May 25, 201311 yr I saw all of the sets at the LEGO store yesterday. Tempting....I want that wizard and the prison carriage!

May 26, 201311 yr May I just say that I'm terribly disappointed how few official pics are on shop.LEGO.com for even the largest set? I'm used to only having a couple pics in themes like Hero Factory where the model is relatively easy to decipher at a glance, without a whole lot of action features or interior details. Even this year when there stopped being official pics to demonstrate Technic functions or launcher functions I tolerated it. But this is getting ridiculous. The King's Castle has a lot of impressive features that I think would really increase its appeal if they were shown visually.
May 26, 201311 yr The misinformation in that review almost made me cry. "Palace?" "Lion Tribe" and the mixing-up of who's on what side. Pathetic. And I still don't know if the carriage roof is designed to come off for play inside! Edited May 26, 201311 yr by 8BrickMario

You know a review is a stinker when they confuse Castle with Chima (Even a child wouldn't do that) Plus not even bother to go into detail to show us that the carriage can in fact open from the top. Watch J2G's review, much better and much more passionate IMO. Plus, I want to state again that this guy only comes on here to advertise his reviews, disrespecting EB in a way for free advertising.

If you want to cram a few more, there is some space.
May 26, 201311 yr I have lost a whole lot of respect for YCF. Switching to J2G and BrickQueen from now on!
May 26, 201311 yr You had respect for YCF? All of these reviews (besides YCF's) have made the fire within me burn brighter for these sets. I don't want them now... I NEED THEM!

I got Dragon Mountain and why it isn't necessarily a masterpiece, I personally love it as it has everything I love about Castle: A playset, lovely catapult, wide array of minifigures, treasure, hidden nooks and crannies and fun accessories. I added a custom jester in the mix for some fun too a la Drawbridge Defense! (A set I definitely should've picked up. )
May 26, 201311 yr I don't know what I like better about DM, the room with the goblet and cheese used as cheese, or the potion room behind the spider web...
May 26, 201311 yr The potion room has a set of keys which I thought was cool. Sneak into the wizard's cave to get the key for the princess' prison. :)
May 27, 201311 yr I find it weird that my local toys r us has the Castle set but my Lego Store doesn't(they don't know about it coming out, and YET they have the smaller Castle Lego Sets not just the big castle), although tempting, but I don't know, I am a Kingdoms fan more than anything and just don't dig the flashy and fantasy theme I guess.
May 27, 201311 yr The Yorkdale LEGO store in Toronto has all the sets. They looked quite enticing, particularly Gatehouse Raid, but I went for the Lone Ranger Stagecoach instead. As much as I love these new sets, I know if I buy one, I'll want them all, and then I'll want to army build. It's a slippery slope...

May 28, 201311 yr I purchased Gatehouse Raid today. What better set to start of this theme than this one?
May 28, 201311 yr I don't understand the appeal for the Gatehouse. It looks fairly bland, and not too playable. The only good part I see would be the barding for the new horses. Not nearly as interesting as the Dragon Knight's stuff! To me, there are much better $30 sets, including, most notably, the CLS-89 Eradicator Mech.

These two factions would be awesome as supplementary forces for past evil and good teams. If they're not already, I'm sure the minifigs will become available on BrickLink. Some of them won't be cheap, but they will cost a lot less than buying all the sets. I'm planning on getting Dragon Mt mostly for the dragon and minifigs.

To me, there are much better $30 sets, including, most notably, the CLS-89 Eradicator Mech. I think part of it is that its architecture is very distinct from past castles: instead of just being elaborate stonework, it has brown shingled roofs which add a lot of character. Additionally, like the King's Castle, it can be used to expand the previous King's Castle just by switching out the flags and cheese slopes. And also, it has a horse, two knights in full armor, and two additional knights. This, plus being the smallest set to include a building of any real substance, makes it a great first purchase for those who aren't keen on saving up for the King's Castle or can better justify a smaller purchase.
May 29, 201311 yr It's like a combination of these 2 Kingdoms sets: The latter of which was on shelves for about 3 minutes never to be seen again due to popularity & multi-buy-ability.
