Nice haul. I wonder if you get the 50% off card is it only on that order or could you continue to shop after you scratched it to end up spending what you originally would have (only now with twice as much stuff!). Because that is what I would do.

...got back home an hour or so ago, after the 9-10am Brick Friday event at my local Lego store... my son came with me (thank you!) because I let him pick the discount card... my lucky star is shinning on me this rainy morning (it's actually pouring on our way to the mall) because he got 1 of 5 50% off card. Yes, first time ever!

Our original pile of small lego sets (starting my holiday shopping for nephews and nieces) was probably worth a little over $200, but when we got the 50% card, the store associate told me that I could go back and buy more sets. 30 minutes later, I was paying up $1,873.41 worth of Lego, after the 50% discount. I don't know how I'm going to pay for these (my family will probably be eating bread and water for the rest of the year), but I just couldn't let 50% off pass me by.

On top of these, we got 2 free pick-a-brick boxes (green ones this year) when we arrived, plus two VIP exclusive access card on a lanyard... with this purchase, we also got for free several Monster sticker sheets, 3 more VIP exclusive access card on a lanyard, 4 of those red lego bags and 6 pick-a-brick boxes. Starting the day, expecting no excitement, ending it with a blast!... Thank you, TLC...

Christmas Came Early This Year!

I just got back from this mornings VIP event. I usually enjoy a trip to the LEGO Store, but man, I REALLY enjoyed the concierge shopping service I got this morning.

The Freebie Swag included:

A Lego Shop poster

VIP badge and lanyard

A Lego Tote

A Pick-a-brick box to fill today

A Pick-a-brick box to fill after Christmas

A Chrome TC-14 polybag -and-

The 2012 limited edition Holiday set (3300014)

An then there's the haul:

7345 Transport Chopper

9396 Helicopter

9397 Logging Truck

9398 4x4 Crawler

9474 Helm's Deep

9476 Orc Forge

10188 Death Star

10193 Medieval Market Village

10197 Fire Brigade

10223 Kingdom's Joust

10225 R2D2

10229 Winter Village Cottage

21014 Villa Savoye

21016 Sungnyemun

And the best part I scored 20% off so between that and redeeming some VIP points the whole thing was about $1200 AND they even helped me load it all into my car.

I'm a happy puppy right now :sweet:

Wow. I got everything BUT the pick-a-brick for now. I was told that even though I bought $75 or more I could only get one pick-a-brick bag. We can't get a free one plus one for the $75 or more. Didn't seem right but I didn't want to be a pest.

Also, I didn't get the tc-14. I was told it was only if we bought the B-wing.

Either you got a good deal or our store wasn't prepared. They even left the door unlocked so some casual store shoppers came in. They didn't scoot them out either.

Oh. Nobody got the 50%. We were told maybe 12 cards of 400 had the 50%. I got a 20%. Which is like a 10% because the store is marked up 10% over Lego online.

Maybe, in my case, I bought so much stuff that they just assumed there was a B-Wing somewhere in the pile and threw in the TC-14 by accident, I didn't even realize it was in one of the bags until I got home (I actually bought the B Wing separately about two weeks ago.) But hey, who am I to argue with free Minifigures :sweet:

Wow! Lucky on the extras. No monster sticker sheets or extra VIP cards w/lanyard(but nobody asked.they did have a bunch that was t used.). I would love to get more of those tote bags. We got two. One for me and a guest. I asked if we could buy some but he said no, it wasn't for sale.

Really? Where are you? That sounds ridiculous. I won't repeat the freebies since everyone got pretty much the same things, but as usual I did NOT see anyone at my store score 50% off, although I did see 20% (although I only got 10%). There looked like there was a thousand cards in that box, though, maybe more... not just a few hundred.

I also don't get why you didn't get another pick-a-brick box. One was supposed to be free for being a VIP (and a friend - I brought my daughter with me and we each got one), the other is a reward for buying $75 for LEGO - it's two separate things, and I'd be pretty annoyed if I didn't get it. On top of that, while I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, I think the one box limit kind of sucks - do they not want to reward people for buying even more LEGO? You can buy $1000 worth and get the same "bonus" as someone who buys $75?

Saying it's not fair is wrong - it's a freebie and we're lucky to get it (and franky. I didn't buy that much anyway - just enough to get the Christmas set, because even with 10%, it's often easier to find better prices elsewhere), but it seems counter intuitive to not reward the biggest spenders with bigger (commensurate) rewards.

They also MADE us fill the pick-a-brick boxes we got for VIP... I had perused the p-a-b wall and wasn't interested, so figured we save them until after Christmas, and they said "no," that we had to fill them then. So we're filling them, and then they were like "Oh... you only have to fill one now, and you can use the other later" after both the boxes were half full, so we just went with it and filled them up (over 600 pieces!).

I also felt rushed. There was probably about 35 people there, total, and we were all at the wall trying to pack our boxes.

Fred67- Well Hawaii is "small-er" of locations? The person said they had about 400 cards for brick friday and mention how many cards was 50% off. I'm guessing that would be a guess. Unless to stop pirating they shipped the 50% seperately so they could mix it into the deck?

I may bring up the pick-a-brick when I go back to the store. It's a small box but I guess when you consider I missed two boxes that would be more pieces than I would get out of any small set. :)

Btw, I've been to two of these events. It feels a lot like apple store having a sale. It's rare. They don't give any big discounts. And it feels like they are doing you the favor for having it.

From all the freebies we got, I think the poster and pick-a-brick now box is the special for being there an hour early before the store opens. The bag(something about online giving the bag?) Christmas set and discounts is all part of something that any VIP will get at one point before Christmas.

I would wish that next year, if I'm invited they have special sale items for the VIP people. And since Hawaii is marked up 10%, I hope it's more than 20% off. If not, many stores will have better sales than the Lego stores. Like Target or if you live somewhere where Toys R Us doesn't mark up Lego by 50%, the BOGO sales from them.
