December 9, 201212 yr reinforces my opinion that both these sets are parts sets with bonus minifigs...
December 9, 201212 yr Not entirely sure what you want, but I suppose these'd cover it... This is crying out to be MOC'd into a larger Rancor Pit. Thanks for the great review. Looks like an amazing set. Edited December 9, 201212 yr by Another Brick In The Wall
December 9, 201212 yr Author Out of curiosity, how tall is the throne room/pit when they are connected? (not the tower) Heights: Pit only (without alignment pyramids): 147 mm Palace only (without tower): about 164 mm Tower: 252 mm Pit + palace: 311 mm Pit + palace + tower: 399 mm
December 9, 201212 yr Great review! You are lucky to get this set so early. I am not very impressed with this set really. Minifigs are the only selling point here. Although it is great that you can combine these two sets they look wierd when combined in my opinion. I don't like how the sides of the floor of palace stick out. But I will still probably get this set because I like Jabba's palace and it would be unfinished without the pit.

TLG could have used an infinite amount of bricks recreate it verbatim or focus on great minifigs. The latter is obviously the better option.
December 9, 201212 yr The set has a hollow base I suppose, but I would prefer a brick base for the minifigures to stand and fall onto.
December 9, 201212 yr If nothing else ill definitely be picking up the Rancor itself. That is a fantastic fig!!!!!

December 10, 201212 yr Nice photos BrickieB, thanks! This looks nicer than the earlier photos, and it will be on my shopping list as soon as there's a 25% discount. I really like the Rancor, Lego could have done a lot worse, he's cute without being too cartoony! It seems strange that the set hasn't got a solid floor....it doesn't make much sense to me? Cheers, Robin Its another pit, leading to Jabbas sewage treatment plant. I heard the set is coming out mid next year...a UCS set
December 10, 201212 yr Wow an early review of the rancor pit, did not realise this set was available already, the minifigures look as they should do (the sand green legs on the keeper look mighty delicious) but off course everyone is going to cop set this for rancor who looks great, no doubt this is on top of my 2013 must buy list. Thanks for the shoutout and the great review
December 11, 201212 yr Wow, I still have the new Jabbas palace on my to buy list, now I must get this set too. Thanks for the great pictures and size comparisons.
December 13, 201212 yr I really like how TLC has given us a whole range of Jabba playsets even going as far as releasing a Sail Barge this summer. I hope the same is done for another film. Maybe a collage of interchangeable Order 66 scenes? Will the Geonosis set this summer be the first in a series?
December 14, 201212 yr I'm so excited for this set to be released. Does anyone know when exactly it will be released in the U.S. ?
December 14, 201212 yr At the Lego store, maybe mid to late December. Everywhere else, maybe a week or so into January.
