Sandy Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Ellaria realizes she is talking to the same Sharkling that owned the storehouse that got raided by Metasimian bandits on her previous quest. Damn it, these sharklings look all the same to her! "Mr. Gurnam, wasn't it? I must apologize for the little charade, we are on a delicate business here. If you have any knowledge of a scrap metal salesman working in this area, we would be most grateful of your help. As for your services in loaning, I have no use for them at the moment."
Zepher Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 "Let's see what you've got for us today, Gurnam. And while you're at it, see if you can't think up anyone who has been collecting scrap metal. Word around the Hall is that you know most of the stinky underside of this city. Even a guess would be helpful."

Waterbrick Down Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 "Glad to see ya haven't changed much Sir Paladin. 'fraid I don't know too much about any shady dealings in that sort of stuff even in my circles. I know most of the lead on the market is being bought up like lightning, but ain't got a clue who's doing it. Yah might check with the Harbor Master, he might have a better idea of where stuff is going or being stored at lately in this neighborhood." With that the sharkling unfurls a small scrap of parchment. Services and Wares Available:Upgrade to Poison Blade: Gurnam will permanently instill a poison effect onto an individual’s weapon. Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 "Damn you Gurnam." "I could recognize you anywhere. Now, if I happen to loan 200 gold from you and buy the deadly venom and have you infuse it with my weapon. Will that weapon be instilled with the effects of deadly venom?"
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 "You'd have to talk to a witch or one of those Cobra Priests from the east to see about doing something like that. Working with regular poison fumes is bad enough when puttin' it into a blade, not even a sharkling's lungs can handle Deadly Poison."
Zepher Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 "Well, Gurnam, doesn't look like there's anything I need from you today, sorry. I'd toss you a coin or two for your information, but I feel that information was given as a friend, and I'd hate to put money into our friendship." Boomingham winks at the Sharkling. "As always, it's been a pleasure." Boomingham saunters off down the street, humming a merry tune and waving his fellow party members onward, making his way to the Dockmaster's office.
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Gurnam returns the wink rolling up the parchment and bidding the trio farewell. The Party makes their way to the Dockmaster's Office. Entering, they find the floor littered with bottles and covered with red sand. "Oy?"
Zepher Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 "Hello there, chap!! We're from Heroica Hall, looking to investigate a murder of a Grumpkin. We have reason to believe that someone who has been working with scrap metal and purchasing tons of lead may be involved... care to tell us where we might find someone of that nature? We have it on good authority that you can help us out."
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 "Good affority, thash what they said I had. Now look at me, ruined, just waiting for the afforities to come and haul me away. Got anyshing to drink? Drink ish a man's only comfort in situations like theesh."
Zepher Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Boomingham smiles and sits down across from the harbor master, trying his best diplomacy. "Surely, I'm always willing to have a drink with another man of good tastes." Boomingham opens up a mead and begins to sip at it, before passing one to the harbor master. "Now, about my earlier inquire. Do you think you can help us out?"
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 William tries to open the chest in the side of the room.
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 "Thank you." The harbor master takes a deep swig, "Oh, what does ish matter. I won't be any sort of harbor master soon. Jush look at the place. Piles of gold hours ago, now noshing but heaps of red dust." William tries to open the chest in the side of the room. William silently opens the chest and finds an elixer inside.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 "Please sir. Do tell. How does all this red dust have to do with your gold?" William says as he tries to take the sword leaning on the chest.
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 "They jush turned to dust! All the payments and taxes from the docked ships, the warehoushes, the merchants in the fish market. All poof!"
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 "Well sir, sorry for what has happened to you. By the way, will you be needing that sword over there? Y'know, your life is ruined for now."
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 "Please sir. Do tell. How does all this red dust have to do with your gold?" William says as he tries to take the sword leaning on the chest. William's attempt at pilfering the sword earn him a quizzical look from the Harbor Master and he decides it probably wouldn't be too diplomatic to try taking the sword. "First you try taking my shword and now you're jush adding misery to my grief?"
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 William tries a different tack. "We are deeply sorry for your lost mister, now, do you have reason to believe this was done by anyone in particular?" OOC: The party does get the Elixir right?
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 QM Note: Yes it will be added to your inventory as well as the Mead being deducted from Boomingham's. This will be reflected in the next battle stats. "I have no idea. Dozens of folks dropped their payments off at this offish this week, there had to be at least 10,000 Gold here!"
Zepher Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Boomingham scratches his head. "Red dust, missing gold... look, we'd like to help you rectify this situation, but you've got to give us something to work with. Have you seen anyone employing a little pumpkin looking man around here? Do your records say anything about lead sales? It's possible that your missing gold and the man we're after are connected, this employer seems less and less a savory character with every passing moment."
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 William attempts to search the bottle lying on the floor and digs the floor with his shovel. "Indeed, Lord Boomingham, do you think the gold in that cloak might be the gold that is lost here?"
Zepher Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Boomingham raises a quizzical eyebrow and whispers to William. "Perhaps it would be best if you'd stop trying to ransack the office while we're talking to this man. And keep your voice down about the gold. The numbers don't quite add up, I'd like to talk to whoever had Spad running errands before we hand this gold off to anyone."
Waterbrick Down Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) The Harbor Master opens his logbook, still taking drafts from the mead and wiping tears from his eyes. "I'll give you what I've got, but some villians made off with my lash log book a few weeks back and things haven't gone very smoothly. Let's shee, I've got a note here saying Warehouse 3's asking for a conshtruction permit to put extra pylons under the foundation, probably means they're expecting a lot of weight. Could be the chaps your looking for. Now then... Warehouse 3 is registered to a J. Smith, no marks againsht his record yet." William finds that the bottles are empty and his digging only yields him a shovel full of the red sand. Edited January 4, 2013 by Waterbrick Down
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 "Let me guess. The J. stands for John." William says dryly
