Chromeknight Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 "So we collect 3 magic dinner plates and we get a legendary sea monster that will bust down the tower. Where, pray tell, are these amulets?" I wonder if you were listening. He said that we would need to search for them. Perhaps a better question would be, does he have an item which can point us in the right direction in order to find them? Turning to Byverion she said, And why would the council forbid the summoning of a guardian? No doubt they have good reason to do so. What are the consequences for us in performing such an act? Will we be held to account by them? Are we risking unleashing a greater force than Haroka? Quote
Costy Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) "So was that shark-dish I saw in your mansion one of these? And wouldn't it be easier for us to carry them?" Edited November 23, 2012 by Costy Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 23, 2012 Author Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) "The shark amulet was similar to this, yes, Nagure. And you can't just carry the charged amulets out of here. I need to charge them up with all of my energies and they will not be safe for you until they settle down. Once released, I cannot track them, for they would be outside of my control, but I will mark the maps there with the most likely locations for them to have appeared in. A magic compass or something similar may be able to lock on to them, or at least indicate the general vicinity, if one of you has one. I will take full responsibility for the Summoning of a Guardian in an Outside Area, the Council of the Watchful Eye can add it to the list of my so-called misdemeanors. Call me a maverick, will they? I'll live up to that then. As for releasing Kjorfalneire in the first place? It is a risk, but I assure you it is the only way you will be able to break through the Tower's barrier spells. I will work on how to bring it back into my realm once Haroka has been defeated. Now, shall we head to Miranda?" The Maginastra closed his eyes, and a column made up of flashing, blinking lights appeared in the center of the room. He pressed buttons and pulled levers with a gleeful look on his face. "We will get you there in no time at all!" Edited November 23, 2012 by Rumble Strike Quote

"...Please make sure that doesn't go boom." Quote
Etzel Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 "Woaw, woaw woaw, hold on there! You are transporting us with this.. this... what-ever it is? I should tell you that I've had some really bad experience with mystical machines and will certainly not end my days because of one of them if I get to have a say about it. Are you absolutely positive that this is safe and the only way?" Quote
Chromeknight Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Let us not quibble about methods of transport. Likely we have begun travelling already and you have not noticed. I for one am ready to start. The sooner we begin, the sooner Haroka can be stopped. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 "Let's just go, I doubt our friend here has arranged an alternative way of transport, so we don't really have a choice. I don't like it one bit myself, but I cant change anything, I think." Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 Byverion fed the 3 Summoning Amulets into the flashing, whirring console. "There, these will now appear in Miranda for you to collect. By the time you find them they will be safe to use. And this method of travel is also totally safe, my friends. 3 of you have been in here before and suffered no ill effects. Now, I am going to set us down in Miranda, away from the tower." If anyone had been looking in the shady glade, they would have heard a strange pop, and a shadowy shape materialising underneath the canopy of trees. They had arrived in Miranda. "I have marked up a crude map, as promised. Which of you will take it?" They pore over the map, eager to see what was indicated. "I cannot help you from this point on, it is up to you. Try to not raise too much suspicion, find anyone who may oppose Haroka, or has not fallen under the spell of the Darkstar. Rescue Hlin, Vres and Laxadaisi, and take down Haroka once and for all. I wish you well." Where will the party decide to go first? Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Guts took the map. He said sternly: "Let's check out the warehouses first, there may be something in there we can use." Quote
Endgame Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 "Sounds as good of an idea as any. Hopefully, these townsfolk are not too bewithced by that darkstar. If it managed to break heroes' wills, it could certainly break an average citizen's..." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 "That reminds me, let's not act like we are from Heroica trying to destroy General Haroka and whatnot. If anyone asks, we are here to join the general's cause." Quote

What if we meet people who are on the same side as us and maybe knows where to find Hlin and Vres and Laxadaisi? Wouldn't it be better to take a more neutral approach, maybe that we are just travelers passing through the land?" Quote
Costy Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Warehouse sounds good for a start. With all the weapons we have, something tells me we won't pass as travelers. Quote
Endgame Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 "Nagure makes a valid point." "For once." Pipes Syntax from the back of my head. He was not nearly as omnipresnet, but his snark was still there. "Perhaps we should portray ourselves as warriors looking to retire or something?" Quote
Chromeknight Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 (edited) I agree. The warehouses seem as good a place as any to start. Edited November 24, 2012 by Chromeknight Quote

Rumble Strike Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 Carefully, trying not to attract any undue attention despite having a giant Yeti in the party, they made their way from the quiet, gladed area northwards, to where two warehouses stood. At the front of the first one they were accosted by two men, with a horse and cart full of hay. The one driving the cart looks down and sees the party: "Hey, Arphus, what do we got here?" Arphus, carrying a wicked-looking sickle, glared at them "Think they mean to rob us, Boran? You, state your business!" What will the party do? Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) "Not here to rob you. Just passing through. Know anywhere we can get a drink?" Edited November 25, 2012 by Scubacarrot Quote
Endgame Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 "Yep, just looking around for a decent tavern. Know where to find one?" Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) "We were worried you were robbers. Gangs roam these parts now, it's not like it was. A drink you be wanting, then head to the Kitchens. It's one of the few places now with no sense of fear around it." The men seem friendly enough, and don't seem to be under any influences. Does the party wish to talk more to these men? OOC: gah. Using an iPad was hard enough before all these changes, now I can't even get Flickr to work properly. Chromeknight Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Arphus and Boran! Someone leant a lesson about naming NPCs! I am surprised you are worried about being robbed if all you are carrying is hay. Is there a market for stolen hay? Perhaps you have more than hay in that cart. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) OOC: you inspired me, Chromeknight I resisted the urge to make the second one repeat the last words of the first one, but it was close! Boran spoke up. "Don't you get the wrong impression of us just cos we are cautious folk these days. We are simple traders from Havelstam, and there's nought in this cart but hay. You can search it if you don't believe me. We don't want no trouble." Arphus added, "There are many strange folk here in Miranda now, since even before that tower appeared. Talk of a Dark General and his Inquisitors. Scary stuff for ordinary people. Say, why are you passing through? You look like you are a mercenary band or something. And what's with him?" he finished, pointing at Nagure. Edited November 25, 2012 by Rumble Strike Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 "He's my personal bodyguard. Like him? He just loves people that ask nosy and stupid questions." Guts jumps up the cart, making sure the men were speaking the truth about there being nothing in the hay. Quote
Endgame Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 "Hey, even warriors like to take a break and sunbathe on the beach from time to time." I look up towards the Horizon, the daunting frame of the Tyrant's Twoer still visible from here. "So, that tower just... appeared?" Averting my gaze from the horizon, I turn back to see Guts hopping in the cart. "Woah there! Ever heard of asking?" Quote
