How cheap and selfish are you? Scott Honestly I really can't stand that method either. I've seen so many times where I see "grown" people walk out of stores with a minifigure box or two, then 20min later I see a kid and parent walk up to the minifigures stand only to see nothing there. Looking disappointed, the only thing the parent can say is "maybe next time" This has also happened to me and my son. As I was walking in I seen an older man with "3" boxes and there we're non left in the isle or back room. My son was crushed since he likes helping me feel for figures or just picking random packets with me. Some of you "old folks" should be ashamed of yourselfs if you really think about it :/ Back on topic: I love series 10 so far. The tomahawk warrior is my favorite :) Quote

Yooha Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 How is it possible that you can bring back the minfigs without any justified complain or something? For me it is so unfair that you can bring them back , saying "thanks for letting me search for the right minifigs for free, making yourself impossible to sell the remaining figs for other customers while they were at my home!" If you need a fig, take your time in the shop, but don't do damage to other people! Quote

Nagyzee Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 He's not the only one. Good to know my method's working for others! -Sci Is this somehow considered okay to do in the US? To me it sounds like abusing the return system and also very unfair to all the rest of the buyers. Quote

TheLegoDr Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I'm pretty sure any unopened (and sometimes opened) products are able to be returned to the big box stores here in USA. I've returned minifigures before because I had duplicates. I felt them in the store, bought them, refelt them at home and realized I made a mistake and returned the extra one (verifying with dots). It's unfortunate, but since the return policy is there, people are free to use it. If I wanted to dump that much money on minifigures in one go, I probably would do the same. I can understand the disappointment, since I've experienced it many times before. The thing is, most people probably did this before Mr. Gold ever existed and still searched for the figures they wanted. How else do you get large armies? Might as well feel through them at your house instead of standing like a doofus at the store. I sound like I am sticking up for these people, but since it is not illegal to do it, then more power to them. I've been disappointed before, but I've also helped many people find what they were looking for also. Kind of level karmic playing field, I guess. I have yet to see any 10 around here and I've been looking for weeks since some people got them well before May 1st. Here it is after May and I haven't seen them near me, but I haven't been to all the stores. I probably won't find Gold only because I am not being proactive about it. I don't really care in the long run. Although, that money could buy lots more LEGO... Quote
AmperZand Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 @Scott, CM4S, vriverajr3, Yoha, Alcarin, Nagyzee and The_Creator, Variously, you are making false assumptions leading some of you to ad hominem criticisms. A few facts: 1. The staff at the store knew my intentions and have known for over a month. They ordered an extra box for me on top of the number they had originally planned. When I return the few minifigs my friends and I don't want, it should take the store's stock *above* the quantity they had forecasted. 2. In any event, the store most likely won't be running out of S10s. They have been selling S8s and S9s uninterrupted since those series came out. It is highly unlikely they will run short of S10s. 3. The store isn't in a residential neighbourhood, near any schools or otherwise in an area where there are lots of kids. I doubt a single kid was deprived of S10s because of my actions. The adults who buy for kids from that store don't look like they're on missions to get minifigs; they look like they are making impulse purchases. If, somehow, a kid didn't get an S10 as a result of my actions, it almost certainly wasn't a minifig they had expected and therefore not a disappointment. 4. There are other stores within short walking distances that also sell minifigs. 5. I will be returning some minifigs to the store. I could sell them online for a profit but will forego that profit allowing others to buy them from the store I got them from at the RRP. 6. The store is not in the US. It's in the UK. Amps Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 This discussion is turning ugly. Let's get back on topic with the actual contents of the series instead of the methods of acquiring them. The ethics of minfig buying has been discussed ad nauseum. It always starts little tiffs and sometimes name calling. The bottom line is, it's tiresome. This has been going on for ten series now, people have figured out how they want to acquire them. Leave each to their own devices. So, talk about the actual contents of Series 10 now. Which minifigs surprised you with how much you liked them? Which ones didn't meet your expectations? Quote

They gave the MM the mohawk, the Tomahawk Warrior the Warrior Woman's spear, and vice versa, they gave Medusa the 2007 Poison Ivy's legs, showed bird poop on the Sea Captain's legs, and left the TW bald! I don't like the Mechanic either. He's just ugly, which, IMO, is worse than being a boring dud of the series. I love your new signature. You've got a lot of time on your hands spriting S10s! Now try to tackle Medusa, if you think you can! Edited May 4, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote

8BrickMario Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I never said by LEGO, but they were mistakes in the preliminaries the world saw. LEGO released nothing, EB did, but those were still the prelims we saw. Quote
TrumpetKing Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I never said by LEGO, but they were mistakes in the preliminaries the world saw. LEGO released nothing, EB did, but those were still the prelims we saw. They aren't really preliminaries then, especially when you consider that the designs weren't different from what were really released, other than a changing of the accessorie's location. And the bird poop was made clear that it was a photoshopped version of the paintball player's leg. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Got mine today, came up with two complete series and as much of spares among Medusae, Romans, etc. I would add to the discussion that I read, over the various forums (apart from here, also brickset and other ones), that staff from various shops are feeling the bags in order to find Mr.Gold and putting it on ebay. Actually, where I got mine and in other shops, every shopkeeper knew about Mr.Gold and its ebay price and ensured me that none where in the boxes. After this, my hope in getting one is lowered to zero. I'm just wandering shops with closed boxes to open them (I already did this trice), that's the only chance to get Goldie. Quote
305Bats Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I think it's safe to assume that unless you see a box being opened in front of you, most packs will have already been searched by collectors or employees. Quote
TrumpetKing Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I may try that light method today, if I can find a Fred Meyer near me with them. I'm not really looking for Mr. Gold, I don't feel like I need him, but it would be nice to have him. I plan on hopefully finding a Medusa, Grandpa, Trendsetter, and Decorator. Quote
