Unfortunately it seems that way. The preliminary photo didn't have one, it was suggested that the final set would, but it doesn't look like it!

I found to my surprise that both blue and red saddles are less common than I thought. They haven't been used in a long time. I suppose it shouldn't stop TLG from throwing in a brown or dark grey one for that set though.

There's nothing more to talk about. Unless something comes up later in the year for Classic Castle sets all we're getting is the battle packs and a set in the Juniors theme.

Come September we can open the 2015 rumours thread and start the speculation all over again.

With two "castle" orientated themes running at the moment; in terms of Classic Castle aimed at the younger market and LOTR/Hobbit aimed at the older market; the offerings were always going to be fairly light to ensure that they don't over-saturate the market.

I purchased both the dragon and the crown battle packs, and they are both actually very nice. The hands aren't terrible at gripping their weapons, even in some cases where the weapons weren't being fully held properly by the minifigs in the packaging (their hands were being stretched out by a weapon not 'clicked' into the hand's grip ). I also purchased nearly every Disney Princess set and discarded the minidolls and replaced them with minifigures. While the sets are far more colorful than any of my other castles, they all have interiors and will have to be my castle substitute for the time being. I also purchased the pink Junior's princess castle tub. There isn't much there, but again, it is my only link to new castle sets. That is how desperate I've become.

No, they don't. They seem to be pretty good quality overall, though. That is a good sign.

Interesting. I'm going to grab some off S@H at some point. First I want to know the SW promo minifig to see whether I'll wait until then (and get everything I want at once to avoid the insane postage cost) or not.

I picked up the movie set a little while ago, it was okay, but later I realised that it's the same price as the gatehouse set, which is far better value.

It is not such a bad Junior set. Although I wished for more castle sets and parties/teams.

Brickfan27, I would recommend checking out the instruction books from the different blacksmith sets over the years. I am skipping the Juniors set and the battle packs this year. I might try to get some older sets off of eBay since I like the older heraldry better.

I ordered the new battle pack (Lion group) because it looked interesting. After reading this thread, it is somewhat disappointing that it all comes preassembled. I thought the whole point of Lego is that you get to put things together. Yes I know that it would take very little time to put 4 guys together, but still, half the fun is the assembly. Even the minifig packs come in pieces. I also agree that Forest Ambush seems to be a better deal, because you get the same number of minifigs, but more parts.

Has anyone else noticed a price increase in the Forest Ambush? All the walmarts and targets around me have them at $15. Whereas the Gatehouse is down to $20.

I found at least three Lions torsos (Kingdoms style) in the Build a Minifigure station yesterday. Good find on the prices Ridge Montante. I might consider the Gatehouse at that price.

Forest Ambush is still available where you live? Wow, it sold out quickly near me last year, haven't seen it since. I think they only came out in August or September too.

Yea, I see them all the time at my Walmarts.

I think there must be too many AFOLs in my area, every set worth getting multiples of disappears quickly.

Agree that the battlepacks aren't very good value compared to Forrest Ambush. Unless you are specifically after the knight figures. I was going to get the battlepacks but I think I'll just get some more forrest ambush and a couple of gatehouse raids instead (at least it has some useful parts).

I'll probably pick up a couple of the battle packs, mainly for the knights. I do agree, Forest Ambush is far better value!

I already have 2 of the Gatehouse Raid but I might consider a third at $20. Personally, I'd get the Red Dragon battle pack just to even up the number of soldiers. Sure, they have a dragon, but they could still use some more guys, even at least as just food for the dragon.

If you look at this new Duplo set, it shows the Kingdoms line as opposed to the blue lion color scheme. I found that interesting. I doubt it means anything, but interesting nonetheless.

I would be happy if the system sets return to the Kingdoms factions. I am probably getting this for my nephew. That and one of the new Batman ones.

The above two posts are the exact reason why there should be a 'like' button on here.

But it would be awesome to see more kingdoms. I just wouldn't expect it.
