Aanchir Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 It's terrifying how accurate this statement was. I'll agree when you can show me a Duplo set that uses complex SNOT techniques and ball-and-socket articulation. The Legend Beasts are remarkably elegant, for brick-built creatures at that kind of scale. I guess there's not a whole lot more to discuss about them here, considering they aren't in fact constraction sets (but hey, can't go wrong with ball-and-socket joints!). Quote
Dorek Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Obviously there's such a thing as hyperbole, but they are still blocky, awkward looking monsters with dopey expressions. And yeah, I guess they cross the line from constraction to brick-based, but considering what we see with HF now, that line is becoming less and less distinct =P. Quote

But the gist of my point is that those are about the OPPOSITE of the problems you'd get from using reprinted Duplo animals. The flaws you'd get with Duplo animals are excessively rounded sculpts and overspecialized single-piece designs. I thought the lion's face was awkward when I first saw it, and still think that to a certain extent (it's probably not as bad without the awful pose and render complicating things). The gorilla's head is also terribly blocky. But other than that, I think the sets are remarkably elegant — including the rest of the body for the lion and gorilla. vexorian Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I googled for lion legend beast, and I think they would be creator-style brick constructed monsters with some new bricks for the details. I doubt they would be constraction. Probably they intend to use Chima as a gateway theme to niches. Wait till 2015 Chima has technic tanks and 2016 Chima has friends minidools. Quote
