot of fun Bricklink shopping for their pieces. I also made a few others for special heroes/generals among the generic soldiers. I also love the torsos on the soldiers in the Cavalry Builder Lone Ranger set. I've bought several of those and hacked them up for medieval guards.

@ Faefrost: Haha, I wish that's all it took.

As a stand alone castle, I do prefer the one from the Kingdoms line. The rooms in the towers had nice doors, and actually seemed to have purpose. In the 70404 castle you have tower rooms that are just open, one of which has part of the catapult firing mechanism thrust up through the middle, so it isn't like you could really do much with that room unless you disassembled it. I still like it though, obviously. I don't think it would take much (a modular civilian set that would fit along the wall?) to make this castle superior to that one, at least in my eyes.

I am glad to hear the comments about sets, seemingly, selling well locally. The Target closest to me keeps selling out of 70403, and there are only ever a couple of 70404s around at any given time. They don't even stock 70400, though. I thought that was odd. I found them at my local TRU, but they were a dollar more per set than online. I still scooped up 10 at once because you can only buy 5 at a time online. I think I took about half of what they had on the shelf. The sets overall didn't fill up the shelves, but they were pushed toward the front leaving a big gap to the back of the wall.

I haven't bought up a bunch of LEGO sets like this since the first Galaxy Squad line came out. Just a few hours ago I purchased the Tower of Orthanc and a 79007 to go with it. I was going to save the big tower as a future birthday present, but I really want it for an opposing faction's headquarters and I can now just ask for 10236 (Ewok Village) for my bday instead, and strip it of SW figures and make it a forestmen-like village.

Anyway, I am going to go nuts from when I finish building my new sets until I see pictures of the next wave of Castle sets. Of course then I am going to go even crazier until I am actually able to purchase them.

10236 is my most desired "Castle" set for that exact reason. My extra Forestmen will finally have a home!

And, while I'm posting, are the other two torsos in your picture from POTC too?

The torso on the right is from the CMF Shakespearean actor, while the one on the left is from the old pirate Armarda line.

Thanks for the information. :classic:

Yes, that is correct! Between my wigs and those torsos, I wouldn't have had so much trouble putting these figures together had LEGO just released their 'Europa' line.

Now that is awesome to see someone with the same idea. I think it is going to be so great!

For some reason, these sets - along with the LOTR - aren't showing up in the local stores in my area, only the TRU. So not sure how well they are doing. However, I did pick up one of each of these new sets. Absolutely love them. Color scheme, structure designs. All look good.

I really like your middle minifig. That hair piece really works well for kings.

I picked up a couple of these sets from Denmark, the 70401 Gold Getaway and 70403 Dragon Mountain. I was surprised by the quality of at least the smaller sets - I think from the initial pictures and reactions I thought we might be looking at a far more boring theme than actually materialized. I like the new faction colors and there is quite a bit of nice detail in these sets when looking closer. I don't know if I (or the family) plan to acquire further sets, but so far so good. I do concur with those who would love to see civilian sets for the new LEGO Castle though. That was a truly great feature of the original grey Castle. TLG left LEGO Kingdoms a little clinical, I hope there is more "LEGO City" in the future of LEGO Castle... Think of it, a medieval fire station... and of course, LEGO Castle Friends! Well, that last sentence was a joke, otherwise I'm serious.

Can you tell me the prices in DKK? I can't seem to find them anywhere. =\
