Flobnomdob Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 This series is not ranking highly for me; that waitress....urgh Totally agree! But I do like the constable, and the yeti and scarecrow are amazing. Series 6 is still the best in my books. Quote
Jargo Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 The problem with the diner waitress is her hair. It isn't nearly as big and bouffant as it should be and she doesn't have a starched stand up head band. So she doesn't look completely like a diner waitress. Also she seems too mature to be roller waitress. That sort of hairstyle isn't something a younger waitress would wear. The apron being square looks odd too. rounded off corners or just round with a frill would look more fitting. The whole figure looks like two designs were just smashed together and this is what came out. It's neither one thing or another.Perhaps it was a rush job? So if the apron were a different design, the hair were bigger and had a head band and she appeared to be younger it might have worked. As it stands it'll need some swapping of head and hair to look anywhere near right. Although, the hairpiece she comes with will be great for other minifigs in long dresses or airport stewardesses. LipanConjured Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 The Evil Mech and the Blues Brother fellow are two fo the greatest minifigs I've ever seen. I'm not a fan of civilian characters but he's too cool to pass up on. The mountain climber, waitress and the chick with the pretzel are really weak minifigs, but each wave has to have a few. Overall it's a huge improvement from series 10. Quote
escortmad79 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 The "cat lover" aspect of the Grandma really is accurate, since it reminds me so much of my grandma. And it's funny that the cat (and the previous cat, too, I guess) is one of few LEGO animals not to have a stud on it anywhere. (And I'm talking System-scale animals, not Friends.) And just watch someone prove me wrong five times over! Think you'll find a fair few of them DON'T have a stud on them http://www.bricklink.com/browseList.asp?pg=1&itemType=P&catString=147 Quote
Tamamono Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I don't get the hate for the waitress; she doesn't look naked. That's like saying all the characters with cool yellow hair look bald. On the contrary, more colors of torsos is a good thing, even if cool yellow is a bit close to standard bright yellow. Plus, her face is similar to the Alien Conquest reporter's - who had one of the best female faces in a while. The hair is the only thing that isn't absolutely perfect - it's not puffy enough for a 50's diner waitress. However, this gives the hair that much more usability outside of just that one genre. There's also pink rollerskates and (what I assume is new) pink ice cream, which are both great bonuses. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) We haven't seen the waitress's hair from the back yet. The only thing I'm not too keen on is the facial expression. Scarecrows (DC aside) are not alive, so why is this one smiling? Many scarecrows that people actually use have friendly expressions. Scarecrows as Halloween decor or in horror works are scary. I did an image search, and many of them are of the friendlier type. We already have a scary scarecrow. albeit a villainous human dressed as one, so I am happy that this one is friendly. And CMFs of inanimate objects are alive, according to LEGO.. The basket doesn't make much sense with the rest of the figure Cats like baskets. If the cat piece fits in it, that's likely what it's for. Edited September 8, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote

In physical bricks it should be much easier to tell. Quote
AmperZand Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) Now when will they reach the UK? I'm guessing late August/early September. My estimate is based on the time between when S10 first hit the streets anywhere in the world (Hungary) and when they became available in the UK. Also, I believe that S11 is officially slated for September. Edited July 20, 2013 by AmperZand Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) http://www.flickr.co...s/99156425@N03/ Pictures of 9 of the minifigures in the flesh (or should that be plastic?) here. *EDIT* It seems that whoever took the pictures put the skates of the Diner Waitress on the Yeti. He said on Brickset that he is only missing the Tiki Warrior and the Jazz Musician (which is annoying as I want to see them in the flesh/plastic). Edited July 20, 2013 by Star Wars NutJob 69 Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 The scarecrow looks great, again, and the Constable looks even better than the render. Interesting that the blue reflective shine is printed on the Welder's mask. And the Yeti stole the Waitress's customer's ice cream! And her skates! Quote
CM4Sci Posted July 20, 2013 Author Posted July 20, 2013 The Constable's collar says 1337! Made me laugh. -Sci Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Those are great! I don't like the Blacktron mech as much as I originally did, so I'll only pick up one of him. I guess I don't understand what 1337 means...the joke is lost on me. Quote
Haltiamieli Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) Hopefully they will take and upload also pictures of the backsides. I want to see Bavarian Girl's hair piece from behind. So the bobby belongs to JCF... So, err, Jamaica Constabulary Force? Considering the 1337 on his collar it might jokingly refer to Java collections framework? Edited July 20, 2013 by Haltiamieli Quote
just2good Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) Man, those look much better and smoother in the flesh, especially the Scarecrow figure! Scarecrow is now my second favorite... Of course, second only to... Edited July 20, 2013 by just2good Quote
vexorian Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) The Series' Scuba Diver : Hiker. It is yet another sport, the black-red combination looks too dark. Without his accessories I would have not guessed what is he supposed to be. Just Ok (wouldn't mind to find 1 of them) - Barbarian accessories are meh, but the prints, including the face, that one is going to be useful. - Bavarian Woman: Nice details and hair. - Waitress: I don't think her uniform is yellow, it is a different hue than minifig face yellow. Ice cream and skates are welcome. However, that plate is the same as the one the fancy restaurant male waiter has, it would be impossible to pose this girl without the ice cream falling. That piece is terrible, I hate it so much. Why couldn't they add a stud? - Grandma: Useful, plus the cat. - British policeman: Good for collection. Everyone would understand what this figure represents by just looking at it. Must have one of - Scarecrow: I really hope the crow and the hat are not a single brick though. - Man - Cookie : Nice! - "Female" Robot: Specially because series 6 didn't come here, so I didn't get the equivalent. Must have two or more - Blues brother. You need at least two of this guy, obviously. - Blacktron robot: I am not very excited about this figure. I love sci-fi and I like blacktrons , but I think making another blacktron figure would have been better. This robot design does not combine well when put next to the other figures. The weapon is also meh, I would have prefered a pure black CMF laser gun, or a galaxy patrol gun. Actually, if I controlled reality, I would have made them make this guy come with a galaxy patrol gun and trans-yellow binoculars. Now *that*'s a blacktron weapon. But I will need to buy multiples of this guy because of the black armor with blacktron logo. - Yeti: I need one for display, I need some more so I have some popsicles. - Scientist: Need one for display. And more for test tubes. - Tiki: Yep. - Wielder: I need some helmets. - Santa's elf: Santa needs at least three of these guys. Which is tragic because they will most certainly be the rarest figure of the series (many accessories). It will also be very easy to spot even when inside the bag, so every store shall run out of these quick. Edited July 20, 2013 by vexorian Quote
Carousel Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 They certainly look considerably better in real life, I mean, look at the Constable, *swoon* The Blacktron Mech is really growing upon me, and the Scarecrow has quaint quality to it which I quite like. The series as a whole really improves in its non-render form. The Grandma is still a disaster zone, aside from her cat, though. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) I do like the Evil Mech quite a bit more than its predecessor. I like the color scheme, and can't wait to see its head beneath the helmet. And it isn't anime-ish. Edited September 8, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Tamamono Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I think the problem is that the saturation on the infosheet (or at least the scan) is slightly off. It makes the cool yellow less easy to distinguish from the standard yellow. In physical bricks it should be much easier to tell. You could be right, but look at her ankles - it's easy to distinguish the cool yellow from the bright yellow there. And thank you for the pictures, NutJob! I see the Gingerbread man is speckled, making for more accurate gingerbread. Although the Elf doesn't appeal to me, his darker bear with the bowtie is adorable and classy. Love it. Not sure why he gave the Yeti the Diner Waitress accessories without showing a picture of the Waitress herself, though. I agree with the consensus on the Bobby too, fantastic 'fig. They've really outdone themselves with the helmet. Out of all the physical 'figs, though, Scarecrow easily takes the cake - particularly due to the shaping of the hat and the way it goes with the head. A+ design there. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) Yeah, I don't understand the Waitress's no-show. And why the Yeti stole her accessories. The speckles on the gingerbread sort of bother me for some reason. I wonder what color his sandwich-cookie filling is? It would be difficult to paint... And I like her, but what makes the Bavarian Lady your favorite, J2G? Edited July 20, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
just2good Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 And I like her, but what makes the Bavarian Lady your favorite, J2G? I love the hairpiece (even though I haven't seen the back!), the printing on the torso and the legs are great and complimentary to each other, and her face is adorable! She's really the only figure that seems like a "must have" to me in this series, but there's a lot of other great ones! Quote

Onslaught Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) I think the Yeti ate waitress and stole her ice cream I wish to see a picture of Barbarian because he really looks like Conan the Barbarian. Edited July 20, 2013 by Onslaught Quote

Tamamono Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 For some strange reason that bavarian girl reminds me of japanese anime >.< It's not strange at all! Everything from the smile to the skirt to the hair tied back says "school anime" loud and clear. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I think I like the Gingerbread Man now. He's cute and interesting, and the speckles aren't too bad. I do want a side view of his head, though. Just look at him! Quote
