Dorek Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Razar and Cragger are my only "must-buys", what with Hero Factory having some particularly awesome sets this year. Worriz and Laval have a definite place in the "if I have money for it" column. Gorzan and Eris, I'm on the fence about. I'd like to see more of what makes Gorzan tick, and I'll probably pass on Eris because she doesn't offer anything particularly new over Razar; not necessarily a bad thing, but I prefer the overall colors and theme of Razar. xxlrocka Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Indeed, the worst news of the week this side of Fighting is Magic getting shut down. People will be all over that. Anti-bronies will be rejoicing. I will be laughing in the face of danger as I leap over the walls use my grapple hook to dodge the poisoned arrow darts and then... I steal the treasure, but an almighty stone boulder of doom rolled down towards her. She leaped into a hidden doorway and she narrowly escaped. She had the treasure. I had the treasure. Shakar Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) Indeed, the worst news of the week this side of Fighting is Magic getting shut down. Don't remind me about it. Gorzan's Gorilla Striker (the mech) features a banana belt, though. Maybe they scrapped it on the Gorzan set, but they liked the idea so much they added it to the mech. I guess it made the parts count jump. Maybe these sets were originally supposed to be priced at a slightly higher price point... People will be all over that. Anti-bronies will be rejoicing. Or possibly because they thought it was redundant for both Gorzan and Gorzan's Gorilla Striker to have a banana ammo belt. It's not like it'd be too hard to replace if it's your preference. Both the ammo belt piece and the banana piece are fairly inexpensive on Bricklink. Quote

The ammo belts were on Pick-A-Brick previously, but don't seem to be there in the latest update. But perhaps I wasn't looking in the right categories. I tried a few categories and then searched by the design ID, but came up dry. Quote
Dorek Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Also, since Gorzan doesn't actually have any kind of projectile-esque weapon, they probably figured it wouldn't make much sense; any time you have the bandolier, thus far, it feeds into a projectile weapon to give the illusion that it's an actual ammo belt. The banana belt would also require too many pieces - at least 20, perhaps? Maybe it was too far out of Lego's piece count per set. Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) No no no! Gorillas don't throw poo, they throw barrels! Didn't you learn anything from Donkey Kong? To go off-topic: I'm not surprised that Hasbro puts the game down, considering copyrights and such, but I'm surprised they put it down so late. To me, the idea of a beat'em'up based on a cartoon like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic didn't make much sense in the first place though. I do still feel kinda sorry for all the fans who were looking forward to playing it (like a friend of mine) - I mean, I went through something similiar when Capcom cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 (and as long as Mega Man won't be included in the next Smash Bros., I won't forgive Capcom for this). xxlrocka Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 What? Is my story telling not good enough for you? Do you hate it? Quote
Shakar Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 BZP has LoC Toy Fair pics, and they're very good as usual. The non bird figures use back armour AND use the sweet 3x1 liftarm/balljoints to connect the shells, and the bad guys' weapons are indeed tr. red (they look like that because of the plastic). First tr. red weapons (excluding Breez's hex shield) in..forever? On the good guys' side, the lightning does the tr. blue shells justice, they look amazing. I've wanted those for years. What? Is my story telling not good enough for you? Do you hate it? I'm sorry, I don't get what it has to do with the topic. @ ZORK64: I compliment you. From your words I gather you're not a brony, but you're reasonable enough to understand what we feel instead of going "lol bronies" like haters would. While I was looking forward to the game, I'm mostly really sorry and pissed to see hours of work getting wasted like this. Quote
Bigger Fish Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Quick question, does anyone know how the shields attach to Worriz's and Laval's hands? Quote
toatyger Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Quick question, does anyone know how the shields attach to Worriz's and Laval's hands? A flick-fire missle piece. Quote
Aanchir Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 A flick-fire missle piece. Yeah, that's quite a useful piece for Hero Factory builds. I'm glad to see it being used for this purpose. Quote
Front Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Yeah, that's quite a useful piece for Hero Factory builds. I'm glad to see it being used for this purpose. Unique combination of stud, technic bushing and 3.2 shaft. Quote
Stephan Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) I just noticed that the figures from the 'bad' tribes have their CHI source-thingie on the left side of their chests, while the good tribe ones have theirs on their right side. Just a funny detail the designers put in these sets. Edited February 13, 2013 by Stephan Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I agree on the missiles. I use them in my Self-MOC for his shin guards. I wonder what "new" piece Andrew is referring to that connects Eris' wings. The wing skeleton is (as far as I can see) entirely made out of pieces we knew since Ordeal of Fire. Oh, did you notice that the banana ammo belt was shifted to Gorzan's mech? @ ZORK64: I compliment you. From your words I gather you're not a brony, but you're reasonable enough to understand what we feel instead of going "lol bronies" like haters would. While I was looking forward to the game, I'm mostly really sorry and pissed to see hours of work getting wasted like this. You're right, I'm not a brony. While I acknowledge the quality of the series, it's not my really my taste - when it comes to animation, I prefer the surreal humor of Adventure Time or the science fiction action of Transformers. And as I already said, I can relate to your situation regarding Fighting is Magic because Capcom pulled somewhat similiar crap with Mega Man Legends 3 in 2011. I'll put an explanation of the situation in a spoiler tag, since I'm going to ramble and it's reeeaaally off-topic. Mega Man Legends 2 was released way back in 2000/2001 (for the Playstation 1, no less) and as far as I know (I have yet to finish it - I bought both games somewhat around 2009/2010), it ends with a cliffhanger (and the Legends games rely much more on telling a story than other Mega Man games, since they are more 3D Action Adventures similiar to the Zelda or Tomb Raider series). Of course the loyal fanbase of the games was asking for a sequel several times, and head honcho Keiji Inafune also said he wanted to make a new Legends game. Then, in 2010, they announce it for the 3DS, fans are happily looking forward to it and (at least in Japan and America) participate in the contests the dev team holds (similiar to the contests for designing Robot Masters for the old games). Pretty much one year later (I happen to play Legends 1 and 2 in the meantime) Capcom announces that they're cancelling the game, despite the fact that the prototype version (which was supposed to be downloadable and Capcom had planned to determine the development of the game on the sales of it) was apparently ready to be released. The fact that Capcom Europe said that the game was cancelled because it didn't got enough attention didn't helped things either (after all, we talk about the same company who had the guts to release Tatsunoko vs. Capcom outside of Japan, probably knowing that it won't sell well since it's a Beat'em'Up for the Wii with a whole bunch of characters that most people out of Japan don't even know). Given that Capcom didn't treat Mega Man in 2011 (and the majority of 2012, the support for Street Fighter X Mega Man soothes the pain a bit) all that well, I'm still mad at them. Quote
Bfahome Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I wonder what "new" piece Andrew is referring to that connects Eris' wings. The wing skeleton is (as far as I can see) entirely made out of pieces we knew since Ordeal of Fire. He probably just thought that the OoF piece was new. Seems like it's usually hidden in the construction of the sets, so it's often not easy to see. Quote
Cirkit Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Anyone notice how some of the Superhero add-on parts on the Chima figures are upside-down in the pictures? The chest-pecks part, I mean. Wish there were more pictures of Cragger, he looks like an awesome set. I'd love to see how his head goes together.. Gorzan is growing on me too, though the blue does kind of stand out a bit, doesn't it? Also, he's got black fur parts, and fingers, and I really like that! Those two are my favorites of the Chima Figures, for sure. Laval and Worriz look pretty good too. One is sort of a clone of the other, it can work either way, but the parts they give are great. I would definitely pick up a Worriz for those dark red cladding parts, and probably for the 'paws' and blade too, and I would pick up a Laval mainly for his dark red parts, the gold is always nice, and the trans blue blades/cladding would be a great addition to my part collection. The two birds are sort of clones of each other too, aren't they? I like the way Eris' battle axe is built, and the head's pretty stylin' too, and she's got lots of nice white, gold, and trans-blue parts.. while she doesn't scream 'female', she certainly says 'warrior', and that's good enough for me. The other bird, Razar, I presume, is neat to me because of the purple, and the head, and really that's about it. The tools color stand out a bit too much to me, and the bones used to make up the wings stand out way too much. Why they couldn't be done in black I haven't the slightest. I'm not sure if he's one I'd pick up- I'd probably go for Eris if given the choice. So.. yeah, there you go! Quote

What are those red lines on the bag? I believe those indicate where the three faces of the finished bag (front, back, and bottom) will be glued together. That seems consistent with all the Hero Factory packaging I currently have with me. Quote
