Brickington Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 We all know the Lions vs. the Dragons, but where does the old Crownies go in your mocs? Quote
Natetrooper Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I use them as another noble and his loyal men-at-arms. Quote
Brickington Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 I use them as the lion king's royal guards and have the lion knights as the main army Quote
Martin_B Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) I've been thinking about how to use additional groups and factions, and decided on a role of subordinate guard within the main army, e.g. Lion Knights vs Dragon Knights with the Black Falcons being the soldiers of a knight/landowner who answers to the king. That way, there's the possibility for internal rivalries and attempts to overthrow the current ruler at the hands of a supposedly 'loyal' subject. Forestmen and that Bull guy are then outlaws or mercenaries who go wherever there's excitement/fame/fortune to be had! Edited November 19, 2012 by Martin_B Quote
SirBlake Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 All my sets are assembled. I moved all of my classic lions/crusaders to kings castle, and gave the mountain fortress to the crownies. They seem happy there. :-) Quote
dgherko Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Mine are their own faction. Brickshelf member name dgh http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3926548 Quote
Nintendawg Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 ^ Cool army. I only have about 5 crown knights, but lots of the newer kingdoms knights. So they are a small group of travellers from the old world (castle 2007), sent by their king to explore the new world (kingdoms 2010). They are diplomatically neutral to Dragons and Lion knights. Quote
Watchman Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Crown Knights are allies to Lion Knights (both old (i.e. "Crusaders" and new) and are against Dragon Knights, Undead, Troll/Orcs, Falcon Knights, Wolfpack, Shadow Knights, Bull Knights etc ... ... as ever the forces of good are out numbered by the forces of evil - I am currently at about 200 vs 300 respectively. no fleshies allowed, so will have to build LotR armies separately ... Quote
Brickington Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 That is quite an army! I only have about 60 castle figures. Quote
Fives Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I treat my Crownies as their own faction, being allied to the Lion knights. Before LOTR, the Crownies were The equivilant to Gondor, while the Lions were Rohan, the Trolls were orcs and Skellies were goblins of the Misty Mountains, and the Dragon knights were like the Easterlings I guess. Now, they are all factions set within the same world that my LOTR armies are, and there are wars from Tim to time between the old castle world and the new LOTR world. Yet, LOTR always wins. I like to imagine there being a great battle between my good LOTR army and bad LOTR army, but the fight is interrupted by the castle armies, and the LOTR armies band together o defeat the castle armies, and then the LOTR armies finish their battle for domination over the territory. And now with the addition of the Hobbit sets, I now have a force of dwarves bigger than my castle dwarf army. Sorry, that became a bit of a random tangent. Quote
Vindicare Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I use them as they were intended, their own faction. It's not like there was just one good side and one bad side. They could even be from a neighboring country. Quote
Durins Bane Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I use my 150 of them for brickwars... Quote
CommoScout Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I have all my factions set into their own groups. Crowns, Dragons, Falcons, Lions, so forth and so on. I use the older sets as family teirs, older Lions as the father, newer Lions as the son, and the middle set Lions as cousins or another son. I have built a semi small world and story around each faction. When I finally get a room for all of my Lego I'll get to set up my world and flesh out my story. Quote
Rast Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Crown knights are the best they fight skeletons, Trolls, Orcs (small trolls) and dragons :) Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Crownie torso´s with green arms are excellent for making Mitgardian soldiers Quote
Zilcho Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Well I have more crownies than lion knights so the lions are a smaller faction within the crownies, whilst my small collection of dragons are mercenaries (small = 2). It's annoying though because my 3 lions just disappeared, and I've never seen any trace of them since. My trolls ally with the uruks, skellies and mercenaries/Vikings Quote
Faefrost Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 I view the small contingent of Crownies I have as something akin to the City Watch. Not so much a faction themselves, but those tasked with preventing the open warfare in the town and city streets. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 I use the crownies as the royal guard for the king. They would technically be independent of the smaller factions (this is very unlike the way GoT works). The King is "supposed" to forsake his faction when he assumes the throne, and the royal guards/escort are likewise unaffiliated. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 My Crown Knights share a very delicate truce with the Lion knights, born out of years and years of unrest. The Crownies, a smaller faction than the Lions, we're finally bested by the reds after a long and drawn out battle over the Crownies' most prosperous village, a place you all know as the MMV. Once the war had finally ended, the blues found their numbers too far decimated to remain a major power in the realm. They ceded the village to the reds, and have since receded south to their homelands where their diminished numbers can defend its flag and hope to one day rebuild. Love creating the back stories... It started out as a simple homage to the British and the French but became something far greater... Quote

Great way to incorporate the various factions into one, big realm with a shared king. My Crown Knights share a very delicate truce with the Lion knights, born out of years and years of unrest. They had a huuuuge, devastating war over 2 minor buildings? Quote
Acheron Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 In my little backstory the Crownies are a kingdom located in the Northeast corner of the continent, constantly at war to keep the evil forces of undead and monsters contained and from reaching other parts of the continent. They can't really afford to interfere with the matters of other kingdoms. In the meantime, this leaves the Dragon Knights in the Northwest and the Lion Knights in the South to (mostly peacefully) live about their lives, with the occasional minor scuffles between themselves. ....That is, the Lion Kingdom living in happy prosperity while being periodically harassed by the poorer, more rugged Dragon Knights, who have long since decided the pristine bley walls of their neighbors' make excellent testing sites for their newest catapults/weaponry/devices/contraptions. Some of said contraptions may later be sold to the Crownies, who use the new artillery to continue their war against the Undead. It's speculated that the Dragon Knights have really grown fond of the Crownies, ever since the Crownies gifted the the Green Wizard with a little baby dragon they managed to procure somewhere.... Sir Fred Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Wait, what? They had a huuuuge, devastating war over 2 minor buildings? Sounds like some Brikwars style diplomacy right there. For me, the Crownies are the once glorious empire now devastated by political in-fighting desperately trying to regain power, but wars with the undead, the orcs, the Dragon Knights, at one point ninjas, sometimes chasing after the Forestmen for tax evasion... have been really getting in the way. Doesn't do them any favours that somehow my Dragon Knight and Lion Knight armies became much larger than the Crownies' army. Or that the orc and undead armies at this point almost have them outnumbered 2 to 1. To think, only a couple years ago they were by far my largest faction. They're now very much so an alliance oriented faction getting their rivals to fight their battles to weaken them. You know, general boring medieval politics for them. Quote
