racers are too small and city trucks are too big!

we may not like it but surely lego has its reasons :-/

Honestly, I like the larger 6-8 wide trucks. They seem to be more in proportion to the typical minifig. The problem of course, is that the roadways haven't increased in size. What we really need are 48x48 baseplates with wider roadways to accomodate these larger vehicles. The old 32x32 plates simply don't fit with the vehicles LEGO is giving us.

48x48 roadplates?? 8-wide trucks??

A kid has not all this space available in his room!!!

Big sets are funny to build and to play, but if you want to keep a little city, now you must have a very big table!! This is a problem for both kids and afols... where can you put the bridge transport truck, or the new big airplanes?

I think City should come back to smaller size: 4-wide cars and 6-wide trucks (6-wide vehicles were already introduced in the old town theme). 8-wide trucks are realistic but ridiculous if compared to buildings (as phoinix has noticed, they can't enter the gas station...)! If TLG had to sell a trainstation scaled to these trucks, it should be huge and very very expensive!!

So, this is a toy... maybe kids find bigger things more interesting, but I think there are other ways to attract their attention. For example giving them the possibility to build a little city layout, as I used to do when I was a kid. But how can they do this if:

1) the airport doesn't have roadplates and the current ones are too small for the airplane

2) the 8-wide trucks are too big for the roadplates and are greater than the buildings

3) the firestation doesn't connect to roadplates

4) miniturbos and tuner garage are too small to put them in the layout

...and so on

All these sets are "stand-alone", "build and play toys", where's the old spirit of Legoland where all the sets were part of the same system??

We have the etrenal problem of scale. A truck in a good proportion to the minifig is not minifig-scaled for me, it has to be a little smaller. 6-wides is the biggest for a minifig-scaled truck.

Lego Amaryl, I'm with you!

I dunno Hobbes, with those holes on the side, I'd be inclined to believe that it's just a prelim design and that it'll be more pieces in the final product. At least I hope so...there's no reason to make it just one *sad*

No, the creator sets were always sold without any minifigs.

But i agree, the set claims to have at least two minifigs (one for the house and one to get the car moving ;-) )

But we know where to get these figs, don

well the same torso is shown in the catalog so i guess this is the finall one.

and im sorry to say that this looks like one piece!

and it dosent look like solid plastic but it looks a bit softer...like a sponge(?)

lets just hope and see.. :-/

But this can be made from existing pieces, it takes more new moulds to make it one *wacko*

Well you can make the middle section from a bunch of these, which I just discovered now, but I don't believe you can make the angled front and back part while maintaining the nice slick smoothness. Basically, it will look terrible.

If I am mistaken I am sorry, and I would love to be enlightened with a brilliant building technique.

"Your" piece is 4x8 and two would make 8x8 which is too big. But we've had a cement mixer in the past:

Ooew. That tank is 6x6? The brick-built theory is shattered. (Speaking slickly smooth like before, of course)

But we've had a cement mixer in the past:

The retro feel is nice (WOW, a door :'-) ) but the tank is unfortunately way to small.

I also think that dragon is a pimped version of that crap Dino Line with new parts !! Its really crappy !!

*yoda*

I thought this too when I looked at the earliest pictures, but now....

(thanks for the link, sam89)

I have to say that I think this is the best looking large-pieces-builded creature since they

On the Y-Wing, they had to put the Astromech droid sideways, because they are 4studs wide, and to fit on on the Y-Wing the ship would need a 'neck' at least 6 studs wide to hold it -which would be much too wide for this scale.

Doing it sidways lets the ship be better proportioned, I think its a good design tradeoff.

From the Pics, that Cement mixer piece does look... odd, the surface being all rough looking, so Im hoping its a prototype...

Of course like you say.. the big question is wether the final ver will be 1piece or not...

Going to be stuck with 1 giant spaceSHIP engine if they dont break it up...

I had a second look at the pics right now and stumbled across the mars mission pics.

Yeah, i know, there has been another thread, but when i read "new mars mission pics" on the main page, i firstly did not want to read that for i feared the worst! :-X

But there is ONE good set, however: 7692 (Does it have a name already?)

This spaceship reminds me of the "Orca" helicopter of the Command & Conquer series! *wub*

But this set needs revision of the colour sheme (like all of the other mars mission sets do).

I will have to wait till the instruction becomes available and THEN i will try to build it in other colours.

Hi everyone,

To clarify some points :

- the minifig front of the tan house is from the harbor set. It was here only to show the scale of the house.

- the ciment truck part is in fact two parts BUT it is a prototype part, which is created into a kind of material cut by laser (I believe) .It is the same material than the kit fisto head. So these parts are not the final ones.

- the hihgway toll comes indeed with the ramps and pushing devices. The tank of the white truck goes off, when a car jumping from a ramp hits the trailer :)

- the green baseplate is not a part of the calendar :)

- the only price we asked at the show was for the technic bulldozer : 150 euro (for 1355 parts)

Hmmmm perhaps its because it wont balance when its in it :-/ Then again its probably just the lego rep being lazy.

Lego beeing lazy ?? When did that happen ?? :-D :-P

I have a strange fgeeling that the JSF won't be well balanced on that Hyper drive ring !! The real question is this one: will it fall apart when swooshed ?? And my guess is NO *wacko*

*yoda*

Well when toyfair usa comes along i expect to see it in the booster ring with some very well positioned trans clear parts to hold it still :-|

And as for swooshing we can get TT to answer that as im told hes the swoosh master :-P ;-)
