Dear Friends.

As I have feared that tragic event which happened in Dr Spock's topic ( http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=76830 ) have found some very disturbing repercussions.

I don't know if You have watched the NEWS but:

No Redcoats or Monkeys were harmed during the making of that comic*

Another nice attempt, but news - television - and pirates somehow son't work for me. The western wanted images were ok, but television ...

You could use at least 2-3 different images for the reporter not only one. It'd make the comic more dynamic.

Good thing is that official entries are capped to 10 images since this is far too long for my taste. Or maybe there's just not enough going on - 13 images basically telling the same thing. And RR has nothing to do with Rs or Bs as far as I know.

Sorry for too much criticism, it's not because you're blue ;) And get the better camera fixed ASAP. The clear images you include from others really don't work well with yours.

Thank You for Your kind words fellows!

I appreciate that.

Artistically this is called "absurd humor" or "surreal humor" or "theatre of absurd"... I like this kind of stuff a lot, Monty Python & CO... :sweet:

think of it like "what if" XVIII-century Pirates could have a FACEBOOK account

and prepare Yourself!... cause I'm about to do more "televisioned" threads

And get the better camera fixed ASAP. The clear images you include from others really don't work well with yours.

As I already said in my previous thread I do have a camera problem, and really took an effort to have a single out of 30-50 pictures worth posting. I am not satisfied myself but I think it do works rather well with "clear images"... the thing is that news anchor is also supposed to be only a "background" for the whole story... if one will concentrate on text it won't bother...

As above... I don't really think it should have more images of the "news studio"... I actually did try to do that at the beginning... wanted to have a good close up of my anchor for exqample... but I couldn't really get a better picture than this and it rather proved to be working in editing...

having more studio images would make the whole comic look too chaotic for me :classic:

there's a lot of fine comics around with like one drawing on 10 panels... or at least very similar drawings... where different speech bubbles are the most important thing in telling a story...

I am surprised that you call this comic to be not "dynamic" and that there's "not enough going on"...

I undestand that You would prefer more things with LEGO happening in it.... but this is the actual reason why I do them this way... since I'm still not a skilled builder and I don't actually even have much to build from ( + camera problem noted ) I have to concentrate on the aspect I am really good at - scenario, surprise and fun...

and I think it does have a rather dynamic storytelling and some kind of a rough cut... I did put a lot of effort and thinking into making every single info box, frame, speech bubble etc and have them work as well as possible.

I know that this is a long one, but I'd say that there's a lot of things to enjoy on every panel...

Of course this is the kind of story that works the best when one is familiar with this whole Dr. Spocks's MOC "affair"... but I think it is pretty funny even without knowing what was the whole Monkey and Banana thing about.

and there is a lot of traditional humor effects for everyone - Roger Rabbit at the end... "BB-Bric"... "grandma-killing" effect... surprise, absurd... a lot of text that would seem mutually incompatible :sweet:

And I have to say that I am much more satisfied with this comic than with previous one, as this one has been also much more challenging for me :sweet:

Ok, I went through it twice more, but still it didn't bring much up for me. The only plus for me is the arresting of the monkeys part. And the Fabuland monkey really is hilarious and works very well with the line "... every monkey in the country" plus it's LEGO related. Should have mentioned this before but forgot ...

I do understand your idea with absurd humor maybe even some pointless jokes like: Johnny came to the baker who asked him: "Do you want a white or a brown bread?" and Johnny replies: "It doesn't matter, cos I'm with my bike" ... yeah things like this work pretty well with company in a bar - especially if you're a little drunk  - but somehow for my taste it doesn't work here. Maybe i understood the competition wrong or just took it too seriously, because what I'm trying to do is play the role of my character. That's why I'm not killing anyone in my comics (yet  ) for it doesn't make sense killing someone who would then happily keep on posting. If I killed poor Pastry in my first comic, who would then host the competition?! Maybe your way is another alternative in doing it and might be worth trying it ... which gives me an idea (hope I find time to realize it)!

Ok, another thing that bothers me is the made up names. If I call myself A and in the comics you call my character X it's a bit pointless don't you think? And from an role playing aspect I predict we (as well as the tournament) all live/exist in the same universe. Now if not everyone is using the Banania for either a name of city, Island or anything else it too is kind of pointless. Yes I'm a realist and abstract art is not for me.

I'm sorry if I upset you in any way, I didn't mean to be harsh. I do understand there's much effort in this comic since I know how much time my 3 image comics took me. All I wanted to say was (and explained why), this is not a kind of comic that would convince me into voting for it, considering it was the final product. Which in the end is your and everybody's goal I guess!

Ok... but let's imagine that I would cast a spell on everyone else on Eurobricks so they would turn into penguins and so my entry would be the only one... would You vote for it?:tongue::devil:

Well I actually had a thought about RvB being some kind of a continuity... Banania being part of it in some way... I don't think I'll bring her up again as I don't have other ideas which would need fictional RvB countries... well, except one maybe... :innocent2:

RvB is such a big world which needs to be explored by both of our Factions...

and I do have an idea to mix other genres into it...

we can always battle TOR in some kind of a multiverse ... like in DC Comics... these guys have like 50 versions of FLASH... Earth 1, Earth 2, Earth 3 etc

Oh... and for me it's not a competition yet... just a testing field

If I killed poor Pastry in my first comic, who would then host the competition?! Maybe your way is another alternative in doing it and might be worth trying it ... which gives me an

Naah... Admiral would be able to host it even if You'd kill him... He promised this to us... and he does keep his promises!

... but I do hope he will also keep his promise of leaving his majorcan villa to me incase of his tragic... ... ...Get to work damn You!

And I give You a permission to kill me in as many comics as You want... so that then I'll will return as a Bogeyman to haunt You in Your dreams :laugh:

Johnny came to the baker who asked him: "Do you want a white or a brown bread?" and Johnny replies: "It doesn't matter, cos I'm with my bike"

Hilarious ! :iamded_lol::rofl:
