TrumpetKing Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) I'm thinking of seeing if my local Target has finally put these on shelves tonight.... The website says they're in stock, but nothing has been put on shelves yet. If they have them I might as well look for Mr. Gold. Also, what's the DCPI # for these at Target? I can't find it on the thread, but I know it was posted.. Edited June 16, 2013 by TrumpetKing Quote

TrumpetKing Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Thanks, CM4S! That was quick! I'm crossing my fingers I can find some tonight! Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Cross your fingers! It will very likely be picked over... Quote
TrumpetKing Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I'm kind of hoping that they don't have them, so I can ask customer services to pull put a fresh box Quote
vexorian Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 They arrived here. Although I am not paying much attention to them because Series 9 and 10 arrived at the same time. And there is a high probability that series 9 has fewer boxes available. Plus series 9's figures have a better variety, to be honest. I did get a Bee costume and two Warrior Women. I don't notice a worse cheap feeling than previous series. Quote
Csacsa234 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I finally picked up my 1st collectibleminifigures, to begin with I bought 3 and I got 2 paraachute guy and one baseball player. Iam retty disappointed, these are the most uninteresting figs of this wave, I wish one of them could have been Medusa Quote
Super Goblin Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Medusa is the easiest to find, the bag is big and puffy because of her tail. Picked up a bumble bee and of course I had to turn it into a zombie. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Csacsa234 - I assume you bought random bags then? I agree Medusa is the easiest and the hardest to find. She's so easy, she is probably picked clean from every box, therefore making her hard to find (plus she's only 1 or 2 per box of 30 or 60 respectively). I ended up buying extras of Medusa to hopefully sell later since she was harder to find. Naturally I would've made more money if I didn't buy them instead of selling them. I didn't get above MSRP, so it was a waste. Oh well.. But back to the post, the baseball player is easy to feel because of the hand. The parachuter is a little trickier, only because at first it may be odd feeling the helmet or the backpack. I kept questioning what I was feeling at first until I remembered it was him. I would never buy randomly. If you actually want a specific figure, there is no reason to randomly purchase. If you don't care, then random would be fun. Quote

Hey Joe Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Hey! It's a ZomBEE! I got this whole series last week and it's one of my favorites. The whole Mr. Gold thing puts me off so much that I kinda considered stopping buying the CMFs, but... Joe Quote
DrLegostar Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Went to Toys R Us today, they had something like 7 boxes sitting out, mostly full. Not sure if they'd been gone through, but I've already got the ones I wanted and Mr. Gold just isn't doing anything for me. Picked up an extra Trendsetter and painter though, just cause they were doing buy one get one 50% off. Quote
BeardedNerdSE Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I bought 12 random figures off Lego S@H and got Mr Gold in one of them. He was promptly sold on Ebay, and the proceeds are now funding the entire summer series of LotR (yeah, it could have been more if I didn't pay Swedish prices for some of it). It's a bit sad how even tiny local shops know about it, so there's pretty much no way to find one in the wild, unless you get to open a new box and get lucky. I've thought about ordering another few figures off Lego, but what are the odds of getting him again? Quote
Zzz Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I've thought about ordering another few figures off Lego, but what are the odds of getting him again? Like 2 x straight flush in the same game I would say. Is anyone else also a little disappointed with the Roman not having the nice silver helmet anymore? I feel a little cheated by TLC, as on the promo and package pics he looks as if he has the same color and finally getting one it looks cheaper in the grey-ish color in person. Quote
Jargo Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) Just bought: Bumblebee Girl Decorator Motorcycle Mechanic Skydiver Paintball Player Still need: Trendsetter Grandpa Librarian Sea Captain My budget is incredibly tight so I've had to limit myself to only City based minifigs. I also got the Plumber, chicken suit guy and Judge from series 9 while I saw them. EDIT: The decorator is now one of my all time favourite minifigs. Despite the printing on his torso being a bit thin and his leg connections being a bit loose, he's just perfect. I see now though what people are saying about the different plastic from China. You can see it straight away. I hadn't noticed it on any other minifgs bt it's so noticeable on series 10. Even so, Chinese Lego is still much better quality than any clone brand. So I can live with it. Edited July 3, 2013 by Jargo Quote
TrumpetKing Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Wow. This topic died a while ago. Sorry to bump such an old topic... Anyways, I was able to finish Series 10 today, so I figured I'd give my thoughts on each figure, starting with my least favorite. 1. Motorcycle Mechanic- I really dislike this figure, to be honest. I think what bugs me is his face. I love the torso and legs, but the face just isn't doing it for me. I really don't like the face at all, and the faces are something I really look for in minifigures. I also just find him boring compared to the others. 2. Baseball Fielder- It's not that he isn't a good figure, because he is. In fact, he's actually a pretty good idea. However, I just have no need for him, and if I weren't a completionist, I would probably have skipped him. He's a perfectly executed figure but he just lacks the pizzazz that some of the figures that stood out to me have. 3. Sad Clown- Yes, go ahead and hate me for not liking him. I just find him boring. He's a clever idea, and the hat is great, but nothing really interests me about him. I think the rather shortage of printing is what bugs me. But that's just me. 4. Skydiver- Believe it or not, he was one of my favorites when pictures were released. And while he's low on my list, he's not as bad as everyone seems to make him appear, I think.I don't have a use for him, but he's still a cute little figure. 5. Paintball Player- This is an OK figure. He's better than some, but he's not as good as a lot of the series, in my opinion. The gun is great, though. The suit is alright, but there's something about it that just seems.... off... Regardless, I also was confused as to why the helmet was black. I personally would have preferred it in grey, but that's my opinion. 6. Tomahawk Warrior- I was originally NOT looking forward to this figure, but now that I have him, I think he's a nice little addition to the series, though I wish there weren't so many warriors and soldiers in this series. The mohawk is wonderful to see released in yet another color (we've seen Magenta(?), Lime Green, and Black). I like the two different tattoos on the arm as well. The face is certainly interesting but I don't have a use for it. I really dislike the legs though. I like the loin cloth, but why not make his legs yellow then? I think LEGO was trying to avoid controversy there. 7. Bumblebee Girl- Another figure that I was pretty impressed with, despite not liking the original pictures. I was a bit surprised to see that the helmet was a rubbery piece. The bucket is amazing, as are the wings. The head is alright, but it's great for kid figures. I think the main problem I have with the figure is that the torso and leg printing looks a little off to my eyes in particular, but it's still a nice figure, even if the suited figures are a bit pointless. 8. Warrior Woman- Yet another pleasant surprise figure. The shield is amazing. The spear is alright, but I'm not a fan of the gold tips, though I like it a little better than the entirely gold spear. The hair she has is nice to see in black, but I noticed that mine is actually a little loose. The face looks alright, but it also looks a little uncomfortable. The outfit is definitely something I wasn't expecting, but looks pretty good. I do prefer the torso more, though. 9. Librarian- I had a bit of a tough time deciding between this one and number 10 on my list. The book is very cute, and the whole story behind it is great as well, but the problem is how white the edges get when opened, similar to that of the Guitar Case. Perfect hair, though it isn't one that really screams "Librarian" to me. Perhaps the bun would have been a good choice as well. The cup is cute, but I'm getting a bit tired of seeing cups, as well as those "skater" helmets. They've bee showing up in CMF's pretty frequently lately. The other thing I feel when I see the figure is that without the accessories, she's just a nerd girl, so I feel like the figure has to rely on the accessories to look like a Librarian. 10. Revolutionary Soldier- This was another very, very pleasant surprise. I was left rather bored with this figure by pictures but when I got my hands on him I had a hard time putting him down. The wig is phenomenal, and I honestly expected it to be soft plastic, when it's a very great quality harder plastic. I love the bow in the back as well. The uniform, while simple, is top-notch. It's nice to finally get my hands on the older musket. How I missed it, I have no idea. Great fig. 11. Decorator- I have always lived this figure. Why, I have no idea. He's just a great one. The overalls are done well, but I feel like they were painted on a little lightly, or they have a grey-ish tint from the torso on them. The paint roller is great as well, and it does bend slightly, even though it's a hard plastic piece, but I don't mind it at all. The only major problem is that I feel like this is the figure where I really noticed the quality of the Chinese plastic. 12. Roman Commander- This little guy was down low on my lists as well. What was I thinking?! Very strong member of the series, with plentiful detail. The torso looks a little... metallic... as well, which is actually a cool detail. A lot of people complained that the helmet wasn't painted to look shiny. To be honest, it doesn't really bug me. I still think it looks great. The only complaint I have is the weird forehead wrinkles, which are totally natural, and that doesn't even matter since they're covered anyways. 13. Sea Captain- A cool little figure. I'm so happy he got arm printing, even though it wasn't even necessary. The hat is oddly enough, basically a smoother version of the new police cap from Series 9. This figure is everything I'd have expected him to be and more, and he deserves this spot. The seagull is also top notch, though it is a bit rubbery. 14. Medusa- When I first got this figure, I had no interest in it. The only reason I was buying her was so I didn't have to worry about not being able to find a rare and popular figure later. I don't even know why, since I had a Medusa on my wishlist a while back. Needless to say, it made it to my Top 3 of the Series. I have absolutely no use for this figure, but it's just so adorable with it's two faces that I can't help but love it. The torso and tail are printed wonderfully as well. I don't know what I'll do with the hair, but when I thought of Medusa, the did the hair exactly how I hoped, so I'll have to find a use somehow. 15. Grandpa- I had also been hoping for a Grandpa, and I can't think of a better way to do this. The face s great, and while the hair looks a little odd at times, it's a genius piece. The overalls were done fantastically, and I love how they fave him a gut and actually continued to make him look fat in his back printing. The newspaper looks great too, but the cup is kind of boring. Still a great figure. 16. Trendsetter- I don't even know what the point of this figure is, or why we needed it, but I love it and am happy that we got it. I have so much usage for this figure. The phone and chihuahua are great, and the hair is one of my favorite pieces of the series, though it does cover up a bit of the face. The outfit is easily one of my favorite female outfits as well. The face is a bit hard to use with other hairs, but I've also found a few that do work, which is great. I just don't have enough to say about how much I love this figure. Overall, this series is strong, but I do like other series better. This series did have a lot of AMAZING figures that exceeded my expectations when pictures were released though, which is great as well. I'm fairly pleased with this series. Quote

They haven't just kept it up; they've actually updated it (note the place to enter game codes, which only just debuted with Series 12, the series for which they created the new site), and yet they also have this new redesign at the same time. Speaking of which... The CMF site has been redesigned and Mr. Gold was eliminated. Interesting.... http://www.us.lego.com/en-us/minifigures/characters If it were just Mr. Gold, I'd assume they eliminated him for something having to do with his not being a "regular" figure, but instead this ultra-rare character who doesn't fit into a classic character role / archetype, unlike all the others from all the numbered series. It's not just him, though - the Series 8 Conquistador is missing from the new site, as well. Quote
Venkefedo Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 The Conquistador is still listed in the "My Collection" section for Series 8, however... Quote
Robert8 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 And his bio is available through the Series 8 page, while Mr. Gold's isn't. Quote
