8BrickMario Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) Nope, I pride myself on my feeling skills. I felt a lot of circular bald caps....The box I felt was opened in front of me, so I think it was fresh from the factory. I know enough not to judge a minifigure by a common piece, like the Grandpa and Librarian, or Librarian and Trendsetter. I search for definitive pieces. Edited April 26, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Daniel-Technic Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Found some in the south of the UK today in WH Smith. Could not feel them as right on counter and were handed out by staff, (Which is unusual.) but I got five random ones. Annoyingly when I got home and opened them I have three Grandfathers, One Roman Commander and One Biker/Mechanic Guy. I mean THREE Grandfathers out of five random bags, that is not really very random is it? Where about in south? Quote
TheLegoDr Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 If the only way to buy these were blind (as in not feeling) I probably wouldn't buy any, or I would buy a whole bunch, feel at home and then return them. Granted you may end up buying the same bag multiple times doing it that way. So if they were handing them out at the counter, that is odd, although it sounds more legit than the feel method. I love the feel method and I hope that will always be available, but if the theft or opening packets continues, it may head down that way. As far as distribution, it's tough to say since each state has different population so different stores may get different amounts, so multiplying by 50 states is tricky. Although I'm sure the states do get a higher percentage comparatively. All I know is most of the stores around me didn't get in series 9, so who knows how many series 10 will be available around here. Quote
peterab Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Series 9 was the same as a 60 box, but divided by two. I would imagine a 30 box would be the same. Thanks for that, I was hoping there was a better way of accessing some of the rarer figs. I'm a little sad that the distribution has been changed so dramatically. I liked that you used to get three full sets in a 60 box. Since I'm more interested in the city figs the new distribution makes it harder for me. I understand why the change happened but wish the aim of supporting army builders could have been achieved a little differently. I would have liked to see at least three of each figure, and then four or five of obvious army builders. In army builders I'd also include team sports. Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) Gave DPCI to a worker, they brought out the box. I snuck a quick video and got busted. Wasn't a major deal, though. Grabbed two packs, expect a video up by Sunday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9OO12wqtfQ These were found in southern Minnesota. Yay! -Sci Edited April 27, 2013 by CM4S Quote

Itaria No Shintaku Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Please, please, please use the Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability topic to discuss about where you can find the minifigures. You're flooding this topic where there is one just for that one. Quote

The reason they keep them behind the counter is that they get half inched. If it's a quiet time of day and you look OK, the staff will probably let you feel through the bags if you ask. The WHS staff at the branch near my office even let me take the box away from the counter, though they don't have S10 yet. Quote
MicroJow Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Last night, I searched through a box at Toys-R-Us which had already been rooted through and felt a gem piece. I nearly hit the floor! And there was the light saber piece! And then I felt... a 1X2 brick? Turned out someone had bought some figures, cut the package open beneath the flap on the back, removed the figures, and replaced them with random parts. Then, they glued the back flap shut and returned them. I'm on a mobile at the moment, but when I get to a computer, I'll post photos. - MJ Quote

Daniel-Technic Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Found series 10 at Tesco last night where it is quieter, they have 2 box, one open, one unopened on top of shelf. Checked open box before I asked a staff for unopened box, asked her again if i could buy whole sealed box, she say yes only if I open it and put contents in basket and took the box as well. Got 2 set of 16 minfigs plus a few extra. Got 4 roman commander as well. Swapped a set with a dozen of series 1 and 2 from my friend. No gold man, I think it's a bit unfair it a low 5000 figs. I heard from my source from tesco that someone got sacked for opening boxes in back store and went through the lot before putting it out front. If this is happening across the world, once someone find out about gold man and ebay, they will strip all the boxes, leaving nothing for real lego fan. So upset, unhappy and unfair. Daniel. Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 2 packs??????????? Didn't have enough time. -Sci Quote
305Bats Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 FYI,the Roman's sword along with the Warrior Woman's shield look great on Wonder Woman! Regarding Mr. Gold,if LEGO really wanted something special for series 10,they should've randomly inserted 10 "Golden Tickets" like Willy Wonka did, with the prize being an all expenses paid trip to the LEGO factory. I know enough not to judge a minifigure by a common piece, like the Grandpa and Librarian, or Librarian and Trendsetter. I search for definitive pieces. The bald cap is quite easy to mistake for the skydiver's helmet. The easiest piece for the Grandpa is the 2x2 tile. If there indeed were that many Grandpas in that box then they screwed up filling that one correctly big time. Quote
8BrickMario Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 (edited) I know the helmet piece well. I felt a lot of domes with a rough texture on one side, not the crash helmet. I may be wrong, but I am fairly certain I got of box with a lot elderly men...that sounded odd! Edited April 28, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Anybody else notice really loose legs on the Tomahawk warrior? I have 4 and every single one has noticeably loose legs on the waist assembly. Strange... Quote
Wardancer Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I bought a few warrios ladies, a medusa and a revolutionary soldier yesterday. I just reached into the box and the first three figs I felt were 2 warrior ladies and the medusa. Nice. Somehow I must have overlooked that the warrior ladies' spear is dark brown and not reddish brown. Anyway, the torso is great. Everytime I felt the painters bucket my heart jumped because I thought it to be Mr Golds Hat! Quote
Alcarin Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 While I can understand why you wouldn't consider Mr. Gold a part of Series 10 proper (I do because he is a part of the group picture on top of the box,) you cannot deny that he is a part of the Collectible Minifigures Series as a whole. That would be like saying the Toy Soldier that comes with the book is not a part of the series because it doesn't come in a blind bag. And excuse me, "instant gratification?" I wouldn't call searching 700+ packets as "instant" anything. The whole series is designed around searching for the ones you want and not getting ANYTHING instantly. I was bemoaning the fact they made, in my opinion, far too few of a figure which many would consider as part of a series where we are encouraged to "collect them all." - MJ Look you can argue what part of whole series is or not but to me CMF series 10 = what is seen on the paper you get with it... 16 minifigures as always... there is NO Mr. Gold there so I consider him like a prize for lucky people... Toy Soldier is not part of CMF series 10 or 9 or 8 him and Goldy can be part of CMF but then so can be EVERY minifigure... since any LEGO figure is COLLECTIBLE (which is what CMF means) If they would add 20 tickets to LEGOLAND for free as prize throughout CMF would you say thats part of CMF or a prize Which is exactly what Goldy is... A PRIZE Quote

AmperZand Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Anybody else notice really loose legs on the Tomahawk warrior? I have 4 and every single one has noticeably loose legs on the waist assembly. Strange... Do you mean a loose connection between the legs and torso or do you mean the articulation at the hip? Either way, you can use satin coat to tighten/stiffen them; the only difference is where you apply it of course. I have had good results with other minifigs using Humbrol. I haven't got my hands on any S10s yet so can't comment specifically on the Tomahawk Warrior. Quote

The_Creator Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Looks like there's about 12 Mr. Golds on eBay, ones on bidding ranging from $305USD to $610USD, it'll be interesting to see what they all end up going for. Quote

Only idiots would pay 1000 Euro or 1200 usd like they did for those first two. Consider there are 5000 !!!! of them. Lego cans or dioramas from convents are in price range from 70 to 300 usd (where they were limited to 500-1000) Yoda (only 150 made) goes up to 1000usd but considering amount it's understandable. Hrw-Amen Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 What's the point of buying this way? Mainly because I want to collect them and they are the only store selling in my area of town, As such it is either buy then there or direct from LEGO Shop online! Usually the box is in a place that you can feel them but for some reason this time they have kept them out of the way of feelers. Quote
