DraikNova Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Damn. I was hoping this was just a rumor. Oh well, better than having one of the sixteen being extra-rare. Quote
Faefrost Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 If there's a gold figure in each box, that'd be fine with me, as it guarantees I'll get one, and I think at that rate that most AFOLs will be able to get one. If they just throw out "X" number of them randomly, then I'm not happy. With all the tens of thousands of dollars I spent on LEGO in the past decade, and I've never gotten a single one of these "chasers," it's kind of annoying. I don't think that there have ever been any chasers for you to get, prior to this? Maybe one "find the real gold C3PO" once years ago? Quote

There was also the white metal Krana-Kal in the Bohkrok-Kal pods, way back when. And I'm shocked that this wasn't posted yet: And full resolution here: http://images1.wikia...GITSeries10.jpg Was this photo taken through a window on a rooftop or something? Shady as heck. Quote

DraikNova Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Because pictures weren´t allowed at all there. Let´s hope we get a picture from the Nuremberg toy fair soon. Quote

I don't think we will get any pictures of these from Nuremberg or New York, as the Toy Fairs never seem to showcase future series of Collectable Minifigures for some reason. Midnight Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I am really looking forward to getting these minifigures. I especially like the Revolutionary Soldier and Roman Officer, and just hope that when I buy a full box of 60 minifigures the new distribution will help me out, and give me a decent 6 of each. Though I am not at all fussed by this 'Golden Minifigure' unless I can sell it for $50 and buy other sets. Quote

alesco83 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 what if who finds the golden minifigure wins a free visit to a Lego facility like in "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"? : D Quote

Personally I hate the idea of the gold minifigures as fir me there is no use Quote
fattoler Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 A baseball fielder? Ah well I guess the cricketer will turn up in lucky 13... Quote
DraikNova Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I think the Oompa Loompa's will probably be short-legged minifigures . Quote

Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I wonder when we will get a good view of the minifigures in this series (including this mystical Golden Minifigure). If this series is coming out in May, it surely can't be too long before that first picture of a high quality arrives online for the world to see. Quote
gedren_y Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 It shouldn't be long. I just went to the Lego Shop page for the Collectable Minifigs Series 9 and it lists them as retiring soon. Quote
Jargo Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) Speaking of sporty types, I'd quite like to see a snorkeller. kinda like the surfer dude with bermuda shorts with some mad design on them and the snorkel mask and air tube attaching to the minifig hair then some flippers in a colour we've not had before. And a lobster as the accessory. Yes I know this isn't a wishlist thread but I think with all the coast guard sets and the other water based CMF's (14 by the time of series 10 being released) the next place to go would be snorkelling. A snorkel mask attaching to hair would have been better for the series 1 diver. Only being able to attach one to a helmet is very limiting. Edited February 16, 2013 by Jargo Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I'll definately be needing 3 Roman Officers to join my Emperor, his 8 Legionnaire minions and two matched pair of Gladiators! It's a small empire, but it's growing! Quote
Black Llama Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Ugh, the Golden Mini is going to kill me. I have a "complete" set of the CMF figures so far (including the team GB ones, and I don't even like the Olympics...). I can see these easily being scalped for a few thousand dollars on eBay already. It's a super smart move from Lego sales wise. As someone like me, I usually go out and buy 20 bags once they are out, figure out which ones I need and then buy the remainder from Bricklink. The question is, do you spend a ton of cash on mini's and end up with a few hundred extra, or just budget a grand or two aside for a single figure. Quote

I don't think they would be that expensive after market. The Comic con Super Hero exclusives didn't hit anywhere near those numbers at half the distribution run of the gold CMF's. so unless the gold ones come with a really special code(" Lego mailing the owners their very own OompaLoompa ") I con't sit them hitting truly grotesque prices. They will more likely be hovering somewhere around "obscene". Quote
TheLegoDr Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I can't imagine multiple thousands for one golden figure..unless it was actual gold. Then I don't know what the actual value would be. But I agree, the Comic-Con figures are only a few hundred most of the time. Sometimes you can find a good deal on one though. Quote
LibraryBoy Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I'm a librarian (hence the screen name), and I can tell you that the librarian/girl nerd/whatever is likely to be very popular in library circles. I know an awful lot of colleagues who own that Nancy Peal shushing librarian action figure! Quote
Black Llama Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I'm just speculating. The Comic Con ones are Super Hero based, which is a line with a more limited appeal than the CMF line (at least in my humble opinion). The 2011 CC Lego's are selling (actually selling) for $1200 for a set of 3. Now imagine that the entire world is trying to get their hands on 1 of 5k gold mini's that will be packed. Packed is the key word, who knows how long it will take for all 5k of them to be found. If I see one going for under a grand I'll jump on it as soon as it posts :D Quote

If I see one going for under a grand I'll jump on it as soon as it posts :D I'd say the Super Hero figs have far MORE aftermarket appeal than the CMFs, since they can appeal to both FOLs and non-FOL fans of the characters who appreciate the figures for their novelty. Part of the reason licensed figs are distributed at Comic-Con is because they are more likely to appeal to the average attendee than, say, a minifigure of Johnny Thunder, Pepper Roni, or Lloyd Garmadon, or even an unnamed minifigure. On the whole, AFOLs are not the only target of these figures; their intent is to generate interest in LEGO among people who otherwise might think of it only as a kids' toy or novelty. A golden minifigure will not have nearly this same appeal to non-FOLs, any more than the exclusive BIONICLE masks appealed to AFOLs who weren't fans of BIONICLE. And thus I fully anticipate demand for them being lower than the Comic-Con figs. Quote
