Brickington Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Ok, thanks, I will probably have to do something like that... Quote
Grimmbeard Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Yes, you can always make your own islanders as well using blank yellow torsos and such. Edited November 20, 2012 by Grimmbeard Quote
Styrbjorn Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Hi again... Must I use the "real" decals of the soldiers that already is, or is it ok with other? As the one in the left here: And, if I am a sailor, can my minifig have a uniform, as the "admiral torso" or must it be a sailor torso? Edited November 20, 2012 by Styrbjorn Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I will use my brave custom guys again I think. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 I'm afraid I have to disagree with Blackmoor here. I don't mind what avatar torso you are using, but for normal soldiers I'd prefer the old torso. We will not disqualify you with your minifig as long as it clearly is a soldier with blue clothes though. The thing is, this tournament is all between those two factions and I think it's more fun if those factions are always clearly recognizable. So if people start using all different kinds of red or blue torsos, it may look a little unorganized. Besides, can't we just expect members in the pirates forum to have at least 1 bluecoat and 1 redcoat soldier? Basically that's the only thing you need in order to sign up, which isn't such a big demand if you ask me. So, for your avatar you can use everything (but if you dress/behave according to your rank that would be nice!) For Bluecoat soldiers we prefer the regular soldier, but if that's not possible you can use another blue torso. But do make it look like a soldier in that case! Quote
Brickington Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 And, if I am a sailor, can my minifig have a uniform, as the "admiral torso" or must it be a sailor torso? I know my sig-fig is going to be colonel, because my rank is colonel. But as the Croissant said, he prefers it that you be what you are. Quote
Styrbjorn Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Thank you. I'm really sad because I don't have any bluecoats but I wasn't born when they ruled the seas(i think so), and because of that, I don't have any. I know, bricklink, but I have never used it so it's a great step. My sigfig will be a sailor! Sometimes it's fun with low ranks:) the soldiers will look like the newer red but in blue:) ok? Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 ...do you also accept this 'junior set' torso as a bluecoat? http://www.bricklink...p?P=973pb529c01 ...and this Pirates of the Caribbean torso as a Redcoat officer? http://www.bricklink...p?P=973pb880c01 ...and the CMF pirate torso as a Redcoat? http://www.bricklink...?P=973pb1245c01 Edit: ...and (how) does this dark blue PotC torso enter into it? http://www.bricklink...p?P=973pb945c01 The first one is a no. I had a talk with crewmembers and we've decided it's too far from a military/soldier uniform. The second one is a definite yes. You can use it for a redcoat officer. The CMF torso is a no again. It's too piraty, and we prefer not to use too many different torsos. The dark blue PotC torso can go as a Bluecoat officer. I'll megablocks this to the first post. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Thanks for clearing that up, Admiral Croissant. Shame yer on the wrong side o' this battle. You coulda done well on the winning side... Quote

Mr Spielbrick Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Can't the barbossa torso be a bluecoat too? In the edited first post of this thread, the privateer Barbossa torso is listed as Bluecoat, rather than Redcoat. My guess is, the Admiral made a mistake in the post you've quoted. (Which is to be expected of a Bluecoat, drag 'em to Davy Jones, yada yada yada, you know the drill.) Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 I would swear I already wrote Bluecoat there. In the rules it was also a bluecoat. Seems like somebody has been messing around with my post Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I'll megablocks this to the first post. megablocks probably means add but misspelled and d swapped with s, which got censored (sloppy Bluecoats) :D I got another question - for the first theme: do POTC cannibals count as Islanders, or do we have to use the old ones? Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 The POTC cannibals are fine, but prefably the old ones. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 NOTE: The theme of the second round has been changed from "treasure" into "pirates". I think Pirates is a bit easier to work with. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 NOTE: The theme of the second round has been changed from "treasure" into "pirates". I think Pirates is a bit easier to work with. Works for me. My preliminary idea already included both. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Awwww and my idea about the treasure was so cool! Think the bluecoats got scared ... Quote
hjmediastudios Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 So how far are we allowed to deviate from the "classic" pirates scheme? Are we allowed to extrapolate the Redcoats/Bluecoats rivalry back to the Stone Age or into the future for comic effect? Quote
Sebeus I Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Considering this is a comic contest, not a building contest I suppose it's all right if I recycle some MOCs to use in my comics ? Quote

Are we allowed to extrapolate the Redcoats/Bluecoats rivalry back to the Stone Age or into the future for comic effect? Of course we prefer the classic-pirates setting, but as long as it's funny you're free to put them in any age Awwww and my idea about the treasure was so cool! Think the bluecoats got scared ... No problem. You can always post it. When you post extra comics you might win an extra prize I'm actually quite curious about your idea. Considering this is a comic contest, not a building contest I suppose it's all right if I recycle some MOCs to use in my comics ? Of course! You could even use regular LEGO sets if you want to. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Ok, so where do the comics go? Under Pirates or the MOC section? Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 Ok, so where do the comics go? Under Pirates or the MOC section? You can post them in the MOC section, just like in the previous ToR's. Quote
Grimmy Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Is there any ready made examples I could check out? Their is a lot of rules, I did read them and I think I might understand but an example comic would be great :) Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 Yes you can find many examples in this thread and in this one. This year is the same, except for the islanders theme thing. Quote
Styrbjorn Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 One last ask. Is pippins torso ok to use? It works well for low ranks I think but I don't think that's ok. Quote
