v6TransAM Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Welcome along. The Constitution train chase set might be a good option, or try to find just the Engine of the Emerald Night, many people bought multiple sets for extra carriages. I looked at it a few times, of course he had to see the Emerald Night when I was poking around online....... lol Kind of like how he locked on the Cargo Train because he saw it on the box. I just wish of all the train stuff I literally had in my hands the last 10 years I would have bought lol. Of course until we put it together I did not know if it would be acceptable to him because it was not "Thomas". I am a big time Transformer as well, got a few bites on folks willing to trade for extras that I have, but unsure as to what they have train wise. Quote
Doom2099 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone. I've been enjoying lots of great posts, MOCs, tips and advice reading here, and thought I'd finally join up. You can see maybe from my signatures that I get into trains every 10 years or so. Compared to the <insert that tiresome argument> sets around 1999, it seems like it's a great time to be back into Lego! And in case they're around, I just want to say a big thank you to the folks at http://www.fa-meier.de/lego/traindepot/depot.html for their great Lego trains images. beralios Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Hi All from Beralios. I'm an AFOL really, playing with LEGOs when I was a child.. the adult phase is relatively recent. I'm into Trains and City mostly but also a great StarWars fan and others like Modular Buildings. I've done some layout but not very advanced, with inclines, bridge and little tunnel. If MOC stay for creations and MOD for design, how do we call the modifications starting from an "official" design? That's what I do for now, personal modifications starting from an official or someone else design which inspire. I love using LDD for projects Here in forum I found people with brilliant construction skills and Ideas I will post mine, images & LXF files if someone is interested even if they're on a very base techinque. Cheers Beralios Quote
zephyr1934 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Welcome aboard Beralios (and the other new folks who recently posted), it will be great chatting more with all of you in the general forums. Meanwhile, MOC = My Own Creation, MOD = MODified set (or something similar) Quote
MusicaRibelle Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Hello, everybody, I have just left a thirty years-long dark age and I'm happily in possession again of Lego and Lego train and thoroughly enjoying it! I am already thankful to some of you for many useful posts I've read in the past two weeks. This forum is phenomenal! In my previous life, in a different continent, I had 'rescued' parts of a 4.5v blue-rails set from a swap-meet (possibly set 181, with almost no pieces for the locomotive..), and added a few gray tracks, the Crane Wagon, and the railroad crossing. I had no money or space for a proper motorized layout, but lots of time and fantasy for MOCs of small locomotives and train cars. Lots of fun. All those are stowed away across an ocean and a continent. Now I've restarted with the Cargo Train 7939 and I'm awaiting delivery of the Horizon Express. Lego is a beautiful thing! Afol and proud, MusicaRibelle Quote
Zed_43 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Hi everyone! I've just seen we should present ourself here! So my name's Julien, I am 25 and I am a french builder and I love lego trains. I'm trying to built models of trains running here in France. For the moment, I made passenger train, the AGC X76500 (by bombardier) and a BB67400 engine that is still in it's improvement process. This engine will be pulling 2 or 3 corail coaches for which, some parts are ordered... On the other hand, I have a couple of modded horizon express and a 7987 ice train that I'm alson modding when I have parts for this. I also get some other official trains but all spared in my brick stock except for the cargo RC train that I quite like like this! I hope you will enjoy my creation as much as I have pleasure seeing other people's! Cheers, Julien Quote
djm Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hi David here. I've been browsing this forum for a couple of months, so I guess it's time to say hello. I've got two young kids, 5 and 6. They're my excuse for getting back into Lego! Long, long, long dark age. Regards, David Quote
rogul Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 lurker here for a while.. 12V fan, getting back into it after so many years :) hi! rogul Quote

niels0 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Hi guys, another trainfan that likes to register. After 30 years I started constructing my sets again. My first trainset was the 171 from the blue era but it isn't complete anymore. Soon I got the 147 from my granddad as a birthday-present. I still have it. It looks very old. After saving money for ages I was able to buy the 7760 , still my favorite. Then later, when I collected more track, I got the 7725 from my parents as a birthday gift. I also have some side-structures like the 7822 and the 7838 along with . More extra's I have: 7867 , 7863 , 7860 , 158 , 702 Plan is to collect all items from the grey era and let the trains run on an automated track having 3 levels. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Welcome aboard niels0, your introductory post is fantastic. I like the small pictures intermixed in line with the text, not to mention the fact that you can remember who gave you what. Quote
Drizzt Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 A big time Lego train fan here. I Have picked up all of the trains that have been out since coming our of the dark ages 3 years or so ago. I am really disappointed that I do not still have my space monorail from years past. I do hope to see Lego reinvesting more into the train space as they had in prior years. Train MOCs and towns are always a wonderful thing to see. Quote

snaphappyninja Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Well after some fantastic advice from this forum i have finally taken the plunge. After a great (and expensive) trip to the lego shop in Milton Keynes, i am now the happy owner of 60052 (ok i bought lots of other bits as well). Been building for a few days now and am really impressed with the design and the build. thanks for the advice and such a great forum, am now really looking forward to Brick2014 where hopefully will be able to meet some like minded souls. :) Quote
zephyr1934 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Welcome aboard snaphappyninja, 60052 looks like a great set and I bet you will have a lot of fun adding your own twists to it. See you in the forums! Quote
RTZX9R Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Howdy, I like to collect all the [train] sets I was never able to get as a child, which includes 12v sets never sold in the USA. I have all of these sets built and in storage boxes to keep dust free. Here is my current collection of trains, excluding other types of buildings /sets. I also enjoy seeing all of the great MOC's you all make, many of which are quite detailed! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Greetings RTZX9R, that is a mighty nice collection you have. And don't worry if you don't have any MOC's, plenty of the folks in this forum don't. There is always something interesting going on and worthy of comment. See you in the forums Quote
Exa Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Hello, I just start a new Lego collection with trains (already got a lot of Star Wars and Technics sets). 10233 Horizon Express : I did not buy it when it was released. It was one of the first Lego train I really wanted. But the lacking of tracks makes me wait... 60051 High-Speed Passenger Train : I love Ice, so this is the first train I buy. I did not wait a second to buy it. By the way, I order Horizon Express. Without tracks, trains are rather useless. So I also buy 6 x 7499 Flexible and Straight Tracks 1 x 7895 Switching Tracks This week, I start to use a BlueBric software to design a track layout. Few days later, I got my project but I was needing some more tracks... 66374 City Super Pack 4 in 1 : I just found this nice box today in a commercial center. This box got all missing tracks. So, I take it and one more train comes home ! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Great finds Exa and indeed, it sounds like you have a nice railroad coming along. Remember to customize and adjust anything you see out of place as you go along (grin). Quote
Adolfo Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Hello! I collect LEGO since when I was a child and for many years I have been in the "Dark Age". In that time, I devoted my attention to another hobby, the model railroading, replaced gradually by our dear bricks. I’ve always been a fan of LEGO trains, but only after the Constitution Train Chase launch and because of a MOC I motivated myself to buy some. I have several ongoing projects involving trains and the comments about them encouraged me to register myself on Eurobricks forum and share with AFOLs from the LEGO world my MOCs. Currently, I’m LUG Brazil’s member and through its events that I find the opportunity to show the public and especially children my constructions. I hope I can always contribute to the LEGO world and encourage good ideas and inspirations on all. Quote
Exa Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Welcome Adolfo and congratulations for your wonderful station ! Quote
yogi_007 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Hi train AFOLs, I finally decided to register after a long time reading the forum. Im into trains and love the detailed lego trains like emerald night and the horizon express. Its a shame Im in Australia as I would love to visit some of the lego exhibitions in the US or Europe to get some more train ideas. Well that's it for now - Yogi :) Quote
zephyr1934 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Welcome aboard Yogi! There are several Australians lurking around these parts, so you should run into familiar company soon enough. Of course you are already in one of the best places to find lego train inspiration. Quote
peterab Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Hi yogi_007, What city are you in? There are a number of active groups in Australia which have good exhibitions. I'm in Melbourne and the M>LTC displays a layout many times a year. The biggest layout is normally at Brickvention in January. Quote
