DLuders Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Huw Millington of Brickset wrote this short promotion of the charity auction. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 That was really awesome of Huw to do that...I think he has the only non-technic based site that featured this(Besides www.wired.com) @ Paul Boratko: Ooh, I didn't realize that some of those parts were so expensive -- my apologies. You never know -- there could be a last-minute surge of bidding tomorrow (when the auction ends) -- there is definitely interest in your model among certain Technic AFOLs! No matter how it ends up, you should be thanked for your generosity and consideration to the "Make-A-Wish" Foundation kids. You could probably build the Red/Black version of this for under $300.. I would say that I probably have closer to $425 in this one(That is counting $15 a piece for those Black flex axles that Steve gave me) Quote
DLuders Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 15 minutes to go in the charity auction -- USD $967.65 and 37 bids.... 5 minutes to go in the charity auction -- USD $995 with 38 bids! The final winning bid was USD $1,160 ! Thanks again, Paul, for your donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation! Quote
Paul Boratko Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I am happy with the amount raised, but I was shocked when I found out where the high bidder was located.... Quote
DLuders Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 @ Paul Boratko: Is he/she in your hometown (meaning, did YOUR WIFE make the high bid?) Quote
Paul Boratko Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) @ Paul Boratko: Is he/she in your hometown (meaning, did YOUR WIFE make the high bid?) LOL.. No nothing like that, but when I was sending the invoice, I couldn't believe that the high bidder did in fact live in my city... I don't know who he is, but I googled his name(with the city) and he has a dental practice here... With 8 seconds left, this was heading to Australia... And then the sniper came in....
