Interestingly, the associated "Danger in the Silver Mine" set (79110) has a short narrow gauge section built atop two L-gauge straights. With a small amount of modification, this would make a great tunnel for 79111. http://www.festum.de...ne-ranger-2.jpg

It also seems to include the elusive straight section of narrow-gauge track! Oh, the possibilities...

I'm really excited about this set now! I think they have done a great job on the train and would make a great addition to any layout. Put a couple on my buy list!

On another note - the 79110 mine set and the narrow gauge track - does that just look like standard size straight track and modified to include single piece inner rails to make it narrow gauge?

That's what it looks like to me too.

Great now I'm torn between getting this or the Horizon Express, maybe I'll wait to see the final image of the set. Any ideas on whether this set will include a oval of track?

Ahhh looks like the Emerald Night and the Toy Story train had a baby... I love it!!! Although I'll probably mod it a little, this is the most excited I've been about a new train since the Maersk. ... Is that Sensei Wu's hat on the boiler? Interesting. The other sets look great too.

I am more than excited about this new line, and I rarely stray from City! The engine and Gatling gun do it for me on the train, wish there was a coach car, but theres also an updated version of 6765 Gold City Junction (79109 Colby City Showdown) and 6761 Bandit's Secret Hideout (79110 Silver Mine Shoot Out), almost to a Tee. Seriously, it's comical to me... I've wanted the two old Western sets since the Forest Police/Fire sets came out (country/backwoods small town)!:classic:

The narrow gauge just looks like the old 4.5V era track in a modern colour to me. It is a pity really but I guess it is cheaper. I don't think we will get a straight to match the narrow gauge curves unless there is a call for ir in some future set that requires a lot of narrow gauge straights that have to connect to curves. We might then but what that set would be escapes me? Maybe part of a CITY themed fair ground with a roller coaster or similar? I can't think of much else.

I'm a little new to Lego so please correct me if I'm wrong; the train seems like a great little set? Some nice details for us big kids but not so detailed that you're reluctant to let the kids play with it and/or you're constantly looking for little parts that fall off if they do?

Wish it weren't licensed but I'll look for it on discount.

the mould design would be very simple for straight track, only creating the mould itself is expensive, but quite some people would be eager to buy it I guess.

If they were really creative they could just make special plates (similar to ME and BBB) and a slight change to the standard straight - rather than one large pre fab piece smaller build your own. But doubt it will happen unless there is a disney film about dwarves and mines and rescuing annimated "trucks" and finding old broken down units with oodles of wisdom who were once someone. Even Gringots only got something in passing. And ramps add more play factor than pure straights!

I just read on FBTB.net's UK Toy Fair 2013 … Lone Ranger report 79111 Constitution Train Chase includes a complete circle of track. It also includes seven minifigures, which is pretty good for a train set these days.

This might be asking a little much but I hope LEGO offers a (virtual) product collection of all the Lone Ranger sets, much like they did with Monster Fighters, CITY Mining, and Lord of the Rings.

might include a motor than as well?! All 1985+ train sets that we have seen that included tracks also had a train with a motor.

Oh, that would be wishful thinking......but would also be AWESOME !

Though what images we have seen don't show any track in a circle saying it's included in the set......but yet again they were early images from a catalogue.

The toy fair report puts the price at £79.99, so it probably does not include a motor (7938 is £102.99).

Would I be able to build the engine around my own 9v train motor?

Based on the images available, the locomotive appears to have a 4-6-0 layout with drivers like the Emerald Night so you'd probably have better luck putting the 9V train motor under the tender, much like 10173 Holiday Train.

I read that today as well as i was looking at the toy fare for confirmation of the release dates of Galaxy Squad in the UK, (Which i did not find, which surprised me as a LEGO Store staff member told me it was February only a couple of weeks away.) and I saw the write up on the Lone Ranger stuff. It did say that there was a complete circle of track. Ona more personal note I'd prefer it to have some straight track but I won't complain, if it has track it must have railway wheels on the engine and the coach at least. Hopefully they will include instructions for adding Power Functions in the same way they have with the other train sets to date. But whether they do or not I it should not be hard to add one to the tender somehow, at least i hope not.

OK, thanks Dave

I've never done that before -- yet have seen it done and as long as tracks aren't too tricky, the train will still run along smoothly. I guess using a headlight will be out though

For some reason, I never actually motorized my 10173 Holiday Train even though I purchased a 9V motor and the two black 3710 Plate 1x4 elements required to do so.

I would imagine with a long enough electric wire you could add a headlight. 3748 Light Unit for Train includes a 36-stud-long wire but I don't know if it's long enough for 79111 Constitution Train Chase. You'd have to get creative with the buffer attachment but I suppose it could be done.
