So I was going to ask if anyone has built the B-model yet, but reading the thread suggests that might be tricky right now?

This one is up on the UK Lego store now (£49.99 or so). A-model looks good, B-model looks bad...what is that on the front? Root rake? Plough? Dozer blade? :classic:

@dluders - your persistence with TLG is admirable. One thing though - the Air Force have checklists because Bad Things Happen and People Die if mistakes are made in aviation. Nobody dies because TLG didn't get instructions online.

TLG customer service is a different kind of engineering problem, probably just one or more of: straightforward mistakes; deliberately low on the priority list; under-resourcing for the tasks in hand.

Your point about selling a B-model, but not being able to deliver is well made though. Not really acceptable, especially in a premium brand (and premium-priced brand). Good luck. :classic:

How much playability can there be in this set with just one motor as LEGO suggests?

You can only control 1 function at a time, so just to pick up something you need to switch gears 3 times manually :sceptic:

Sounds eerily familiar to motorizing the 8294, one switch does it all. Would have been nice to have another LA for the bucket tilt, but at that time in 2008 mini LA's weren't around. Still trying to figure out how to add a grabber (2-prong, not the 4-prong) to one of my 8294's.

Dear Sirs,

You may recall signing the attached March 2012 letter concerning the tardy posting of PDF Building Instructions for the alternate, B-Model LEGO Technic sets. Unfortunately, the problem still persists. Even when sets are offered for sale at the official Shop.Lego.com website, the B-Model instructions were not posted until I personally alerted Lego Customer Service through multiple e-mails and telephone calls.

Specifically, here are the three incidents involving LEGO Technic sets during the last 9 months:

  1. In March 2012, the 9397 Logging Truck B-Model -- http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66348&hl=9397 .
  2. In early Dec 2012, the 42010+42011 Dragster combination -- http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=76837entry1454320 .
  3. In late Dec 2012, the 42006 Excavator B-Model – http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=76891&st=25#entry1468731 .

In your letter, you stated that you “…were committed to preventing building instruction delays and are taking action to make sure that this does not happen with future set releases.” Alas, those steps have not prevented this recurring, systemic problem. You also wrote to me to “Please continue to voice your thoughts, so we can work together in making TECHNIC the best it can be.” I’m hoping that you can both find out why new 2-in-1 Technic sets cannot have their B-Model PDF Building Instructions posted in a prompt manner, without having a customer (like me) acting as your LEGO website Quality Control person.

I have completed at least 10 of those pop-up Customer Surveys that I see when visiting LEGO websites, to outline the problems noted above. Nothing has changed. There could be hundreds of disappointed customers who also seek the advertised B-Model instructions, but do not find them. Surely there are some additional steps that you could take to solve this problem, once and for all.

Sincerely,

David G. Luders, P.E., Licensed Professional Engineer

Well spoken David - but it seems they still don't get it, even overseas where the designs and products for the most part are produced and shipped from.

Eric

And that's enough. :)

@Anio - not sure what you mean? They stop at the end of the first book, I wanted to see the whole 3rd boom with the grappler to get some ideas at least...

If you really want to make a point, stop buying their products.....just a thought. We weren't expecting this until sometime in January, so the fact that we have it early makes this oversight easier to digest. I built the first model and will enjoy for a while, then I will look for instructions for B model...not a big deal. What would be really nice is if they would include printed instructions for B models like they used to.....one can dream!

I ordered it, but have yet to receive it and after 3 calls and an e-mail to Cust Svc, they cannot locate it and each agent has a different story on where its at, one even telling me that there were only 2, that's right 2, left in the USA warehouses, I even escalated it to a manager, who seemed to know even less than the cust svc reps they supervise. I got a confirmation e-mail right away, but I have yet to get a shipment confirmation in my e-mail, it doesn't make any sense, they sure put a hold on my debit card right away as they always do when you order online with them. I'm starting to get really frustrated and a bit worried, it still say is In Process 3 days later. You can't blame the weather, it doesn't leave their warehouse without a scan on the shipping label they put on the box, and this is before the shipper picks it up in person. FedEx or UPS do not have it in their hands I was told and they have no idea where its at now, I really hate online shopping, its too bad local TRU stores don't carry it around here at least, but then again they'd probably upcharge it by $10-15 anyway. The last communication I had was with them yesterday and they said they would credit me the shipping. Like that's going to do me any good, it hasn't even shipped yet  . I'm starting to get really ticked...if it isn't lack of instructions for a and b models, its their shipping. Think I'm about done ordering except from Amazon, you can count on them every time, but most models in the past year or so haven't even made it onto their website, except for Marketplace items that are way overpriced (and I generally only order Amazon-Fulfilled Items as you can trust they will go out and deliver on a certain day), maybe Technic just isn't that popular a sector in the USA for Amazon to warehouse them.

I believe the days of b model instructions are long gone and never to return, cost cutting on their part.

That claw picture is from jpsindustrie's SeTechnic Review of the 42006 set! :classic: View it in the original French and in this English translation ; you can change the "TO" language at the top of that Translate.Google.com webpage to fit your own native language so that you understand the review better.

Thanks DLuders for the links and pics and being so on top of things, even if TLG isn't cooperating as fast as one would think. I, for one, appreciate all you do as I've said time and time again.

Anyone know when it would be possible buy that claw parts?

@dluder has anyone made a review of this set yet I'm sure lots have it!

Somebody got a hold of an international seller, not sure which country, and they are ultra-expensive from his/her store on Bricklink. I'm sure as more and more buy this set, and many on BL part it out, the prices will go down as supply goes up on BL.

I have to say this is a great set for 1H, even the race car (42010) and the mini backhoe loader are nice too. I wonder if they will release anything larger towards springtime like they have in the past couple years...

The F-1 (42000) is the "spring" release....

There was a seller on Bl here in the states had 10 of them for 120 bucks a piece I think, then I got on there yesterday and there all gone.

That would be a cool set for springtime...

Geez Dan, $120 each?!? I'm frankly surprised they sold for that much, that's ridiculous...I'm sure once the 42006 floods the market, the price will dramatically go down...

Ok I know iv no patients most of the time but how come no one has done a review of this set yet? It's nearly 2 weeks out!

Please be patient, some markets dont have this model so far.

I thought it was kinda out there that the seller wanted that much money for the set, when you can go to the LEGO site and buy it for 79.99, The only store that has the claws so far is in Europe, and there close to 12 USD a piece. I think I,d just spend the extra money and get the whole set, looking through the parts list I see a lot of good pieces to add too the collection I have. Far as the set goes, I have it built up to the end of book one. I ended up building my own cab, and I don't have th claws, so we'll see what I come up with for it.

The claws is the main reason most of us want this set :) u won't replicate anything near as good!
