Itaria No Shintaku Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Went to a local Target tonight. About 50% out of the 30-40 packs I found and felt were Bikers and Skydivers. But I felt a few of the ones I didn't have. I didn't get them. I couldn't. -Sci You're on the wrong topic, friend :) Quote
Haltiamieli Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) I think the reason they need to resort to garbage like "Mr. Gold" is because series 10 was so weak and, at the same time, the scarcity of some figures has made some customers annoyed. I don't think I've seen particularly much complaining about the weakness of Series 10 compared to earlier series. At least since Series 3 there has always been some who think that Lego jumped the shark with this very series, which is weak, boring and horrible – because it isn't to their taste –, and at the same time people that hail it as the return to shape after previous weak series – because that wasn't to their taste. Personally I think Series 10 is rather good series with some nice complimentary figures to earlier figures (Roman Commander, Sea Captain etc.), some well-executed "normal life" City-figures (Librarian, Painter etc.) and some long-awaited fan favourites (Medusa, Revolutionary Soldier...). All in all probably a step up from Series 9, which while nice too nevertheless included some figures that could have been so much more, like the dull Knight and the recoloured Galaxy Patrol as an alien. It's all in the eye of the beholder. To me Series 11 doesn't sound very promising (more fitting for City and Scifi-builders than Castle people like me, it appears), but I trust that when the pictures emerge I too will find a lot of things to like and appreciate. The Alexandre Boudon concepts have been, so far, a lot better than anything we got. They are wonderful designs - I wish LEGO would stop being so "proud" and just work a deal to use those designs. Well, they did employ him and it's seems clear that quite many CMFs (in addition to the whole cast of Monster Fighters) have since been designed by him or at least have been greatly influenced by his portfolio, like Little Red Riding Hood aka. Grandma Visitor and the genie. I'm sure we'll see more in the future. Edited June 2, 2013 by Haltiamieli Quote

Alcarin Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Its been said many times SEPTEMBER 2013 is the release date of series 11 So we can expect Images around July Id say... Series 11 by names look uninteresting to me completely, but thats mainly since I am Castle/Medieval MOCer/collector Quote

The first picture should be up in a week or two, when the Club Magazine comes out in Europe, like last year. Edited June 3, 2013 by just2good Quote
bekindsorewind Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I was able to get the S8 Diver from Europe by the end of July, so that could even be the earliest we see them this year. And the pictures for Series 8 came out around mid-July so I'd probably expect them then. The first picture should be up in a week or two, when the Club Magazine comes out in Wurope, like last year. Yes... I understand what opinions are like; and I agree with some of your assessments there - I love the Sea Captain, the Medusa, the Librarian... all ones we only go two of. Quote

Series 11 by names look uninteresting to me completely, but thats mainly since I am Castle/Medieval MOCer/collector I am too, so a Barbarian is perfect fitting for the "uncivilized tribes". Also scarecrows are very good for fields. Apart from those, I am interested in Yeti and Tiki Warrior. But the most interesting one seems really the scarecrow. Quote
adventuresinlego Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 What worries me most about Series 11 is 2 things: Not another bloody policemen :( Just the image of them makes me shudder. And Gingerbread Man? OK, I'm not sure how they're gonna do that one but I'm kinda scared of it looking like some scary looking poor excuse for racism. I'm dying for a Nun minifigure. I would collect about 10 of them for MOCs. Quote
Hellbelly Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 And Gingerbread Man? OK, I'm not sure how they're gonna do that one but I'm kinda scared of it looking like some scary looking poor excuse for racism. Could a Gingerbread Man be misconstrued as racist? Now if it were a Gollywog I'd understand. Quote
adventuresinlego Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Could a Gingerbread Man be misconstrued as racist? Now if it were a Gollywog I'd understand. Hahahaha yeah, a golliwog is what I'm picturing it to come out looking like haha if it's in normal shaped minifig pieces (head/arms etc) it'll look like one, if it's a specially molded head and appropriately shaped arms then it won't and should look more like a gingerbread man... can you see why I'm kinda worried here?! lol Edited June 5, 2013 by adventuresinlego Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 It'll be golden brown, not a possibly racist image. LEGO knows better. Case closed. Quote
bekindsorewind Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I'm guessing a molded head will be used for the Gingerbread Man. And between him and the Elf I wouldn't be shocked if we got a candy cane piece as well. Quote
escortmad79 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 What worries me most about Series 11 is 2 things: Not another bloody policemen :( Just the image of them makes me shudder. It'll be a UK constable hopefully like this one or wearing a yellow hi-viz: Helmet will possibly be a recoloured pith helmet And Gingerbread Man? OK, I'm not sure how they're gonna do that one but I'm kinda scared of it looking like some scary looking poor excuse for racism. Really? Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 It'll be a UK constable hopefully like this one or wearing a yellow hi-viz: Helmet will possibly be a recoloured pith helmet I agree with everything you said. I believe a UK constable is more a "national minifigure" like a bavarian girl, than a real cop. Quote
adventuresinlego Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) It'll be golden brown, not a possibly racist image. LEGO knows better. Case closed. Case not closed. No need to be rude about it. And just because it's a british cop doesn't mean I don't want to flush it down the loo. We're all individuals with our own opinions. there's no "case closed" about it. 8BrickMario Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) I'm sorry that I came off as impolite. I just think that, being an international company, LEGO wouldn't produce anything that could cause racial conflict. I was in no way trying to be rude. Edited June 6, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Gremer Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I don't see that post as rude, but whatever. It most likely will be golden-brown, but I don't see why they would need a new mold. I would say a normal minifigure head would be fine. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I've never seen or heard of a gollywog before. With that said, LEGO is made up of blocky characters, so a head or had mold wouldn't look out of place. I think a rounded head would look better, but it would also look better if flattened too. Not sure on favorites, but it should have some good figures. Can't wait for pictures. Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Hmm, a little too "chocolate" looking, but otherwise good. I hope TLG's is more similar to the Gingerbread Man from the Shrek series. Quote
Gremer Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 They look kind of burnt. What are the things on their arms? Pieces of paper? Quote
